That analogy is terribly incorrect. Number one, a statue has the sole purpose of celebrating or glorifying. The religious center's primary purpose goes well beyond celebration of anything. And what makes you believe that this is an act of attention? $100M is not being spent to receive attention. Number two, there is a direct connection between Hitler and the Holocaust. If there is anyone out there that thinks there is a direct connection between a mosque or religious center and the 9/11 attacks, shame on them. I think the easiest way for me to bring my point across is this. People need to stop labeling those terrorists as Muslims. It's not only that the mindsets of the terrorists do not agree with what Muslims believe. They oppose what Islam teaches. Why, then, should anyone even be bringing the 9/11 attacks into this? I don't even want to bring religious freedom into this. Because in the end, the construction plan may end up winning simply because the opposition will reluctantly step down, accepting the 1st Amendment, while still showing hatred. Forget religious freedom for a moment and consider this: do you really that think Muslims (as in those who act according to what Islam teaches, since that needs to be specified) were and are celebrating what happened on September 11, 2001? Or were they expressing the same sorrow as those opposing this project? A fraction of followers either misinterpreted what Islam is about or tried finding a way to use Islam to justify their unacceptable actions. Is that a legitimate reason to come in the paths of those who correctly interpret the belief system?

There are already plenty of mosques in NYC. You are only opposed to it if you are intolerant. The religion of Islam did not attack the country, it was nutjobs that shouldn't even be associated with the religion. I find it appalling that you don't think freedom of religion should be enforced. The US has killed more people in the "War on Terror" than were killed in the terrorist attacks on 9/11.

I read somewhere that the organizer of this said he would be more than willing to build the mosque somewhere else, and if there is another area he would take it. The Christians can protest all they want, but it's the Muslim's constitutional right to build this mosque wherever they please. If this were a huge Southern Baptist Church this would not be a big deal, but since the Muslim community has a couple of airheads, their entire religion is unfairly judged.

That's for every perimeter defensive player, though. The great offensive players will almost always beat the great defensive player. Help defense is how you shutdown superstars, as the Boston Celtics have proven many times.

1) Dwight Howard Just seeing how much of an impact he has with the Magic's defensive scheme (look at some of the players they have who can't play defense), you have to stick him at #1. 2) Ron Artest Should've been on the All-Defensive 1st Team. Very smart defender, excellent hands, very physical. 3) Kobe Bryant If one person has to defend LeBron, I'm taking Bryant, especially if it's the last 24 seconds of a game. When he's not having to eye a second offensive threat (for Fisher), he's top three on-ball defense in the league. Not very many players can successfully defend three positions on the court, either, if those players are elite (Rondo, Wade, James). 4) Greg Oden If he played a full season, he'd be nearly on the same level as Howard. Excellent help defender (not as good as Dwight), but a better on-ball defender than DH12. 5) Kirk Hinrich Ask Wade. The only guard (point or two-guard) I've seen light Hinrich up when he's defending them for most of the game is Kobe Bryant. I believe Wade has dumped a lot of points on him once or twice, but he's also had a lot of trouble against him. Rajon Rondo, Gerald Wallace, Thabo Sefolosha, Arron Afflalo, Anderson Varejao, Josh Smith, Tony Allen...all honorable mentions. I just can't say any of them are better defenders than Hinrich and Oden. If Oden doesn't qualify because of his injuries, I'll move Kirk up one and give the fifth spot to Rajon Rondo, but Gerald Wallace is REALLY close.

Two of the Hawks biggest problems I've found the past two years are heart and coaching. Their offense is iso-oriented which virtually never works against next-level defensive teams in the playoffs, and all they do on defense is switch everything, resulting in bad mismatches. Their team defensive concepts were also non-existent during the playoffs last year, with breakdown, after breakdown, after breakdown. With their modus operandi being one-on-one play, naturally the team would go into a funk whenever things went against them. Teams that don't have outstanding team concepts are doomed to fail. Unfortunately, the Hawks have virtually the same roster going into next season. As for the original question, JJ used to be really good. He can create his own jumper, get to the basket, he's a decent defender, an underrated playmaker, and he can shoot and post up. He looks old though. All those heavy minutes of him having to iso for himself look like they've zapped his legs. He's certainly not good enough for this Hawks team to win more than maybe one playoff series against a mediocre opponent. Some of the suggestions made have been trading Horford or Smith. I agree with Nitro that Smith can't be Atlanta's three, but I disagree that Smith shouldn't be moved. He still doesn't understand help defensive concepts beyond selling out for blocks. There are clips all over NBAPlaybook during the Magic series of Smith botching pick-and-roll coverage. Some of it is coaching, but players who've been in the league awhile (Smith is no longer a young pup) can't be so mistake prone, especially if they aren't good individual defenders and Smith is not. Like JJ, I'm not sure Smith is a title-caliber player.
