  1. Let's quote your article... So he had one bullet in HIS gun, and then tried to get Leone's gun? Fantastic example there. Again, 10-15 rounds is ENOUGH. And no, you don't have to live in Compton to be robbed and assaulted, but over and over again, I continue to tell you that GUNS ARE NECESSARY, just not something that unloads 30-100+ rounds. Are you even reading any of this, or...?
  2. In an individual's life, those threats don't come often, generally, unless you're a drug dealer/user, or you're mixed up in some illegal activity. Like I said, there are more of us who have never had a gun pulled on us (MANY MORE) than those that have. Many. So, again, don't compare us to law enforcement. It's obvious you don't like examples, and you keep ignoring them. We all don't get special SWAT and military gear just because there's a threat we could get blown away. You act like I'm sitting here saying we shouldn't have guns. I'm not, for the 100th time. If someone enters your house, if an armed man steps into your home...then it's FINE to have a gun. You DON'T need anything more than a Glock to protect yourself. Huh? What would I do if I gained access to a nuclear bomb? Absolutely nothing...so that means everyone should have one? See, this tells me you support the purchase of fully automatic weapons, lol...and you wouldn't mind living in Libya. Are you really THAT big of a gun advocate? Dude, I'm talking to someone else about this on another board, and he has 52 guns and is a collector, and even he's not on that bus. I run marathons, not laps. Notice that you're the one asking the questions, not delivering the counters. Tell me why a Glock isn't more than enough to protect yourself from this extremely dangerous life we all supposedly live. I just went out and paid my car payment, by the way...and I did it without a gun. Pretty intimidating out there today.
  3. Dude, the first sentence is all you needed to say. It helps come to the conclusion that we are not similar to the police officers that SHOULD be able to carry certain guns. Many people have? Of course. Does that mean we should all own SWAT gear and military armor? Yeah, there aren't 11,000 deaths all by assault weapons...but you're focusing on the wrong thing. The primary issue is to make sure guns don't fall into the wrong hands. What's the difference between a Glock and an AR-15? 15+ rounds, typically? Just a guess...I think the idea is to keep high-capacity magazines out of the hands of people in general, and I'm reading that AR-15's can fire 100 rounds (semi-autos, I'm well aware of what the fully automatics can do). No, but how do you know I'm not just sitting here and lying to you about it? How do you know I'm not an emotional wreck, caused by a combination of being blind in one eye + diabetic problems + early stages of kidney problems + high blood pressure meds also used for depression?
  4. Well, part of what I'm saying is geared towards those who think we should legally own automatic weapons. Again, it stemmed from ECN asking me if police should be able to carry fully automatic weapons (just checked, for clarification) and then if we should be able to buy an AR-15. There's no reason for anyone to own a fully automatic weapon. As far as an AR-15 goes, I admitted I didn't know much about them OR guns. But, I always do my research. Okay, 30-100 rounds at the most for a semi-automatic AR-15. Why? I just don't get that. Why do you need to pump 30 rounds into an intruder? Two intruders, 15 each? I still don't understand. ------------ But let's say I don't even give a damn if someone owns an AR-15. I STILL support background checks on ALL gun purchases...fully support that, 100%.
  5. You weren't following where the initial conversation came from. It was about cops having automatics or assault weapons, and why we should (or shouldn't) have them. You don't need to unleash a thousand rounds into a home intruder. You can put him down with any loaded gun, as long as you know how to shoot it. The comparison between police officers, and us, is what ignited the conversation. There is no comparison. A police officer HAS to have a gun if he's going to do anything more than giving tickets to able-bodied people parked in handicapped stalls. I've never owned a gun, and in 29 years, I've never had a home intruder. I'd be amazed to hear that a 30-year veteran (or longer) police officer has never had to pull his gun once...even for protection in a hostile situation. I'm for guns...but not unnecessary ones. Not a gun you'd use to mow down Iraqi insurgents.
  6. Haha, that's what I told my brother. She apparently told him to stay and play football, but if all of that happened to my girl, she wouldn't be stopping me from going to see her.
  7. I'll wear my Cavaliers jersey I bought back in 2004. http://i46.tinypic.com/33y6cnc.jpg Got news for ya, though: it's not Kyrie's jersey.
  8. Gee had that look on his face when he was getting up: "Damn, I'm gonna be on SportsCenter."
  9. We're going to get a bunch of Portland fans here someday. -------- Portland, and Houston, are doing a great job letting the Lakers back into the playoff race. Thanks, guys.
  10. Well, Jeremy Lin is going to help ruin it for him. Starters will be Kobe (which is a given) and Lin in the backcourt. That means that CP3 will take up a reserve guard spot. One less for Crawford to fill. Harden will get the backup two spot, since he's the third-best SG in the NBA. SG - Kobe, Harden PG - Lin, CP3 From there, you have the following players competing for reserve guard positions (IF there's even a fifth to hand out): Westbrook Parker Curry Mayo Lillard Crawford I really have no idea how he's going to win that, even if Jeremy Lin was still in the Eastern Conference. If Jeremy Lin doesn't end up starting (fan voting), he'll likely miss the ASG...but out of the list above, I don't see how Crawford can get in.
  11. My deepest apologies, Sean. Keep your chin up.
  12. Amir was probably going to miss a FT, but STILL...that was clearly a shooting foul.
  13. Ah helllllll, did that really happen? Yikes. He Kwame'd that pass.
  14. Ah damn, missed the FT. Marco for the game-winning shot?!?!
  15. Lowry should have taken that shot, instead of pump-faking there. Huge board by Amir, though, and a very good decision to put it up ASAP.
  16. Wow, nice decision to bait Marco into the drive and into traffic, hahaha.
  17. Wait...didn't he acknowledge her existence a few times before?

  19. That wasn't the question. That's basically like you saying, "Yeah, I COULD fly an airplane today...and so could an employed pilot." You asked if cops should be able to carry certain weapons and opened the door for a comparison between a cop and a citizen. Truth is, you face the threat of being burned alive in your house every single day...so should you own a firetruck and equipment, just in case your family has trouble making it out?
