It's not about the genre, it's what they do with their music (MJ was pop as well, same with Britney, we don't compare the three), but I digress. I'm not going to dive into the debate because, quite frankly, it'll all be based on taste. If I don't like Radiohead, there's no way in hell I'll acknowledge them, let alone say they are the modern-day Beatles. I really don't like any of the groups I listed to begin with. It's not what I listen to. I was just putting it out there.

He's going to get into trouble when he starts bashing the Nets and talking about how he's not going to re-sign with them. :o I'll have to follow him. I think I did on his old account.

Yeah, I think it's about defense. I really have no idea what Utah plans to do with Kirilenko, and he has basically anchored their defense the entire time he's been with the Jazz (despite him not being a big in the middle). Having guys like Okur and Ostertag (yes, I said Ostertag) up front for years, it's probably time for Utah to find a big that has a little toughness to him. It's not like they have a Karl Malone to take care of that, and if they are so high on Favors, there's no point in bringing another offensive weapon into play. What would they do with Millsap and Jefferson, at that point? I'm fine with the Kanter selection. However, if I knew that the Jazz were going to shop Devin Harris, it's Brandon Knight or Kemba Walker, and I wouldn't think twice.

I've heard this argument for U2, Coldplay, Green Day, Metallica, Iron Maiden, RHCP, and even the Jonas Brothers (lol). It's really hard to say because the music industry was a shooting star at the same time The Beatles walked into the spotlight, so people were searching for someone that could revolutionize the industry. As far as people actually convincing me, among the groups I listed, the best arguments were for Coldplay, for how unique they are. If music was booming today, after being in the "dark ages" for a while, I think it would make sense that Coldplay would come out of the gates as that group, but I'm not sure if anyone can really be compared to The Beatles.

New main style (may need to refresh browsers)
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in Archived Announcements
Alright, as I stated in the other topic, I had to remove the roster pages that I already completed, just so I could add the new header and footer. Here's what they will look like: http://www.otrbasketball.com/cavaliers/roster.php -
Kobe Bryant vs Bow Wow 1 on 1
Real Deal replied to magicbalala245's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
Why would anyone in their right mind bet Kobe $1,000 that they could bet him in a jump-shooting one-on-one game? Especially if you're someone like Bow Wow, or LeBron. -
Apparently, it got to McGrady... http://twitter.com/#!/TheReal_TMAC/status/91980377119404032 http://twitter.com/TheReal_TMAC/status/91980377119404032

New main style (may need to refresh browsers)
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in Archived Announcements
You should see a footer at the bottom of the page now. At first, it may not have a background, so hit F5 and refresh your browser. I didn't add the links yet, just content that I figured would turn into our links in due time. I'll finish up the roster pages, then work on the rest of the site (ex. About Me, Contact page), and we'll go from there. -
New main style (may need to refresh browsers)

Haha, man, I really liked the black skin. I just know that people would complain if they had to switch from the dark to light, and there are team forums (such as the Sixers) that I'd have to provide a light skin for. I mean, I already know you understand, but for the sake of providing the best explanation possible for those that don't, it's either the dark skin or the team forums. With the website into play, I have to go with team forums. -

Thanks guys. I'm also adding a legitimate footer that will be used throughout the site. What we have now is just pure laziness on my part. -

I wish I had all of the info ready to use. I've been slacking lately...should've had those roster pages done a long time ago. -

Oh yeah, some of you will need to hit refresh on your browser to see all of the changes. -
We're going back to black and gold, and I've changed the header a bit, mainly for looks and for the website portion of OTR. Once the site is completed, you'll probably find those drop down boxes very useful. I'll adjust the team forums soon. The roster pages are top priority right now. And yes, there will be more main banners...I just didn't have time to add the other 2-3.

Thanks. EDIT: Had to remove the roster pages for now...found a huge error that could probably lead to an exploit. I'll have them up again soon.

Celtics - http://www.otrbasketball.com/celtics/roster.php Bobcats - http://www.otrbasketball.com/bobcats/roster.php Bulls - http://www.otrbasketball.com/bulls/roster.php Bucks - http://www.otrbasketball.com/bucks/roster.php Blazers - http://www.otrbasketball.com/trailblazers/roster.php This is so time-consuming, lol...I hate this. All-Time teams are at the bottom. If you see any errors with the info, let me know. I've left out unrestricted and restricted free agents, by the way...so if you're looking for, say, Tyson Chandler, you won't find him in Dallas. So...25 more to go! Yikes.

2011 Pick #2: Minnesota Timberwolves
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in General NBA Discussion
I guess I shouldn't expect too much discussion with these first few picks. I'll go ahead and lock this up...I'm sure we'll debate about #3. -
Maybe at one point, but not over the course of their careers. I've stated many times before that Kidd is a top five PG in NBA history, at least in my books.
-
Haha, I'm lucky to have a community of posters that respect each other, and display their maturity more times than not.
-
Jason Kidd, without a doubt. I didn't really have to think about it too much. I'd take him to build a team around AND I believe he has had the better career. Better overall player, may have been robbed of an MVP award, and I'm not really sure Nash deserved two. Kidd has a championship, and played a huge role in getting it, and he has been to the Finals three times. No disrespect to Nash's game, though...but Kidd is far superior on the defensive end (it's not even close), and while Nash excels in his system, I think Kidd can play at a high level in ANY system.

It would be a bit different if you were asking for a sig to wear on the site. I've rarely seen people do wallpaper requests, on here or on many other sites I used to frequent.
-
It's amazing how much different the environment is when you're promoting over here, isn't it? Just wanted to lay that out on the table...you'll know what I'm talking about.

I gotta disagree about us doing fine. I realize we're a basketball message board, and that there's a lockout, but even then, we can't live off of just 100 posts a day. Less and less people are using message boards, and we're a veteran site with veteran posters. We'll take the hit from it before many others because a lot of our members are working full-time, or going to college full-time, paying bills, etc. I brought RealGM up the other day, and I went over there to look at their activity...and it's pretty low in some team forums, which is surprising because, just two years ago, it wasn't like that. RGM was basically 30 different team message board sites, and that's just talking about the NBA, plus an OTR (in regards to their General NBA section). I know everyone has suggestions, but the numbers haven't been looking good for a long time now. We have to find a way to bring in new blood before we try anything else. I'll think of something, but it's really not the right time to try anything big. I'm crossing my fingers that these players and owners man up and get shit done. Right now, we're in survival mode. The hack was obviously the worst thing that has ever happened to us, but this is right behind it.

What site do you use to watch wrestling online? There's no way on Earth I'm paying that 60.
-
Well, when SCSA was blasting Vince on the mic, you'd probably have to say the same thing about him. Given the fact that Punk gets the opportunity to shoot on all of the wrestlers, incorporate guys that have been fired, go after Vince, Stephanie, Shane AND Trips, and talk about how the company is dying and that it would be better off after Vince is dead...you really can't get any better than that, no matter who has the mic in their hands.
