Other problem with the three-ball dunk was that he held the rim. Since they were showing replays, that would've killed him. EDIT: In fact, that would've been a DQ.
-
No, he didn't. And, being taller helps because of his wingspan and extension. That's obvious. He doesn't weight 280 pounds. Someone wasn't paying attention. ...Joel Anthony can't even hold on to the ball.
-
By the way, word was that Ibaka's free throw dunk was the one McGee wanted to do. He has attempted it twice during the season, and I read the other day that he was planning on using it in the contest, and doing it in practice.
-
The three-ball dunk wouldn't have been the one to go out on, either. He should've kept the Jordan dunk (third one) and added the double dunk to end the contest. Those two in the final round would've been pretty sick. He decided he wasn't even going to attempt the Vince reverse 360 windmill again. That was another mistake.

Uh, first of all, Jordan jumped from the line the first time he performed it. Everyone was wrong. I believe it was 1985 (Dominique won). He put down a piece of tape before he jumped, and his toe was behind it. Let's go ahead and make that clear. Dunks are judged on originality. He has done a dunk that Erving, Jordan, Brent Barry and even Pippen (and others, in other dunk contests) have done in a dunk contest before, and Jordan did it three times (two for the win). James White dunked from the free throw line...while putting the ball under his leg. Blake's first dunk wasn't an ordinary 360. Watch the replay. He took off, one-footed, and did a Statue of Liberty dunk...but with two hands. It was a full, complete 360 off of one foot, which is very tough to do. Most 360 dunks don't start with the player facing the basket, jumping off one foot, and THEN spinning in-air. And not very many are willing to jump over a car, because if your foot catches part of the hood, you're done. You break your arm or shoulder. Considering the fact that the pass was even low, it was a great dunk. He could've jumped over the roof, if he really wanted to. http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/180684_10150093679410924_194822060923_6458049_3749401_n.jpg DeRozan had one good dunk. Nothing special about the first one. Ibaka's second dunk was unique. I would've given him a 47 from the free throw line, and a 47 for the stuffed animal, leaving him tied with DeRozan at the end of the first round. McGee's three-basketball dunk wasn't that impressive. Wall basically shot the ball in. The first one was AMAZING (double dunk), given the fact that he bounced the ball off the first backboard before dunking either of them. That catch and finish from his right hand was insane. ------------ Overall, McGee would've had a much better chance if he kept the double-dunk for the final round...but it's a mistake a lot of players have made over the years, and they pay for it. McGee's double-dunk may have been the best in the contest, but he screwed up with that final dunk...nothing impressive about it, and it ended the contest. The Jordan dunk was crazy, but you can't go out with what he did.

Deron Williams wants to join the Knicks
Real Deal replied to The Regime's topic in New York Knicks Team Forum
After he forces Jerry Sloan out (don't care what anyone thinks, he did), he comes out of nowhere and states he wants to play for New York, even though he has a season and a half left on his contract? What the hell is wrong with him? This might be worse than LeBron and Melo. -
Texas: Dirk Nowitzki, Becky Hammon and Kenny Smith LA: Pau Gasol, Tina Thompson and Rick Fox Atlanta: Al Horford, Coco Miller and Steve Smith Chicago: Taj Gibson, Cathrine Kraayveld and Steve Kerr

Good trade. Just get it done. 1) Melo wants the extension. The Knicks aren't going to be able to wait and pick him up during the FA period. He wants to sign now, because if he doesn't, he risks losing a LOT of money after the CBA expires (which is before the FA period). 2) Losing Felton hurts the most, actually, because Billups isn't going to be a part of the Knicks' future. However, keeping Amare and Landry, and adding Melo? That's something to build around. 3) You have to start somewhere. The current Knicks team is wearing out, which is why they have been picking up all of these losses after their nice win streak they put together. They need another scorer...can't play through Amare every play of every game.

Dunkfest. It was a fun game. I would rather see all of the dunking in this one, and not the ASG (I want competitiveness in it).

1 thing Kobe wants to get rid of in the NBA
Real Deal replied to The Regime's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
There are examples of the zone defense not being called as illegal back in the 80s and early 90s, but the key was forcing that double, and having to leave a man open. Refs did call it all the time. The way Kobe throws his passes, he would find someone like Fisher open every play down the court, which means teams would have to give up that three (which is a big problem) or play Bryant with an individual defender (which is a big problem). It's obvious why this would be fantastic for him. The physical defense doesn't bother Bryant. He plays it himself, when someone tries to take him into the post. It's the zone (or some modified version of it, like Houston was trying to run with Artest and Battier) that makes basketball twice as difficult for him. -
How many superstars are there in the league?
Real Deal replied to The Regime's topic in General NBA Discussion
...I'm not sure who all is trolling, or being serious. Kobe, LeBron, Wade - perennial superstar, can give you big numbers every night and still drop big games, has the killer instinct and is a leader Melo and Durant - same as the guys above, but less defense and playmaking...could be better scorers than those above, though Rose and CP3 - can score and are efficient, CP3 is an excellent defender and Rose has improved, CP3 is an exceptional playmaker and Rose is getting there Howard - Orlando becomes a bottom three team in total defense without him, and he's still a 20-25 PPG scorer with high efficiency, and commands doubles -

Guys, that's not Taker's chest. He's not that thick. Maybe 20 years ago, but not now. http://www.examiner.com/images/blog/wysiwyg/image/Undertaker.jpg http://i53.tinypic.com/2rrs2ko.jpg It's Michaels or Trips. If it's HBK, he could be a special referee...or, who knows, he could be wrestling Taker. There's a reason they only showed half of the face.

This isn't the first time we've heard this, by the way. Terez Owens is just running with it. I believe the article came from ESPN or Woj (Yahoo). It makes a lot of sense. However...what if Dwight went to the Clippers? Him, Griffin, and Gordon would be nasty.

One could argue that McMillan isn't coaching a dysfunctional team, like Collins. The Sixers were terrible. It doesn't help McMillan's case that Aldridge is going nuts. The dude is putting up 30s and 40s now, which is something I could've never predicted. It's not that Nate started running the offense through him (the primary option was Roy), he just didn't have any other choice.
-
I'm assuming Bill Walton will be one of the coaches...right? I mean, there's no way he's playing.
-
Wow, way to read my post all the way through. :( And because of what happened, I'll advise him to never post here again. :o

How the hell do you win a game when your starting five does this? PG - Wall: 10-17 PF - Blatche: 6-17 SG - Martin: 2-13 SF - Howard: 1-10 C - McGee: 1-6

Popovich, Thibodeau, and McMillan. I would take Thibodeau over all three, though, because the Bulls are 2nd in the league, defensively, and that's basically without Noah for half of the season so far. They are also the third best team in the East, despite missing Boozer for 18 of the 53 games (without Noah for 29 games). Tom is a defensive-minded coach, and we saw what he did with Boston for the last three years...it's obvious he's nothing less than a plus sign in Chicago. If the Sixers are .500 or above by the end of the season, I would PROBABLY move Collins into my top three, replacing McMillan. Coin toss...depends on how many games over the Sixers are.
