Do you consider the Spurs a dynasty?
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in San Antonio Spurs Team Forum
I'll go ahead and edit my initial post about a dynasty being a three-peat (technically). I suppose there's no true definition, nothing written in ink. Seems like a lot of teams are considered dynasties for dominating in a span of 3-5 years (or more), with at least three championships to show for it. Not necessarily consecutive championships. I've read an argument about the early 90's Buffalo Bills being a dynasty, but I have no idea how that's possible if they didn't win anything. -
Golden State Fires Coach Keith Smart
Real Deal replied to Legacy's topic in Golden State Warriors Team Forum
Good decision, but it's going to take more to get back into playoff contention. Golden State has some work to do. They need to seek a defensive-minded coach, figure out what they are going to do about their frontcourt issues, and make it clear who's going to run the offense. -
Done. 14.83% of the votes, third place right now. Good luck, man.

Do you consider the Spurs a dynasty?
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in San Antonio Spurs Team Forum
Well, if I recall correctly, there was an OTL on ESPN that discussed the "three-year window" for dynasties. I know absolutely nothing about hockey, but they were saying how there were five teams on their dynasty list (is that even real?) that had a three-peat (or better), and that they should remove the others from the list. -
GM5: Philadelphia at Miami (MIA 3-1)
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in Miami Heat Team Forum
Time for the Heat to "finish their breakfast" I guess...lol. LeBron is a hell of a character. Who eats breakfast at night? I'm assuming LeBron thinks Philly is pretty important. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. -

American hero. -
I've been wondering this for a while now. ESPN has been talking about the "Spurs dynasty" all day long, and that's how they refer to them. According to OTL a while back, a dynasty is a three-peat. The Spurs won three rings in five years...with the same trio, but not consecutive championships. Many considered the Patriots a dynasty when they were winning their rings, although they also failed to achieve the three-peat. Do you consider the 2003-2007 Spurs team a dynasty? Why or why not?

LOL, Trump sucks. Candidates typically say things we all want to hear, but Trump sounds like the typical American that has absolutely no idea how to run a country, just one that thinks we can do what we want and get away with it. The fact is, Trump has gone bankrupt over and over again, he's a businessman that took advantage of the government, and outside of the BC conspiracy that was stomped on today, Trump has absolutely nothing. He's on the same level as Palin, not as stupid and clueless, but with little to no credibility and more deceiving and shady. I hope he runs for President, and I hope he gets demolished in the polls.

GM5: New Orleans at LA Lakers (TIED 2-2)
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
I doubt Shannon will be a Laker next season. Good win by the Lakers. Kobe looked great out there, Gasol and Drew were nice on the glass (and Drew is just a force inside), and Ron is still doing his thing. I'm still a bit annoyed by Gasol, though. I'm absolutely sick of his flopping and moaning, to the point where he doesn't even try to make the damn shot. THAT is most annoying. -
Firing the coach isn't going to solve the problem. They landed in the NBA Finals with Avery Johnson one season, then lost to the Warriors (the 8th seed) the following year, same coach. With Don Nelson, Dallas made it to the WCF...then found out, the following year, that they weren't even getting out of the first round with Nelson. The team really isn't built for deep postseason play. Aside from this season and maybe two others, they weren't much of a defensive team. Their scoring options weren't as consistent as they should be, either. It also doesn't help when Dirk (who is shooting less than 42% right now, in this Portland series) comes out and shoots 38% against the 2007 Warriors team that upset them in the first round. Dallas doesn't fire from all cylinders when it matters most. They can light it up and get a couple of games in a series, but when it's all said and done, it's the players that need to be held accountable.

Will there be any first round upsets?
Real Deal replied to Buckets!'s topic in General NBA Discussion
Probably 4-2 in Boston's favor, with the entire Knicks team healthy. The Celtics didn't go into the postseason injury-free, either: Shaq was a huge part of what they were trying to accomplish at one point, and granted Shaq is 60 years old, there's not a single player on the Knicks' roster that had a chance of defending him. Teams are difficult to figure out when injuries occur. Take the 2009 Houston Rockets and their series with the Lakers. Look at the current series the Lakers are in with the Hornets. See the current Grizzlies, without Gay. The new-look Cavaliers were a team nobody knew anything about coming into the season, and they pulled off an upset over the Celtics right out of the gates, and were around a .500 team for a while. Boston planned for a fully-loaded Knicks team, which takes guys like Jared Jeffries out of the equation. Doc Rivers would've never guessed Jeffries would have decent offensive games in 2-3 of those meetings, so Boston didn't plan on it. With Billups on the floor, they expected Melo to handle the ball a bit less, which helps Pierce save energy for his offensive production. When Game 2 arrived, Pierce didn't stand a chance on either end of the court. Melo came to play. Game 3? Different story, as Boston had 4-5 days to adjust to the Knicks not having Billups, plan on Melo trying to duplicate his Game 2 performance, and it paid off. At the end of the day, Boston wasn't the match-up the Knicks wanted. If it was between the Celtics and Heat, there's no question about it: D'Antoni would've wanted Miami. The Heat have weak play at the point and center positions, and Amare would've had his better games against Bosh. I wouldn't say they'd beat Miami, either, but they would've had a better chance in that series. Both Miami and Boston got what they wanted. -
I'll say this much: I know for a fact that Kobe thinks something is wrong, that it's a major injury. What athlete would bypass an x-ray AND an MRI? He's avoiding it just in case...
-
Well, the rule is, if he gets the MRI and they find a break, he won't have medical clearance to play. The NBA will force him to sit. Phil made the statement tonight that Bryant isn't letting anyone deal with it. He's calling the shots. I hate it because it's a scary feeling, as an athlete, to not know what's wrong...but it's Kobe, not me.
-
I'm flip-flopping. Kobe has played through a lot of injuries. I'm not sure what's going on with the foot/ankle, but he has earned the right to make that decision for himself, I guess. I don't know.

I'm sure you do, C-Buc, since you moderate their site, you dumb [expletive]. http://i51.tinypic.com/34oascg.jpg You were banned from OTR, go to HN and badmouth this site, then you re-register as a Lakers fan (the team you hate, and you can't stand Kobe) and fake your way back into our community. Are you that desperate to stay in? -------- Also, I'm saying it one last time, to everyone there: stop the spamming. Do not use OTR's PM system to contact other members and remind them to post elsewhere. Do not use the PM system for any other site, period. It continues to happen. To be a successful site, you have to tag your staff with the most mature and respected members. The staff can't be full of teenage boys (or immature college kids) that have a hard time growing up and respecting those around them. It's been said to many, many other sites over the last six years, but every single one of them are now, quite frankly, parked domains with no site content. The OTR community has been together for 6+ years, since 2005. It's a true family of posters. I feel it's a slap in the face to what we have accomplished as a site, and what these guys have accomplished as posters here, when someone comes over and continually spams our board, attempting to drag members away. Not going to happen. I have done everything I could to give you guys a hand. I've turned my head every now and then, gave second and third chances, gave out our rotating banner code to assist in creating the new skin, let anyone promote the site in their sigs OR in a topic like this (despite the numerous times others have spammed HN and other sites), etc. I don't want an apology, I don't want a PM, don't reply in this topic with an explanation, anything similar. If you aren't on OTR for the sole purpose to contribute, get the hell out. I'm going to contact the site's host (not the owner) if it continues. I know IPS is hosting it, and I have a great relationship with a lot of their support team over there...known most of them for six years. That move will be much more effective than having a select group of OTR members running over and trolling the board. It ends now. -

Just finished watching this game...wow. Westbrook is ignorant. Lawson had his way with him all night, and then, he's chucking shots and losing the game on the other end of the court as well. I feel bad for Durant. -
Chris Broussard wrote on his Twitter account that Kobe was out for the rest of the playoffs with a severe sprain, but now it's deleted.
