Assembling the greatest team ever: PG
Real Deal replied to AboveLegit's topic in General NBA Discussion
It's going to be Magic. The year is what's debatable, in my opinion. There was an older poster over at TLN that said that Magic was never better than he was in 1987, that he never had his fingerprints on the game as much as he did in that season, so I'll have to go with what he says. -
If there was no NBA season what would you watch?
Real Deal replied to YugoRocketsFan's topic in General NBA Discussion
I'd be watching football, and eventually, the college basketball season would start. Sucks, regardless. -
Haha, nice catch. Didn't see that...I'll remove it, eventually. Not surprised. Sent from my computer at my house using Cox Cable.

How often do you smoke ganja?
Real Deal replied to YugoRocketsFan's topic in Off-Topic Discussion Forum
No chemically-induced withdrawal (guess that makes sense), but there are those who will have more stress and continuing pain, which is what keeps them smoking it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabis_withdrawal Weed masks pain. My uncle had no idea his lungs were causing him problems until a hernia tore (something he also didn't know was hurting him THAT badly), an infection developed while he recovered from hernia surgery, and it entered his lungs and basically signed and sealed an emergency lung surgery. There are different types of withdrawal symptoms. There's no way I get around any of my uncles if they haven't had any weed for 3-4 days. Not a chance. They are mean as [expletive], very disrespectful. Put that on my life. So, there's something there. Again, sure, people act differently...but if there are examples of withdrawal, there's evidence of addiction, and I know for a fact that there is because I've been around it for 28 years, as the one looking in and being aware of the environment 24/7. -
Erin (a Sixers fan that was one of our original members) created our very first banner, which you'll see at the top. I thought it would be great to show it off. Happy birthday, Erin. Some of you will remember her, no doubt about it. She racked up plenty of posts, and I believe she created sigs for a lot of people. EDIT: removed it from the header, so here's the banner Erin created back in 2005... http://www.otrbasketball.com/banners/OTR2005.jpg

Pretty good so far (haven't listened to it all yet). Can't Get Enough is the best on the album, halfway through.

WTF SPACEMAN SPIFF. :o

The one on the right FTW. I didn't look at the blonde, or the camera, or the other one's face.

I never saw him as a troll or a bad poster. The multiple accounts, and not being able to deal with certain people on OTR (there are always guys that will trash talk you, but not push too hard so they remain a part of the community), is what eventually ruined it for him, and I think he knows that. I was aware of the multiple accounts, actually, for quite a while...broke my own rules and let him stay three separate times, talked to a couple of members here and told them to not reply to anything he says in any topic (to prevent conflict between the two), but it never ended. ------------ There's obviously a story with every banned member, a couple being pretty extreme, to the point where they'll never access their accounts again. The problem with banning people is that, a lot of times, not all of the community can figure out why because some of it is based on deleted posts. I've had MANY members mouth off in a topic, wait for someone to read it, and delete or edit those posts. Thing is, I see them, at that time or later on. I have edits in the database, and I also have all deleted posts since 2005. However, to keep me out of trouble with my host, I have to keep them edited or deleted. A handful of guys weren't aware that there were some really, really shady posters here at OTR, and to be honest, I was looking for a way to get rid of them. Guys were getting away with things, saying things to members and making it to where I couldn't do anything about it, using the PM system (which I can't interfere with, as long as they aren't spamming links, because all members here can block others), and these were issues I needed to deal with. I had to sacrifice a lot of activity going that route, but I can assure everyone that it was the right decision. We can look at other message boards and see why.

I asked this for a couple of reasons, but I honestly wouldn't be opposed to bringing a couple back...just depends. I'm sure a couple of years off the board may be a good thing. People do mature over time (most), or those that weren't trolls are cooled off by now (I'd hope...lol). A couple of accounts were deleted, but they can be brought back, all posts restored, if I really wanted it to happen. Takes some effort, but it can be done.

Maybe it was me, I don't know...but I realized that was a poor word choice (elite). I meant that he was the superior defensive player between him and Rose. I think he's a good defender, not sure if I can stick him up there with Howard, Rondo, Tony Allen, Kobe (when he's engaged), LeBron, or Deng. I may have said that CP3's defense is overrated, at one time, and I'm not sure if I meant it was overrated by the media OR by whoever I was in a debate with.
-
CP3 can run an offense, making him a pure point, and he's also the elite defensive player, so he's clearly the best PG in the NBA.

Dumbest thing I've done in this thing...changed 3-4 games because I did SO bad in the first half of Sunday's games. I changed tonight's game to STL, changed last night to Philly, changed the Pats to the Chargers, and I wasn't sure about Newton, so I picked Green Bay. Did all of those changes just so I could make up for the 3 points I had, ended up with the worst week I've ever had.

Who are the top five Heat of all time?
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in Miami Heat Team Forum
Zo is the second greatest Heat player of all time, next to Wade. I'm not even sure how that's debatable. -

How often do you smoke ganja?
Real Deal replied to YugoRocketsFan's topic in Off-Topic Discussion Forum
If that's not a waste of money, neither is heroin, coke, meth, cigarettes, booze, or basically anything in this world, because there will always be people that "need it" and like it, people that say it's not a waste because they enjoy it, etc. Smoking weed is not like playing video games, though. I have a PS3 and a few games I've spent money on, and it will last me years. I won't be spending near as much as you on weed, which wouldn't last as long. Like I said, it gets people fired. It draws money out of their wallet. I have worked with people that are eating the clouds, they are so damn high, and it's like working with a pillow. They stand around, looking at the wall, going five times slower than me, and praying the clock runs twice as fast so they can get home and roll one. Yeah, there are people that can do it and not be that way, that can smoke 1-2 times a week and that's it, but there are FAR too many that are much, much worse, and if there's no real benefit (there are better ways you can deal with pain and stress), I don't see why it wouldn't be a waste of money. Same with booze and cigarettes. If I wanted to feel good, why wouldn't I just go take my money and have sex with a prostitute? That's a similar argument. It's not hurting anyone, it's my money, it's fun, relieves stress, may be a little unhealthy (just like weed), but I mean, sex = good. Would you consider that a waste of money? I doubt any of us have tried it, so I'm assuming you don't. -
Perkins frustrated with Westbrook's playing style
Real Deal replied to AboveLegit's topic in Oklahoma City Thunder Team Forum
Sad thing is, I don't think Durant has the backbone to be able to handle a conflict like this in the locker room...at least not yet. He just doesn't seem like the guy that could step up and get everyone to shut up and listen to him. So, I'm wondering, who will do that? Perkins has been in the league longer than everyone on this team, aside from Nazr Mohammed (don't think Mo Pete will be there next season). Would Nick Collison say something? He's been with the franchise longer than the rest of the team, six year vet. It's just hard to swallow. Scott Brooks isn't Phil Jackson, so when these things happen, you'd have to wonder how detrimental they will be if they reoccur during the season. -
Paul wasn't banned...he just wanted his account deleted.

...haha.

Just for kicks, what member(s) would you like to see unbanned? http://www.otrbasketball.com/forums/index.php?app=members&module=list Use the Advanced Filter button on the right, go down and where it says "Show All" (drop-down menu), select Banned. Give a reason for that member.

Jamaal Charles out for year - Torn ACL
Real Deal replied to Lkr's topic in AFC Conference Discussion
I've watched every single Chiefs game, every single minute he's played for them (literally). He's not as good as you're advertising. Cassel doing so well in NE was a fluke, and a big thanks to the Pats, for how well their team was constructed around him. Saying he did "nearly just as well" as Tom Brady is like me saying Vince Young is "nearly just as good" as Randall Cunningham. Brady, Rodgers, Peyton, Big Ben, Rivers, Brees, Vick, Eli, Romo, Ryan, Stafford, Bradford, Flacco, Schaub, Cutler, Sanchez...all better than Cassel. I'm sure I'm missing someone. By the end of the season, people will consider Newton better. -

LMAO, yeah dude. My parents went out to a rent-to-own place to get a 52" Vizio, wanted to make payments on it (which meant they were going to spend $4k on the damn thing when it was all said and done), and I went out and just bought them a 42" out at Wal-Mart for $500. They didn't understand why, so I sat there and explained how they could stop smoking and have $3600 a year to buy whatever they wanted, lol. My dad actually did for a couple months, played this "game" I had and saved the money he spent on cigarettes....but he ended up having around $250 before he spent it on new seats and carpet for his El Camino he's restoring, and he went back to smoking. Impossible. -
Josh Selby says “I’m just curious, not gay”
Real Deal replied to Warren2ThaG's topic in General NBA Discussion
I'm not sure if that's the issue (sad if it is). I just noticed this on that guy's Twitter: If I recall correctly, that's the nasty slut that is obsessed with athletes and celebrities, and she's always putting them on blast and making up stories about how she has been with all of them. I'm not surprised at this. The issue, to me, is not that Selby is gay or not...but that he's sending pictures to other people, and while someone being gay isn't a big deal to me, it's a big deal if false information is put out there.
