  1. So how exactly does a 12-year old girl compare to a fan of a particular player? Does the 12-year old girl know more basketball than you do? I'm sure you know exactly where I'm going with it, so hopefully you're going to realize how dumb that statement was.
  2. If you're going to mouth off about it, we can draw a line between my knowledge and the 12-year old girl's knowledge, and where you fall in that mix.
  3. By the way... Harley Race didn't do a damn thing for the WWF, except feud with JYD and win the KOTR once. Steamboat won the IC title once (it was against Savage at WM), and that's about it. Excellent match, but his best days were when he was feuding with Flair in the NWA. Gorgeous George was the AWA. None of those had more of an impact than Flair did in the WWF (and that's the WWF alone, not considering his entire career). The list is trash. ----- As far as Flair not being a WWF/WWE superstar goes, Flair won the Rumble, won the WWF world title twice. He feuded with Hogan and Savage, fought Taker at WM, fought Vince, was part of Evolution and ended up feuding with HHH, beat Foley in an "I Quit" match, and had a MOTY against HBK (the retirement match). How was he not a superstar in the WWF/WWE?
  4. They can't erase what he has done. The WCW is now the WWE. They even bought Flair's championship belt (it's basically his, as many times as he wore it). If they are going to disregard what he has done with that belt around his waist, they need to throw the belt in the trash and go on with their shitty weekly shows.
  5. It's only newsworthy because players like Rose and others have no idea what that means. They probably think Stern has literally buried NBA players.
  6. It won't matter. The Sixers won't be able to provide enough offense to keep up with the Heat (and they aren't an elite defensive team), and the Knicks have no way of defending anyone on Miami. Both could be sweeps, unless Melo goes off or Iggy locks up LeBron for a game.
  7. That's what they said when Magic retired, and according to an older fan from TLN, that's what they said when Jerry West was done. It's no surprise that non-Lakers fans said the same thing when the Lakers dealt Shaq. I guess we'll just wait for the next batch of rings. -------- As far as being a team-fan first, it doesn't matter. People can be die-hard Clippers fans, but still like Blake Griffin because he's an exciting player. I'm all about the Jayhawks in college basketball, but I was a huge fan of Kevin Durant despite him being on Texas (one of the teams I can't stand). It shouldn't matter why a guy likes a team, unless he's bouncing between multiple championship teams and not supporting them when they are down and out. Not everyone was born in an NBA city or had a team near their own city, or had their fathers tell them who to root for when they were five years old. I'm an NBA/Kobe/Lakers fan, in that order...but that doesn't mean I'll stop rooting for LA when Kobe retires, and it doesn't mean I jumped ship during the 2004-05 34-win season, or the two first-round exits right after that. I've written quite a bit, in season and game previews, even administrating a Lakers board, for one team. It makes me sick when people get wrapped up in it, and think they know me, or anyone else in that position, for that matter.
  8. I'm sure they do, because obviously, they can do a much better job...which is why they are sitting on their hands? There is not a single person, no matter the party, that will come in and change this country in four years. No one...not a country that was basically left for dead. No change from the Bush admin, and this country continues to die. Change? Well, it's not going to do any good with the current wars we are fighting OR the oppression from certain members of Congress. This country is too wrapped up in politics. Everyone involved will defend their party to the death during elections, even if they don't believe in something deep down. Then, when they get their way, they turn their backs on the people, flip the switch and don't do a damn thing right. The President was elected to run the country. It does no good when you have a bunch of hard-headed dumbasses trying to prevent it. Nobody is going to win a tug-of-war, and the longer everyone tugs, the longer nothing is done in regards to lowering our country's debt, or making any big decisions and changes our country may need. The system is trash, doesn't matter who the President is. This will continue to be obvious if a new President is stuck into office the next time the elections roll around.
  9. First, it was all about us dominating and being a superpower, doing what needs to be done to regulate the world, etc. Now, certain people are asking why we are doing anything, as if we are supposed to just crawl up into a ball and let the other half of the world crumble and burn. The only way certain people will ever approve of anything Obama does is if he becomes Republican.
  10. That was a blocking foul. Gortat was still moving his feet as Blake took off, and the back of his heel was also on the line when his foot finally came down. The video clearly shows it. Oh well. Gortat is too much of a sissy to get up and try to block that bad boy, anyway.
  11. Yeah. I'm just happy I had a chance to talk a little trash that last round. It really meant nothing, though, because I was screwing up on my brackets as well...but still, haha. I have no idea. I take back parts of what I said, though...I was actually kind of mad at my own brackets when I posted that first part earlier. She does know a little more college basketball than I stated. She knows the big-name players, knows a few coaches, and knows what certain teams can do and what they are good at. I'm leaning towards the Florida State pick being a lucky guess, though...or she just picked them because she doesn't like Ben Hansbrough.
  12. Well, it's not the chances, because it's easier to make the playoffs in the East. I do remember a topic asking about how the East is actually catching up...but, once the Spurs and Mavericks started looking like contenders, and the Thunder were rolling, it's really not that way again.
  13. Remember this? Well, this next round hit her in the face a little. http://i52.tinypic.com/bg2pgm.jpg Still pissed at the first round she had, though. Way too lucky.

  15. Good for them. We can run through what coaches have said about Shaq and Rodman, also (Winter's comment about Shaq, for instance), or what Phil said about Kobe, or what Shaq said about Bryant, what Jordan said about Kerr (and him slapping Kerr), and all of that mess...but I'd rather not bother.
  16. Don't ask me. I think Kobe should've had more than one MVP, and Shaq as well, being the best players in the league for a decade...but it didn't happen that way. No reason to change it now, though. That's what you're wanting to do. The only thing, other than that, that bothers me about your post...is that you're using stats to find the best player in the NBA. LeBron is probably there this year, because Kobe is hobbled now...but two years ago, Bryant was the better overall player, the better defender and BY FAR more skilled offensively, yet he didn't take home the 2009 MVP award because the Cavaliers were a 66-win team without someone like Gasol backing up LeBron. The award isn't the best overall player, it's the most valuable to his team's success. The weight of the award rests in that team's record AND the fact that the player must be of superstar level, putting up superstar numbers. It should never change. There wasn't a single person better than Mike from 1986-1998 (exceptions are the years he retired, and played just 17 games in the return), but I didn't see him win 10 season MVP awards, either.
  17. Going to say it for the last time: when there are 3-4 legit MVP candidates (Rose, James, Dwight, Wade), all four are playing like superstars, you look at their teams. When one is teamed with ANOTHER, it's an automatic out unless that team wins 70+ games and sets records. There is absolutely no reason to change the criteria all of a sudden. It has always been the players on 50+ win teams, playing like superstars, that do more with less. Simple as that. There are only 2-3 people on this entire site that will argue against that, and it's only funny that they will do it either because they are LeBron jockers (even those that used to hate him) or because they like to troll. Rose, Dwight...and everyone else comes next. That's the way it will happen, too. Hang your heads, yell conspiracy, do whatever makes you sleep better at night.
  18. Right, because Eddie Jones and Elden Campbell were traded to Charlotte right after those nine consecutive wins. We were having to start Glen Rice, who was shooting pathetic from the floor AND playing terrible defense, Travis Knight (who was starting most of the season) and eventually had to insert JR Reid into the five. Eddie wasn't playing that well on offense, but his defense was key. Without that, and without a legit big backing up Shaq, we started playing .500 ball...had nothing to do with Rambis, who is a defensive-minded coach.
  19. OMG nobody commented in the Lakers/Wolves thread yesterday, awfully quiet in that bitch! Just 17 posts (one page) in the LA/Orlando game, the one that was on ESPN on Monday, for everyone to see. Just 11 posts (lol) in the LA/Dallas game on Saturday, two contenders, Lakers win. We can whine and cry about the same thing...but, well, we just don't. The Heat are like those old 55-60 win Kings squads until they do something in the playoffs. Definitely not a big deal when they win regular season games.
  20. Phil Jackson won 42 games with Kobe, Odom and super scrubs, trying to work the triangle into play. I never expected Rambis to win 30 with Love and Beasley. Rambis coached the 1998-99 Lakers for 37 games, 24-13 record. This was before the triangle, and with Kobe finally playing in the starting five (first season doing it). Kurt isn't a bad coach, at all. Minnesota is just a bad team.
  21. LOL. This topic is funny. By the way, just the other night, ESPN (who has been jocking LeBron for a few years now) just stated that Rose is the clear-cut MVP, and they should go ahead and give him the award (during the Bulls' highlights). I laughed...just awesome. It's not rocket science. LeBron has Wade and Bosh. He has sufficient help. Wade is an MVP candidate. LeBron is an MVP candidate. They will split votes, like others have in the past in that same situation. Rose doesn't have another candidate on his team, doesn't have another all-star on his team, and he's leading the best team in the East. End of discussion.
  22. Rambis is also coaching a below-average team, and trying to implement the triangle offense into their game.
  23. No, he actually stated he was done after this season, regardless of the outcome. He expects to go out on a high note. And I wouldn't mind Van Gundy, but the problem is, the Lakers will want to keep the triangle, as long as Bryant is in the offense. Will JVG accept that? I don't know.
  24. Fouls go uncalled here and there, just as illegal defense did. You couldn't get away with the zone most of the time, though, in Jordan's era. You can give me those examples, and if I had every Jordan game he ever played, I'd crush your argument by providing you all of that footage. Like I said before, you need to start listening to the people that actually watched MJ every game. You know what I should do? I should go through Kobe's season (this one) and give you 100 of his shots, all makes, and say he is shooting 100% this season. That's exactly what you're doing. Get over it.
  25. Every single Lakers fan on this board has been a Lakers fan since at least 2005 (I know them from here or from another place), and when OTR went up in 2005, the Lakers ended up being a 34-win team and missing the playoffs. Two seasons later, we had a 42 and a 45-win season, out in the first round. Still had those fans, though. People don't understand how big the fanbase is. We have the most bandwagoners, I'm sure, and we also have the most dedicated fans. Hmm...that was just one season after our 34-win season, and also pre-Gasol and post-Shaq. Looks like a bunch of bandwagoners, and a bunch of fans texting...goodness.
