  1. Nothing will stop every incident from taking place...not even the total removal of guns from US citizens. It's not a means of complete prevention, but an effort to make it more difficult to pull off such acts in the first place. Fine...what's your proposal to stop all of the hammer-wielding killers out there, if you're so concerned with those? I already know what you're going to say.
  2. If the last ban on assault weapons did nothing at all, why are you so against it? If it does nothing, it shouldn't matter either way, correct? Yeah, a person turns to a hammer if they don't have a gun. I'd rather have an idiot come at me with a hammer. Would you not? You never answered my question from the other topic, by the way...so I'll ask it again: have you ever had to confront an armed man, with your life threatened, or have had to chase one down, like most police officers will have to throughout their careers? Also, yeah...I hope I don't have a gang of people come into my house to gun me down, either. It happens a lot, I hear. ------------------ Not too long ago, a man I went to school with (well, he was a bit younger than me) decided he was broke and needed to feed his kids...so instead of being smart and looking for a job (since he didn't work), he stole money from family, went to Wal-Mart, and bought a gun. He walked over to a sweeper repair shop early morning, a block from our high school, and tried to rob the place...and he was shot and killed by the old man (owner). I support having a gun. I'm glad the old man had one. I don't support being able to get them as easily as Terrence Clark did. If you have a clean slate, background-wise, you have nothing to worry about. Is it THAT much of an inconvenience? If you don't collect guns, I don't see why you'd have anything to worry about. The ONLY reason that is worth listening to...that would require you to have an assault weapon...is if there was a government takeover, but let's be truthful: you, and everyone else, won't have shit compared to the opposition, so it's really not going to matter. It's one thing to fight against your own country if you live in Libya. You really think people will have the goods to go against the US?
  3. So... 1) Re-ban on assault weapons (Clinton era) 2) Background checks on all gun purchases 3) More funds for mental illness 4) More funds for school safety I don't see the problem here. Where did he overstep the Constitution? Will you be able to buy a gun? I just find it amusing, that's all...that people think they need 5-10 full automatics, a bazooka and an Uzi to protect themselves from home intruders. I guess if you're Jesse Ventura and Ted Nugent, you'll need an array of weapons, tanks, fighter jets, and drones to overcome that inevitable government hostile takeover.
  4. Well, instead of having him defend everyone else on the court, D'Antoni is asking him to lock up the PG's. It does help when Gasol isn't out there, and we have Earl Clark (who is a defensive player) putting in work.
  5. Gordon was kind of like that back in Clipperland. The dude just doesn't know how to deal with a losing season. No team he has played for has won more than 35 games or so in a season, so I'm sure that, PLUS the fact he always finds a way to get hurt, makes things less enjoyable. Plus, he has that sad look on his face a lot, which probably doesn't help anything, haha. Even when he was playing all-star basketball (a couple of seasons back, he was putting up nearly 24-25 a night, on decent shooting), he acted that way every few quarters...but you can tell he was going to be super unhappy the day he was traded, lol. http://www.sportsgrid.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/newhornets.jpg
  6. Okay...now the Lakers are starting to play through Kobe and Howard, and they are getting better. Plus, Kobe is defending the PG's.
  7. D'Antoni is really going to try and keep Kobe's arms full with these responsibilities, lol. He's going to get injured before the playoffs.
  8. Kobe locking Jennings up...two points, zero assists so far. Those two points came from a screen miles away from the rim, and Jennings went flying to the rim.
  9. I answered your questions, so answer mine. Have you ever had a confrontation with an armed man or woman, or chased after one, like most police officers have? Simple question...yes or no. There isn't a single lie in that post I made, by the way. I don't live in Afghanistan.
  10. I'm an everyday citizen, and I've never had to confront a criminal with a gun (or a weapon of any kind) before, nor have I chased after anyone who could be armed. Have you?
  11. I don't know enough about that particular gun to answer that. If an AR-15 is the one I can go out and buy myself, then I'm likely going to tell you that, yes, cops should be able to have those. But does that mean I think I should be able to buy it in the first place AND that cops should carry them? Not necessarily.
  12. Again, I'm not anti-gun. Should cops have fully automatic weapons? Nope, not your average city police force. There's no reason to have one if you're a cop. If you can find me a reason, then I'll listen. SWAT team? Military? Those are different, considering what they stick their hands into each day.
  13. Stupid ass Heat, can't even beat the Jazz when I'm actually rooting for them to win (for LA's sake). Loss to Portland, loss to Utah.
  14. This cracked me up right when I saw it because... http://i49.tinypic.com/27yu24y.jpg
  15. Most understand that...so why can't we? It's a good question, right?
  16. Unlike others, the statistics are meaningless to me because a lot of arguments hinge on two things: 1) crime stats, BUT 2) countries that have services and facilities to care for the mentally ill So, if someone comes in here and says that [insert country here] has low crime rates AND little gun control...but then another argues that our lack of mental institutions and services are the reasons why shooting occur...what's the reason? Which is it? Does that other country (the low crime, low gun control) have better services and facilities available? I'm sure they do, just like how our country is "over-medicated" and out of sync because of how dominant pharmaceuticals are here. You're grouping me with those that see things in a different light. Pistols cause more murders because they are by FAR more common to acquire. My simple question is, why would you need to go our and order assault weapons and a thousand rounds of ammo? Are you going to unload a thousand rounds into a house intruder? Do you hunt insects with all of that ammo? What you just quoted, and what you're repeating (about what I said in regards to being armed in case of a hostile government) doesn't relate. My question is...can you buy an Uzi at Wal-Mart? If we're protecting ourselves from the government, AND if we can get an Uzi if we REALLY wanted it...why not just sell them to us? Can you answer that? Why can't we get an Uzi from Wal-Mart? That's a big question.
  17. Also, this saying that goes something like, "If you make certain guns illegal, it won't matter because they can be purchased on the black market anyway," well...does that mean we should legalize meth and cocaine? Should I be able to purchase an Uzi at Wal-Mart?
  18. Like I've stated before, I don't think they should strip all Americans of their guns...but I'd love to know why anyone thinks it's okay to be able to go out and buy 50+ guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition. You shouldn't be able to get that, and you shouldn't be able to purchase anything our military uses. If you're going to tell me it's for protection against the government...well, I'm sorry, but not even your 50 guns will stop our military from doing what they want, unless your gun purchases come with free fighter jets and tanks.

  21. You'd think Waiters doubled Kyrie's shot attempts, not looking at the statsheet. Does he know he's a bench player? I understand that Cleveland has trouble scoring the ball (and doing everything else, especially without Varejao), but damn...he has to know he's not THAT good.
  22. Aldridge with a 20-foot fadeaway jumper over Perkins...that clanks and misses. No point in taking that shot if you're a big man.
  23. Earl Clark does a little bit of everything for us...not having a great shooting night, by any means, but he plays his role well. He's like another Jordan Hill for us. I'd start him over Gasol...not even joking. Play Gasol as the backup center, so we can rest Howard a bit more.
  24. Someone please say something when I'm this pissed off. It's NOBODY'S business what is posted in this topic. If it doesn't belong, my staff will remove it. Keep your big ass mouths shut.
