  1. There is a TON of cases of this and there is also of ton more of cases were individuals can't afford treatment and pass away.

  2. capitalism in medicine=great. we have so much competition with all of 2 health insurance providers in each state. not to mention both do everything in their power to screw over the customer. i like how you have to use an example from a foreign country though when I can easily provide you with examples and personal experiences of how corrupt the US health care system is.

  5. Gasol doesn't get into position enough to capitalize on his touches. There are too many times where he's at a guard position in the triangle offense (where Bryant or Fish need to be), or he takes the high post in a second triangle variation, which disallows his low post presence. Warning: my court sucks. I'm in a hurry creating the images, sorry. One variation of the triangle that takes our two bigs into the post (when both are in the game, and Kobe isn't showing post with just Drew or Gasol in)... http://i55.tinypic.com/20kc3dl.jpg The spots show where they start (Gasol gets up the court faster than Drew, Kobe and Ron are interchangeable and Fisher has already dished the ball off at this point). In fact, both guards and Ron can be interchangeable, you can ignore their positioning as long as you establish Kobe getting the ball. Fisher to Ron, and then Ron passes to Bryant and cuts to and through the corner. Drew slides down to the post, Gasol over to his post, Fisher at the top of the key. http://i54.tinypic.com/zl6elg.jpg Notice the two triangles formed, and the spacing. Kobe now has many options, and this places him as the facilitator. He can make the post entry pass to Gasol. He can also drive to the rim, then kick out to Ron. He can take the shot himself. While this is happening, Fisher has the option to create more space between him and Bryant, if he feels Bryant will drive and create. The more space Fisher creates, the bigger chance his man loses him and closes in on a post or Kobe. Of course, Gasol and Drew can change out, depending on the match-ups. In a reset, the triangle can be re-formed on the same side, opposite side, Gasol can take the high post, or it can be ditched altogether and become a two-man P&R between Kobe and a big, Ron and Fish take the corners and spot up for threes in a penetration situation. --------- Now, to my point. Gasol has never attempted 15 FGA per game in a season. Not even with Memphis, as a primary option. The reason is because he has trouble positioning himself on the court. He is a high IQ player that is very indecisive. He holds the ball too long when down low OR up high, waits for shooters to move when the offense isn't set up that way, and he doesn't wait for the double to actually stick to him long enough to matter, and it's hurting both his FGA and his aggressiveness and effectiveness during games, forcing others to take shots late in the clock and making it much easier for opposing defenses to defend five players on the court. This has been a problem for years, guys. It was a huge problem when Odom needed to become a post player pre-Gasol, and we had to rely on Kwame and Mihm, who were terrible at keeping space because they both wanted shot opportunities and didn't accept their roles correctly, to the point where Phil was starting Walton and hoping to post him up. It's not about lack of touches, it's about lack of effective positioning. You can see it every game. Unfortunately, when Gasol does get that position, he's not as aggressive as Bynum is, and that's why more and more are starting to value Drew's presence down low...because he's playing the role he's asked to, and he's more physical and willing to put the ball in the hoop. I shouldn't have to create images and explain the triangle, though. We've been watching the same offense since Shaq was here. Difference is, we never had that post presence that Shaq gave us, not even with Drew (because he's not a willing passer, although he's improving on it slowly), and if we were looking at Gasol to be that low post presence, we were sadly mistaken, and all we needed to do was look back on his play in Memphis to confirm that.

  7. Yeah Sullinger is a bit out of shape... chance to really go top 3-4 but decides to go back. If he doesn't get into better shape, and get in even worse shape, his stock can plummet. Irving (from Melbourne, Australia btw ) is going #1 baby. This is a quicker version of Chris Paul.

  9. dude socialized medicine is for gurls, lets have doctors compete against eachother, its best for everyone. the day we become socialized medicine, is the day our name changes to united states of China. I really don't want that to happen.

  10. Nah man, we have to protect the insanely rich business conglomerates rather than our fellow, common man. It's hypocritical too, giving the Anglophobic history of this country and opposition of the old British class system given the fact we are now resembling it.

  12. There's a reason why more and more European countries are moving away from these practices. Canada's health care system is a major fail as well whether you guys will admit it or not. Socialized medicine = FAIL and more useless spending.

  13. There is no tie breaker for the lottery. If two teams finish with the same record, they both get the average of their respective positions in the lottery. If neither one of the two teams win the lottery, a coin flip is then done to determine who picks first and who picks second between the two teams that have the same record. If that doesn't make sense (because even as I read it I realize it doesn't sound too clear), here is an example. If Cleveland and Minnesota both finish the season tied for the worst record, you take the average number of ping pong balls that they can recieve so it would be 250 + 199 = 449. You divide that by 2 to get 244.5 balls for each team, but since 249 is an odd number, a coin flip will be done and whoever wins the coin flip would get 245 balls while the loser would get 244 balls. Should neither one of Cleveland or Minny end up with a top 3 pick, whoever won that coin flip for the extra ball would then get the 4th pick and the loser would get the 5th pick.

  18. Vince was a superstar for probably 3 seasons, and was an elite wing for nearly a decade. I feel like people are really sleeping on the lack of talent VC had in Toronto. He won 47 games with only having one player above 10 PPG (Antonio Davis at 13.7 on only 43%). He won 45 the year before with a young T-Mac as his 2nd option, who was still extremely inconsistent and basically a defensive stopper. Sure, Vince never won any hardware, but it wasn't his fault. He was basically in a similar situation to LBJ, the only difference is LBJ is on a different level and was able to achieve more because simply, he is one of the best ever, while Vince was just a great player, LBJ is a once in a life time player. http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/TOR/ Honestly, check those teams and from 99-01 and tell me again it is VC's fault he never won anything.

  19. VC was an elite wing for what? 2 seasons don't make you a HOFer. The HOF is based on your entire career, and VC's simply doesn't deserve HOF consideration. AL brought up something I didn't realize: VC never won 50 games except last year when he was just a shell of his former self. And he played the majority of his career in an era where the East was pathetically weak. Even still, no 50 win seasons and never got past the 2nd round. VC was an exciting player to watch and a good scorer, but his overall floor impact during his career isn't all that impressive. If guys like Kevin Johnson, who IMO is better, isn't in the HOF (and he shouldn't), then VC shouldn't even sniff it. But to be fair, I also have a higher expectation of what a HOFer is and if I had a choice, I'd remove a few guys who are in.

  25. Seriously? You won the lottery to draft LeBron James less than 10 years ago. Try being a Raptor fan. They win the lottery in 1996, but because of some ridiculous rule that states expansion teams aren't allowed the 1st pick in the draft for something like 3 years after they have been in the league, they lose out on Allen Iverson and instead draft Marcus Camby. Then the next time they win the lottery it just so happens to be the first year after players aren't allowed to enter the draft straight out of high school. So instead of drafting Greg Oden or Kevin Durant, the Raptors get stuck with Andrea Bargnani. Now this season they are projected to pick 4th in what is looking highly likely to be a two person draft in Irving and Williams. It just so happens that one of those two players (Williams) might not even be that good of a fit on the Raptors anyways. So really, boo freaking hoo. You tank, draft LeBron become an elite team for the next 7 years or so, lose LeBron and tank another season and you are bitching about shitty luck? Give me a break.

  26. Haha. So you want VC and Tmac to be in the HOF... you do realize they never played a lick of D right? If the HOF isn't for defense only than it damn sure shouldn't be offense only. Correct? Rodman's accomplishments speak for themselves: 5× NBA Champion (1989–1990, 1996–1998) 2× NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1990–1991) 2× NBA All-Star (1990, 1992) 2× All-NBA Third Team (1992, 1995) 7× All-Defensive First Team (1989–1993, 1995–1996) All-Defensive Second Team (1994) 7× NBA rebounding champion (1992–1998)
