Wrestlemania 28 Discussion
Real Deal replied to Cleveland's Finest's topic in MMA, Wrestling and Boxing Forum
Looks it, but I doubt he is. He looked that way when he was fighting in the UFC, really. Vince has been obsessed with bodybuilding since his dad landed him a spot in the wrestling business (before that, actually), so you're probably going to see Brock looking more cut as the weeks go by. But, I can't assume he's out of shape by the way he looks. He still had slabs of muscle laying all over his upper body when he was fighting his last UFC match, so I'm sure he's just not the same Brock we remember in his first run with the WWE, more than him needing to hit the gym. I'm sure Vince will want him to look more like Otunga, though. Look how big Rocky is...probably the biggest he has ever been in the ring. -
Just something I found funny, since everyone was talking about dogs and cats earlier... http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/532656_389527711072408_100000455465739_1374544_1657182569_n.jpg

Championship: #2 Kansas vs. #1 Kentucky
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in General NCAA Discussion
The year was pretty awkward for us. Before the first game, the Kansas State fans were talking crazy...about how they were going to win the Big 12, and how we would finish near the middle of the pack, how we were rebuilding, etc. Now, we just finished up with the championship game, and K-State fell early in the tourney and lost Frank Martin to SC (and get Weber, lol). Funny how things work. -

:o Damn. That's sick. I figured he was going to go after Taker. LMAO...I had a feeling he wouldn't leave. All of that shit-talking (about Punk's family) had to be for more than just the WM match. I'm assuming the crowd was still going ballistic, since they stayed in Miami. -

The missed floaters were killing us. Every single floater that went up, I expected it to hit the highest part of the backboard, and it usually did. Johnson, Taylor...they were throwing them up so high, and sometimes so fast, that they would bounce high off the glass and hard enough to barely graze the front of the rim on the way back down. I've had a problem with Robinson the entire tournament, not just tonight. He shot 39% against those first five teams of the tourney, leading up to this game (where he shot 35%). A great deal of those misses were near or under the rim, shots that he should have made or attempted to dunk (instead of laying up off the glass), and because of the positioning, teams were grabbing the defensive board and creating fast break opportunities without Robinson and Withey getting back in time. There are a lot of KU fans that probably don't like hearing it, since they all love Robinson and think the world of him because of his story...but he did not play like one of the best players in college basketball during this tournament. Not when you consider the physical advantages he has had over his opponents. Withey is the guy that shut down Sullinger, and he also shut down Davis on the offensive end. He's the one that anchored our defense, and I can argue that he made rebounding much easier for Thomas Robinson as well, usually boxing out the better rebounders and allowing Robinson to manhandle the "smaller" big man. I hope Taylor goes undrafted, though. I haven't really liked his play all season long. He was turning the ball over far too many times at one point, almost playing like he didn't give a damn about the team...and after being a guy that I didn't mind pulling up for three every once in a while, he turned into Andre [expletive]ing Miller from behind the arc. -

So Brock really came back? :o Is Jericho done, or was he on Raw? I was going to try and download it and watch the entire show, but I really don't want to if I didn't miss much. -

I'm not sure if you're serious or not. Do you realize how many people can't stand him for what he did? -------- Anyway, I'm not going to be one of those Kansas fans that sits there and hesitates to criticize the team, talking about how sad this shit is, etc. They cut the lead to five, had a chance to close in, but had three consecutive mistakes (horrible turnover, a potential steal that they decided to let go out of bounds - until UK grabbed the ball, and a bad travel by Johnson because he was afraid of Davis). That's at least six points and the lead, if they could score buckets on each of those, but KU has been consistent only with their small (yet, large in magnitude) mistakes throughout the game. The one thing I said over and over again was that Kentucky was not going to be a team that KU wants to be down against...not by 18-19 points. I knew they would see a gap, and make a very good attempt at jumping it (because that's what we always do, in the second half), but our offense has been horrid through the entire tournament, compared to what we had been doing throughout the regular season. Robinson and Taylor came in and did their thing...about 30 minutes too late. We needed consistency throughout the game, and it wasn't there. They were the two guys I feared would lose this game for us, and they really did. Withey did extremely well making sure Davis didn't get any easy buckets, held him to 1-10 shooting...and Robinson did great on the glass. I thought Releford did a wonderful job on Kidd-Gilchrist (which I expected). Other than that, though...nothing else is worth mentioning, aside from Kentucky being a great team. -

Got a Lakers fan on Twitter mad because I talk about KU more than I do the Lakers. Serious. Sorry, but the Lakers can step aside when it comes to Kansas basketball. -

Jericho saying he's going to move on...doesn't seem like he will. I just don't understand any of that, from the crazy vignettes that meant nothing in the end, to Jericho just losing over and over again at the PPV's for no reason at all? All for a three-month return? Just odd to me. -

Taker/HHH was easily the best match, but the ending to the Rock/Cena was incredible, partially because of how bad ass the crowd was, and more because I really wanted Rocky to win that, more than anything else. -

I can say the same thing about how bad KU has played against teams, and still pulling out wins. Hell, that's been the story of the tournament, actually. Indiana is also an average defensive team...average at their absolute best. Kentucky dropped 500 points on them because of it. Louisville held Kentucky to under 70. The hottest team in the tournament in regards to...what? Louisville wasn't going to beat Kentucky, and they were lucky against Florida...had to rely on the Gators with the ultimate choke. The UNM Lobos had to choke also. Louisville is the same team that was sliding out of the rankings near the end of the season, mainly because they couldn't score the ball. The only win I give full credit to them for is the Michigan State victory, because their defense was nothing short of amazing...but again, I'm surprised they scored 55+ in that game. How many true seven-footers did he play this season? I'm not saying he struggled in any game (aside from the Bama game, of course, but both Green and Jacobs outweigh him by 30-35 pounds each), but you're underrating what Withey can do just because he's not a top pick in the NBA draft. The game they had against each other, Self pulled Withey out for quite a bit of it, had Robinson trying to defend Davis. http://espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=313192305 KU, who was known as the rebuilding team at that time (just the second game of their season, and had no shot at getting to the Sweet 16, in the minds of many), kept the game close...and even maintained the tie into the first half. This was with Tyshawn playing horrible basketball at the beginning of the year, acting as if he didn't have a team, and Bill Self trying to figure out what lineup would be the best. Ten point game. Kentucky is really no different than they were at the beginning of the season. KU is miles ahead of where they started, something you will even acknowledge. Right now, there is no better team to knock off Kentucky. Yeah, I know, you basically HAVE to say that because of the circumstance, but out of the other 63 in the tourney, Kansas has the goods to get it done because of what they have up front. While some teams are forced to start a player the size of Robinson at the five, KU has the room to play him at his natural position, with a true seven-footer that anchors the defense...and what makes the Wildcats so good is also what makes KU one of the best teams in college basketball as well. -

Releford won't be dominated. He may have trouble, but this isn't going to be LeBron James in an Ohio State uniform, either. Self is going to have to be aware of his rotations when Kentucky subs in and out. They will come with guns blazing when Teahan is in the game. I really hope Releford and Johnson get a LOT of time on the floor together, and maybe Self even tries Young on MKG (if Releford gets into foul trouble). I don't think Davis will be as good as everyone believes, by the way. Not against Withey. I'm most worried about the other three on the court for Kentucky. Jones and Lamb could easily get theirs. I just hope to God that Taylor lets Teague chuck, if he soaks in the spotlight a bit too much. That's really the one thing I'm hoping to see out of Kentucky, and honestly, that could open the door for a Kansas run. The idea is that it will be a cakewalk. Everyone said the same thing with Calipari's 38-1 (going into the game) Memphis team that we beat in 2008, that there was no way we were going to beat Rose, CDR and Dorsey. Memphis won every previous game in the tourney with EASE, minus the second round, where Calipari decided to flirt with the rotations and get his guys rest. Kentucky may have more star power than that Tigers squad, and over many squads over the years...but Louisville made them play hard for 40 minutes, and so did Indiana. The difference between Kansas and Louisville? KU plays nearly the same level of defense, but they are a much better scoring team...and if Louisville didn't shoot 35% and completely drop the ball on the offensive end, they could have won. -
Just read a few things about Miami, and this caught my eye: Also, this gem about Cole... Forgive me for wondering how the Heat are going to beat an elite defensive team in seven games if LeBron OR Wade struggle most of the series, in the same way I wonder about the Lakers if Kobe or Drew has major trouble. Just last year, Wade had problems in the Chicago series, if I recall correctly, and we know what happened to James against Dallas. Do the Heat even have a legitimate sixth man to depend on? Looking at the roster, it seems like Chalmers is the fourth best player on this team...which was impossible for most Heat fans to admit early in the year, when they thought Norris Cole was going to dominate and take the starting role. Now, Cole is shooting 40% or so, Haslem can't even find his way to 45% despite all of the bunnies he's spoon-fed, and Battier (who is open all the time) shoots under 39%. Yet, as a whole, the team is shooting 48% and #1 in the NBA, lol.

Final Four: #2 Ohio State vs. #2 Kansas
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in General NCAA Discussion
You would stick 6-9 Terrence Jones on a legitimate seven-foot Jeff Withey? I understand that Withey isn't the offensive player T-Rob is, but this is the guy that took advantage of a mismatch against Baylor, and dropped 25 points on them, 8-10 shooting and I believe 9-11 FT. I would think Calipari has enough trust in Jones, thinking that he could hold Robinson and receive the help D once he gets deep enough with the ball. Jones' wingspan alone will make it a bit easier to challenge shots. -

Withey was on Sully for most of the game, actually. You're probably going to see Sullinger's stock drop a bit, too, because it showed that he struggles greatly against taller defenders. Ford even mentioned this on his Twitter: In the second half, I was PRAYING for OSU to throw it into Sullinger. He was dominated tonight. I have no doubt that Withey will play a lot versus Anthony Davis, because Self does not want Robinson trying to score against him, and Withey does not need to be involved in the offense for us to win. I know all of the hype is around Robinson and Taylor, and I keep saying this...but Jeff Withey is the MVP of this Kansas team, hands down. His impact on the defensive end is incredible. I believe only two of Sully's buckets came on Withey, out of the five he made, of 19 attempts. Not even I could have predicted that. KU is going to have to go nuts against UK. Robinson has to be there the entire game, and this is IT for Tyshawn Taylor. This is either Mario Chalmers, or Sherron Collins, in regards to the magnitude of this game. -

Cool. -
Kobe is shooting poorly throughout these games, but he had a big quarter every now and then that actually gives us a small boost. No quarter like that in this game, but it's hilarious that he took (and made) that game-winning three.

Final Four: #2 Ohio State vs. #2 Kansas

You either call a double foul, because both were hit in the face by each other, or you let it go. Like I said, the referee was watching the most important part of the play, which was the shot itself, and the rebound after. Both players were not involved in the shot, and not in position to grab the board (even if there was no contact). Does it change the game? Nobody knows. If the double foul is called, KU is still up and with the ball. Nowhere did I say that the calls "evened out" during the sequence (the last minute or so). Obviously, you're not watching the video I posted. Robinson was hit in the face as well. Both hit each other in the face. You aren't going to call it in favor of one player. How does that not make any sense to you? -

Then you had no reason to post, lol. You know damn well I will tell you when a foul is a foul, don't care what team, even if it's LA. If you go back and look at the video I posted, it's clear as day the contact was incidental, and even then, Thomas' arm comes up and hits Robinson's face AT THE SAME TIME. No referee calls that, for either player. Neither was in position for the board coming far left off the rim. If you have played, coached, or had to referee a game (I've done all three), you would know this. -

I'm not even sure what you're saying now. The shooter wasn't fouled. Do you watch ball and have any idea how much physical incidental contact happens off the ball? You're hilarious. -

I'm cracking up. Withey blocked the shot right after he put it up. Robinson's arm/elbow caught Thomas (I believe that's who that was) in the face right as the shot was being blocked. Would you like the replay of it? Withey didn't touch him. EDIT: The shot wasn't even attempted by Thomas, lol. The attempt was by Buford. LOL...what the hell were you watching? http://espn.go.com/video/clip?categoryId=2459792&id=7761076 The referee is going to watch the shooter, to make sure he isn't fouled. He wasn't. Withey got a clean block, no foul on the shot, KU won by true grit and their adjustments.
