Rockets, Timberwolves remain in hot pursuit of Pau Gasol
Real Deal replied to Dash's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
Nope. That's not how the Lakers go about business, and most teams in the NBA will wait it out, to make sure someone like Dwight Howard isn't going to be on the block on the 14th. I can assure you that's what the Rockets and Warriors are waiting for, probably Boston as well. Gasol is a good player, but Howard is a superstar. If the Warriors (for example) think they can trade half of their team for Howard, they will wait it out and still have the Lakers on the line on the 14th or 15th, because they know that LA will be doing the same (since they also want DH12). It makes a lot of sense to me that Boston is interested, even if they didn't want to trade Rondo. Having a center would do wonders for them. Golden State is interested mainly because they also need a big, and Jerry West is in love with Pau's game. Houston has been interested since December, and that was confirmed by the CP3 trade. Makes sense that Minnesota would be because of Rubio. Orlando wants Drew + Gasol if they were to finally put Howard on the block. Philly was rumored to want him for Iguodala, at one point, before someone decided to flip that around and say it was Odom (or vice-versa). That's five that make sense, and were rumored to want Gasol, all coming from legitimate sources (didn't count Philly because I have no idea where that came from). I'm sure those teams are still interested, and there may be a few others. I'm not expecting superstars if we trade JUST Gasol...but there's no way we should trade a big man for guys we really don't need, doesn't matter the talent they have, unless they are very, very good players (we don't need Wade, but I'm not that stupid...I'd move Kobe to the three for him to play the two, or even let him play the point...pipe dream that will never happen, but you know what I'm saying). -
You guys said that, and then he misses his three-point attempt to win the game. Point is, one clutch shot to go into OT (assuming it was his, I didn't get to see the game until 3 minutes into the OT) doesn't erase the fact that he passes up on a lot of shots he should take in those situations. Sundiata Gaines hit a game-winner once.

Houston trying to land Pau Gasol today
Real Deal replied to magicbalala245's topic in General NBA Discussion
We need a PG that can facilitate the offense. Dragic isn't that guy. The other players we would get in return don't fill the holes we have to cover up in order to win a championship, so there's no point in the trade. -
https://twitter.com/#!/MrMichaelLee/status/178274222576115713 This had me cracking up. I believe it to be true, also.

We had one a LONG time ago, may have been on the old board. I actually created the forum on TLN back in the summer of 2008. http://lakernation.com/forums/index.php?/forum/6-trade-rumors-ideas-and-free-agency-discussion Interesting idea to bring it back, especially now.

Well, that's assuming he's wanting/needing a new processor. If he can get away with just unclogging his fan(s), if that's the problem, and he wants to keep what he has...he has to check into that first. I have worked on so many computers with dust that is inches thick in the fans, it's unreal. But yeah, if it's time to replace the processor, you should just look into a new computer (not necessarily brand new, but you know what I'm saying). A long time ago, that wouldn't be suggested...but these days, it's different, lol.

Rockets, Timberwolves remain in hot pursuit of Pau Gasol
Real Deal replied to Dash's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
Why would LA lose an all-star big man for anything less than youth or all-star talent? Scola still isn't as good as Gasol, and Dalembert is worthless to us. In addition to that, I wouldn't want Kevin Martin on this team. He's not a small forward, and Kobe shouldn't move up to SF, either. Dragic isn't the PG we need. ---------- Williams and Beasley for Gasol works if we're just trying to find young talent, but we aren't budging on Gasol without a PG in the deal, unless we have one lined out for our TPE...and I've yet to hear about that. -
Houston trying to land Pau Gasol today
Real Deal replied to magicbalala245's topic in General NBA Discussion
Gasol isn't going to be dealt without us getting a PG back. That has been the general idea since the CP3 trade was nixed, and even during the playoffs last season, when we were all pissed off at Pau for how he played. Dragic isn't that PG. At least, I hope he's not. I would think the Lakers FO knows better. If Lowry isn't coming to LA, I don't see why a trade would be made between the Lakers and Rockets. -
Open up the computer and check the fans, make sure they aren't clogged with dust.

Regardless, Gasol is gone. I'm just waiting to see who we get in return. -
Blazers Shopping For Point Guards
Real Deal replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in Portland Trail Blazers Team Forum
Portland isn't a bad team...so I'm not really sure they should just stick with what they have. Crawford belongs at the two. He can't defend PG's, can't make plays for anyone...and yes, Felton is horrible this season, and I'm not sure why Lakers fans want him (unless they think he needs relocated, but he's out of shape anyway). It's hard to say they can do better than Ridnour if they aren't willing to give up much. I wonder if there's a three-way trade brewing between Minny, Portland and the Lakers. Maybe Portland would want Blake back. We want Beasley and/or Felton. -

Teams Allowed to be More Physical with Griffin
Real Deal replied to Sħãlïq™'s topic in Los Angeles Clippers Team Forum
All big men say it. That's part of being a big in the NBA...being more physical than any other player on the court. Griffin needs to have a seat and watch some clips of Shaq, if he wants to see just how physical players were with him. -
For the thousandth time (probably the second or third time I've said it), nobody said he tried to break Kobe's nose. The foul was meant to be hard, though, because you don't do that during an All-Star Game...and at the very least, you go for the ball. Can't believe this was actually bumped. Kobe took care of the situation on Sunday, so I'm not sure why it matters now.

Down 6 to 8 teams for Dwight Howard
Real Deal replied to magicbalala245's topic in General NBA Discussion
Drew demands more attention than Bosh did when he was in Toronto. Sorry. You make a statement about who Bosh is playing with right now, but then you tell me that Bynum is only averaging 16 PPG? Uh... He's shooting a better percentage because he's a better big man. He's rebounding the ball better because he's a better big man. He's a legitimate defensive anchor who is arguably the best defensive player on the Lakers right now. Unless Bosh is a small forward or a guard, that means Drew is better. You can throw out all the excuses you want, but Bosh comes nowhere near Bynum on defense, and Bynum is tougher to stop on the offensive end. The Heat would trade Bosh's skinny ass for Drew in a heartbeat...and then they would go on and win an NBA championship, easily. You can go ahead and make your comparisons between Bosh and Gasol, but don't bother putting Bosh against Drew. If we really did trade Gasol for Rondo, you'd see just how nasty Bynum could be as a second scoring option, and it would make the Toronto Bosh look worse than you think. -
Down 6 to 8 teams for Dwight Howard
Real Deal replied to magicbalala245's topic in General NBA Discussion
Haha, no. Drew is by far the better defensive player, by far the better rebounder, and he's also the better scorer, commanding more defensive attention. -

Bosh is not greater than Drew, unless you're predicting the future and saying Drew will injure himself (because all of his injuries have been more to blame on other players). -
I'm not really sure why you'd even bump the topic. All you did was ask if they would cut him, nothing more. In fact... If he plans on playing next season...well, that probably means he's going to be in good health. The cut was because they are afraid he won't last the rest of his contract, and because of the huge chunk of cash he would be paid tomorrow. Let's dissect your main post, the one you quoted for the bump: Did the Colts trade Mathis or Wayne yet? I don't believe so. And, you're asking a question that was presented immediately after his serious injury, since Andrew Luck has been on the minds of every NFL team in desperate need of a QB. Well...doesn't look like they will pay him through the rest of his contract, and they cut him far earlier than you projected (or noted, however you want to put it). Why the bump?
