Due to the NBA season starting very soon, I figured it was time for predictions. Also, I will give a brief explanation as to why a team will win the Conference Championship Series, NBA, and any major award. If you have any disagreement, question, or outrage leave a comment in a well thought out and appropriate manner then I will directly address it. Without further ado... Eastern Conference 1.Miami Heat 62-20 2.Orlando Magic 57-25 3.Boston Celtics 52-30 4.Milwaukee Bucks 50-32 5.Atlanta Hawks 47-35 6.Chicago Bulls 42-40 7.Charlotte Bobcats 41-41 8.Indiana Pacers 38-44 9.New York Knicks 35-47 10.Washington Wizards 32-50 11.Cleveland Cavaliers 30-52 12.Philadelphia 76ers 29-53 13.Detroit Pistons 26-56 14.New Jersey Nets 20-62 15.Toronto Raptors 17-65 Eastern Conference Finals Heat defeat Celtics in 6 games Reason:The Heat's big three will be too much for an aging Celtics defense. Dwyane Wade and LeBron James' superior perimeter defense will shut down the scoring threats of Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. Also, Mario Chalmers underrated defensive skills will minimize Rajon Rondo's phenomenal playmaking abilities. Western Conference 1.Los Angeles Lakers 60-22 2.Dallas Mavericks 57-25 3.Oklahoma City Thunder 56-26 4.Utah Jazz 55-27 5.San Antonio Spurs 55-27 6.Phoenix Suns 54-28 7.Denver Nuggets 51-31 8.Portland Trail Blazers 50-32 9.Houston Rockets 47-35 10.Memphis Grizzlies 41-41 11.Los Angeles Clippers 38-44 12.New Orleans Hornets 27-55 13.Golden State Warriors 23-59 14.Sacramento Kings 22-60 15.Minnesota Timberwolves 15-67 Western Conference Finals Lakers defeat Thunder in 6 games Reason:No reason to believe Kevin Durant can beat the Lakers with a slimmed down Ron Artest and a healthy Kobe Bryant. The Thunder are a great team, but lets us not forget that they are playing the Lakers. The same team that added Steve Blake and Matt Barnes in the off season to further deepen their team. NBA Finals Lakers defeat Heat in 5 games Reason:These two teams will square off in the NBA Finals this year with the Lakers winning a Game 5 in Los Angeles, securing their 17th World Championship. The Lakers size and experience will be too much for the talented Miami team. The Heat will collect their share of NBA Championships, but Kobe Bryant will get the better of Miami's 'Big Three' this year. Awards MVP: Kevin Durant Reason: Kevin Durant has been called the 2nd best player in the NBA, and the most valuable to his team. He will prove those player and coaches who have said this all NBA off season. Durant will average 30+ points a game this season, and will up his assists in another MVP caliber season. Finals MVP: Kobe Bryant Reason: Kobe Bryant is reason enough for this award. Rookie of the Year: John Wall Reason:John Wall will put together a rookie season for the ages as he averages 20 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds per game with the Washington Wizards.Blake Griffin will also put up great numbers, but Wall will accomplish a feat that only 4 others have achieved with the 20/5/5 season. Defensive Player of the Year: Dwight Howard Reason: Howard is the best shot blocker since a prime Dikembe Mutumbo, and plays excellent post defense to go with this as he wins his 3rd straight DPOTY. NBA Coach of the Year: Alvin Gentry Reason: Being a playoff team after losing Amar'e Stoudemire in the off season will justify this award. All-NBA First Team: G Deron Williams, G Kobe Bryant, F LeBron James, F Kevin Durant, and C Dwight Howard Reason: With their team's in the playoffs and a long line of success to show. These players will be locks for All-NBA First Team.2 points

You can live comfortably on $250k, but you know damn well that it isn't "rich". Don't even try to put those people in the same sentence as a Bill Gates and Warren Buffet in terms of wealth. So, let's use a real example of a person living in Chicago that makes $250k each year, and you tell me if they are rich. A married couple makes $250 k and pay $100,000 in federal and state taxes. That doesn't include sales and other taxes. Then there's property taxes that come out to $15,000. Then you have $250,000 in student loans. Yes, they went to college and are paying for their education. Then you have insurance, doctors bills, car payments, ect to pay. This family ends up having a few hundred dollars each month to spend what they want. That's not rich. It's time for a reality check. It matters where you live. And, who the hell are you to try and tell someone who makes $250k that they "should be willing" to give more and [expletive] like that? Yes, let's penalize people for being successful. It's not their fault they got an education and have jobs that are not as common as being a McDonalds worker or a janitor.2 points

For one, it's a federal law. Read this... And this... Doesn't matter who is running the country. So, now my question is, why even point it out? The administration will still enforce a federal law? Yeah, I bet it's because it's a federal law. It's not difficult to figure out what you were trying to accomplish with the topic. Obama bash-fest. How do I know? History, and because you mentioned Bush (which you should probably realize that the "great Bush Administration" was enforcing drug laws as well, because...it was a federal law). Basically, Holder is stating the obvious. Obama didn't necessarily run and tell him to say it. Nobody else had to notify him of the plans. Holder made a statement that they will enforce drug laws, and, hell, maybe because it's a federal law.2 points

You do realize that $250k isn't THAT much in today's society? Yes, it's more than the "average" person, but it's not nearly as much as you're trying to make it sound. With paying for homes, colleges, ect, it's really not nearly the amount you're trying to make it sound. Would a homeless person or very poor person love to make that? Yes, but it's really not a ton of money nowadays.2 points

If he was wrapped up he would have caught the ball...the point of defense is to make sure he does catch the ball. It was a fair play. The ball hit him, the defense has the right to hit him. That's football.2 points

Leaving out weekends, a person can work 261 days a year (paid holidays, vacations). Typical eight-hour day (giving them 40 hours a week, full-time)... That's 2,088 hours a year. $250,000 a year, working full-time, 40 hours a week? That's $119.73 an hour. It's $20,833 a month. Does anyone here touch that? Anyone here have parents that make that money? So how does $250,000 a year compare to $40,000? Well, whoever is making $250k can make that $40k in two months, six times quicker than the $40k worker. The fact is, $250,000 is a LOT of money. It's 1/4 of a million dollars, in just one year. It's nearly $120 an hour. Don't try to sugar-coat it.1 point

I've told my boss he should fire me before, but I really didn't want him to. Bryant had a couple of opportunities to leave, and he also could've waived his no-trade clause so the Lakers could deal him to the Bulls for Deng, but he didn't because he knew he was going to stay all along. Vetoed every trade. His attempt to push the front office into picking up a good teammate brought us two more championships, with him leading the way. He knew exactly what he was doing.1 point

You don't think people working 2, 3 jobs just to get food on their table for their family in a tiny apartment deserve a bit of a tax break over those who have a big surplus of money even after acquiring those basic necesseties? Just because one doesn't have a family who can afford to put them through college, or didn't do particularly well in high school does NOT mean they are working any less hard than those making 250K.1 point

I didn't realize I mad it sound like you hit the lotto, but you make it sound like nothing. 250k is lower upper class. No doubt about it. LOL, yeah I'm sure they are creating jobs because they care. More like they are creating jobs so people can go make money for them. Don't try to candy coat [expletive]. Losing money? Their money is being reinvested in the nation, and used to make schools, fire departments, get the country out of a recession. If you have more to give back than you should give back. Plain and simple. 250k isn't rich, but in 10 years that's 2.5 million, trust me those people aren't too bad off.1 point

If you are making 250 K a year that is a lot of [expletive]ing money. The average American makes about 40 K, that is a [expletive]ing 625% increase.1 point

Yeah, so cold-hearted that those people are the ones who create the most jobs through small businesses. You're still taking more away from their hard earned money than you should be. Whether its a 2% or 10% increase they're still losing money.1 point

A coach is worth a first rounder for sure, probably more. It's what separates a team like the Cowboys from a team like the Pats. The only exception to this is the Colts because they essentially have a player/coach in Peyton Manning. I do believe coaching is much more important in football (not just pro football but college as well) than in baseball, basketball, or hockey...and it really is not close. Most say football games are not won on Sundays, but during the week leading up to the game. I completely support that. Identifying and exploiting weaknesses of an opponent, and to deploy his own resources to exploit those weaknesses is the difference between a winner and a loser most of the time. I remember one reporter asked Steve Spurrier when he was coaching the Skins if he saw anything in upcoming opponent's defenses that he thought he could exploit. He went on to say "No we don't really pay too much attention to what they're doing, we just worry about what we're doing..." I knew from that point that we were not going to be successful under him.1 point

That's not a defenseless player. That's a player who's turning to go upfield with the ball in his hands. Good hit, that's how football should be played.1 point

Taxes aren't bad because they're a necessary part of life in America. However, I think its ridiculous to increase taxes on those who are making over 250K a year when the majority of that bracket are small business owners who create tons of jobs. Taxing them more limits their revenue which in turn limits the amount of people they can employ. We also have a ton of people who don't pay taxes here either which just adds to the animosity people have towards higher taxes. What are you guys' thoughts on a flat tax? I've heard that idea floating around several times before but I never really looked into its benefits.1 point
-
How old are you? When you're of age to pay taxes and realize a huge portion of your annual salary is going to a government that is not spending all of its taxpayer money in beneficial ways, then you'll understand why people complain.1 point

Okay? So...you take a statement from one person and claim that the entire Obama administration is to blame, then you bring Bush into it, taking a shot at Obama supporters? Who should speak for the entire administration? Just curious. Should Obama duct tape his mouth shut? Does Obama have a remote control for Holder? Are you one of those Super Republicans? We have some of those flying around our town...the ones that blame Obama for the oil leak, 9/11 and WW2.1 point
