- Doesn't play great D - Horrible shot selection - turnover machine - not a great leader. I like Ellis and all but I don't think he would be able to put numbers like this on a winner. He and Kevin Martin are the types of players who will only do well in systems where they can have the ball most of the time.
The ASG isn't about strategy. It's about the top NBA players getting recognized and watching the best go out and have fun. It's supposed to just be a good show. It doesn't matter who wins.
I don't see how 81 doesn't get on that list. The Lakers were down 24 or so as well. How many times in your lifetime will you see a player score 80+ in a game? One could argue that should be filed under player performances...but then again, so should a handful on that list.
There's nothing really special Ellis is doing besides compiling points on a bad team. And how Josh Smith still isn't an All-Star is mind-boggling. He's the main reason they've taken the leap they have. Lee's become an excellent offensive player and rebounder, while being a horrible defender on a losing team. Smith's been excellent across the board and actually contributing to wins.
On what planet? http://i49.tinypic.com/nqs76f.jpg And the last time Shaq was in the playoffs, he averaged 15 PPG, 9 RPG on just 44% FG while getting CRUSHED by Duncan, who averaged 20/15 while playing injured.
