I personally have no sympathy for the owners in this. No one is forcing them to overpay to get mediocre players. They complain about player's salaries but no one points a gun to their head telling them to give Drew Gooden 32 million, Amir Johnson 34 million, Luke Walton 30 million, etc. Owners are their own worst enemies. Mike Conly is a good PG, not worth 9 mil a year and Memphis would have been better off matching an offer sheet than outbidding themselves. As for the CBA negotiations, both sides are so far apart I fully expect a lockout. Stern wants a whole new system while the players just want to tweak the current one. Personally, I like the current system but clearly needs to be tweaked. I think the players own the ultimate trump card if they decertify the union. No more salary cap, no more age limits, no more maximum roster sizes, no more draft. It's not what will be best for the league, but it would be fun to see Stern lose his [expletive] if it happens.2 points

sounds like a name of a no named team that would face the globetrotters and always lose2 points

lmfao, no one wants Luke, dude. he's owed $17M over the next three years. this is just a money move for the Lakers. dumping Sasha's contract and getting the cheap Smith in exchange essentially saves Buss $5M. it's not that bad of a deal. they really had no need for Sasha anymore with guys like Brown and Barnes, and now they at least get some type of insurance in case Bynum or Ratliff go down again.2 points

He shoots better from 3 than he does from the field. That pretty much sums up JR Smith.1 point

The number of DDS sims are lacking but from my experience they usually better in quality. I was once in a DDS sim that lasted 2-3 years and there is currently is an active one going on right now (I think), but I can't remember the site. I will look into in the morning.1 point

I'm sure they are devastated by the loss of your business, your boycotting is sure to pay off in the future.1 point

I read Jerry ends up saving 9 million in luxury tax from this deal (more if you include the 1st rounder which we probably would've sold anyways), so financially this was a great move. This probably helps him recover some of the MLE money he spent this offseason for Steve Blake. Joe Smith isn't going to play much, but neither was Sasha so it's a wash. NJ now has Sasha and Farmar I wonder if we could dump Walton on their hands as well.1 point

How unrealistic is this? Barrett and Nexus finally fire Cena, and Cena never ends up missing one Raw and then gets Nexus to hire him back? How far is the WWE going to go to bury every challenger to Cena?1 point

Other than the Knicks, no other team will take Melo in February, unless he signs the extension first. Trades are a two-way street. Now wait a minute...I can pull up a lot of Shaq quotes where he has slammed Bryant well before Kobe said that about him last summer. Did you see the interview, by the way? Kobe laughed after he said it. Again, you can hate Kobe for whatever reason, but I don't feel like it's fine to hate the dude for something like that OR for putting his kids on the court after the season is over. He's cocky on the court...that's a reason to hate him (even though Jordan was as well). He's the closest to MJ, and people say it all the time...a reason to despise Bryant (and that's probably the biggest reason for you, really). I love Jordan. He's the GOAT. I don't like many other Jordan fans who seem to overrate him. It's incredibly difficult to overrate a nearly perfect player, but there are many who still do it...and the worst part is when they do it by slamming everyone else that has played in his era or outside of it.1 point

Because with the luxury cap, the Lakers save six million bucks. This is a money dump. First round picks DON"T PLAY SERIOUS MINUTES for championship-level teams. Assuming the Lakers have a great season, the number 27-30 pick isn't going to crack the rotation the first two or three years that player is in the NBA. Might as well save some cash. Smith is an upgrade over Derrick Caracter for a team trying to win a title. The Lakers are probably much more comfortable with their backcourt than frontcourt.1 point

Good deal for the Lakers. They save money and it's not like Sasha was a key player...1 point

Since you seem to know how the 2012 season is going to play out, would you mind telling me where the Raptors will finish so I don't waste my time watching the games? Seriously though, I'm sure that there will be at least some protection on the Rockets 1st and I'd be shocked if it wasn't at least top 10 protected for the first year, if not lottery protected. I can't see Morey giving up an unprotected 1st considering the "character issues" with Williams.1 point

I expected this to happen anyways... And he would have gotten his [expletive] whopped by Blake Griffin anyways1 point

I can't state how much I'm so glad that Sasha is off our team. So what if Joe Smith is not good. Theo Ratliff is not that good either and I remember some of us were cheering how we signed Ratliff. This just gives more depth with Ratliff for two big bodies to take unnecessary fouls for Pau & Bynum.1 point

Prokohorov is a genius!!! First Jordan Farmar and now Sasha Vujacic?!? So THAT'S his blueprint for greatness, steal the scrubs away from championship teams and build from the bottom to the top....BRILLIANT!!!1 point

[expletive] give me Joe Smith over Sasha any day. Joe Smith will just be another big body to to have out their to take 6 fouls for the team.1 point

OTR is a cool website, while we do have good posters, I still like the humor the site has, a forum should be great to talk on, learn from others while being able to laugh from time to time.1 point

Activity is better on other boards, for sure...but that definitely doesn't matter much to me. I'll take the general NBA knowledge we have. That's the entire point. I'd rather discuss basketball with Phil Jackson and Gregg Popovich, just those two, than 200+ football or baseball fans, all in the same room, that have never watched a single NBA game all the way through.1 point

I hear what you're sayng, but I hate when people make generalized comments like that. Like every single person in congress and the government is a bad guy, they're out to get us. Come on, it's not always like that.1 point

I guess so. Here in about five minutes, I'm going to get into my car and go drive up northwest a little, over by the Country Club, and just stand there and scream because I'm in the center of the US.1 point
