  2. i somewhat feel like we can't openly criticize or critique certain members. for example, if I call out fish for making what I see as an awful post, nothing bad happens, but if I call someone else out, it feels like it leads to warnings and suspensions. i feel that the community can't grow if we can't criticize each other. as for threads like random thoughts or the us soccer thread, i'm fine with those since it is news and random shit being posted in there and not having a million threads that it seems not many people care about. there are quite a few guys that have posted in soccer threads in the past though when active. activity for the sake of activity is never good. i don't have the bft-level knowledge of the game, so I tend not to respond to his posts a lot, mainly because i feel like i'll look like an idiot. however when posting an article, it is probably good to leave your thoughts in there too if you have any, rather than just posting random stories for the hell of it. if it is big news, like say lebron out for season with injury, then yeah, you really don't need to add much to it because everyone knows what that would mean. if it is something like backup PG out for a month, then post what you feel will happen to the team in that span. if you are making a thread to poll a community on a topic, don't do something very obscure without providing much insight, unless you are asking a general question, and then why include a poll or ask a very vague question in the first place? furthermore, i don't see the point in responding to a post saying agreed, +1, etc. if you have nothing to add, why post? the rep button is there, hit that. this especially becomes frustrating when someone like bft will post a 5 page essay on a topic, someone will quote it, and say "yep, i agree with that, took the words from my mouth". ok, first of all, you were never going to write, and are probably not capable of writing prose like BFT. second, what does that add? if you agree with him and have nothing else to add, rep him, or quote him and expand or question some of his ideas. but if he says something that is common knowledge or backups up his reasoning, don't ask a dumb question, because then that becomes frustrating for the person that posted it in the first place. finally, everyone needs to stop the goddamn bickering. just be open to criticism. we all can obviously get along, and have been doing so for years. i see no reason to constantly bring up stupid shit ecn has said in the past in every thread. there is a time and place for some of it, but keep it out of every damn thread. random notes: we don't need two fantasy basketball leagues when we can't fill up one as it is the fantasy football debacle was stupid, and both sides need to quit being assholes why join a pickem league or fantasy league for a sport you know nothing about, it just ruins it for the rest of the competitors don't go into a board/thread about a sport you don't understand and start making posts, unless you seriously want to understand. i see no reason for brandon to go into the maple leafs general thread and start talking about how player xy is going to make a huge impact when he doesn't know what icing is. there are also certain members i'd like to publicly call out for having the balls to put up with shit: flash srv any other heat fan you guys put up with more shit posting than any other fanbase at the moment, and you don't hold grudges.

  4. I'm going to start affiliating with other message boards and websites again, so if you know of anyone that would be interested, let them know. Just make sure that they are a credible site, and any message boards we affiliate need to have 500+ members, have been up for 9+ months, and have 50,000+ posts. Those number requirements aren't set in stone, and I may tag a couple of boards that are younger (and may decline others that meet the requirements), but it's just a general idea of what I'm looking for. As of right now, we're just in it to swap links. I'm not going to spend money to place an ad on their site, and I don't expect them to do the same thing. Relating to what sites we would be interested in, mainly your typical four sports (basketball, football, baseball and hockey). Video game sites would work, I suppose. We will also consider one-team sites (such as LakerNation) as long as they are basketball.

  5. It's amazing how you don't answer the question either, kinda like everyone pointed out in Cobb's thread

  6. It's not exactly what we're looking for. During the NBA season (starting November), we take discussion seriously. We aren't looking to merge with any other site, or relocate. We've been around since 2005, nearly one million posts (which over half have been deleted due to a hack), and easily reaching 1,000+ posts per day in our prime. Of course, our worst months occur in the NBA offseason and heading into the preseason. Our direction seems different (regarding the two websites and how discussion is generated), and we have never merged with another site to begin with, so as far as that goes, it's out of the question for, honestly, any site.

  7. I suppose this is related to the Sixers, so...how are the colors in the team forum? I had to change them up. The blue was really dark, red didn't match. :/

  8. Welcome to the site. Any plans to stick around and join in on some of our discussions? We are looking to add to each of our fanbases (and especially the Nets fanbase), so we could use all the help we can get. If so, you can place your website and Twitter in your signature space, so each time you post your thoughts on a game, article, etc...you're basically promoting your links at the same time.

  9. Okay, all of the banners are up (no players), and I fixed the colors on probably 6-7 different team forums (some of them were just horrible...so sorry about that). Damn you guys for not telling me...because I know you had to have noticed, haha.

  11. Done. And I also fixed the blue...didn't realize how off I was until I slapped the logo on there at 100% opacity.

  12. As good as Amir was in the game agaisnt Real Madrid, he was equally as awful in the game tonight. He was a complete dud tonight, especially when it came to guarding Drummond. He completely lost track of him on 3 seperate occasions and they all lead to oops for Drummond. He also did a terrible job boxing him out and that enabled him a couple of uncontested tip ins as well. He was also back to the old Amir picking up really stupid fouls. Calderon looked awesome on offense. Over the first two preseason games he has been less ball dominant and is spotting up in the corners/elbows in transition which is very nice to see since he is the best shooter on this team. I like how he doesn't insist on being the one to bring the ball up the floor anymore. His jumper was money tonight and I thought he did a nice job of not dominating the ball. Defensively, well, he was his usual self. Knight was able to get by him at will. Watching Knight split Calderon and Bargnani's doubles was almost comical. It was like they weren't even there. For the second straight night I liked what I saw from DeRozan. He started out the game with 2 straight trips to the line after aggressive takes and then followed that up with posting Stuckey up and drawing another foul. I also remember seeing him take Knight in the post, back him down, spin baseline and finish in the paint. I like his committment to working in the post and attacking the paint. Hopefully he keeps that up. Bargnani looked like crap again. Fields looked better but still not quite sure what to do at times. I think he'll play better when Lowry is on the floor as his dribble penetration will open things up for Fields to do what he does best; cutting and moving without the ball. If Anderson and Kleiza play like they did tonight, Anderson should be getting the backup small forward minutes instead of Kleiza. Anderson was much, much better than Linas tonight. Now, lastly, the moment all Raptor fans were waiting for, Jonas Valanciunas. He didn't play a whole lot but I liked what I saw from him. Defensively he was defintiely a factor with his length. Monroe really struggled shooting over him and I believe Valanciunas blocked 3 or 4 of his attempts simply because of his length. You can tell that the Pistons were aware of his presence on defense. I really like his mobility on defense. That probably impressed me more than the blocked shots. I specifically remember one play where he hedged hard on a screen beyond the left elbow arc and then quickly rotated back down to deflect the post entry pass on the right block to Monroe and then he had the presence of mind to throw the ball off of Monroe to force the turnover. I was really impressed by that play. Offensively he clearly has a lot of work. There was one play where they isolated him on the left block and it wasn't pretty. He defintiely shouldn't be getting many post up opportunities during the course of the season. However, I did like what I saw from him in terms of rolling. Him rolling hard to the basket resulted in a basket for himself, a DeRozan dunk and two open Bargnani 3's (one made and one missed). Him rolling hard to the basket on every pick is going to create a lot of open looks for his teammates. He certainly has a lot of work to do and there will be some serious growing pains, but all in all, I liked what I saw from him tonight.
