I know I'm not a coach, and I realize there was wind, but there's no way you go for it on 4th down there. You go for the tie. You're playing a rival, playing for your playoff berth, you're an 8-3 team tied with the opponent...and you go for it on 4th and 2? And not only that, but you get a FLOP of a throw from Flacco?

Why don't NBA players work on consistent half-court shots?
Real Deal replied to a topic in General NBA Discussion
Chill. You could assume that, with enough practice, players would adjust and be able to shoot them like threes, but that's not true. Ten-footers, with defense, you could hit 60% from as a pro (and, of course, this is just an approximation). Double that, just extend it out to the three, and you're talking half of that (30% or so) for the average player. The half-court line is 47 feet out, so you're talking nearly double that (three-pointers are almost 24 feet out). Cut that percentage in half again (to 15%) and that's if the player decided he was going to work on those shots full-time. I doubt any coach would want players taking shots that they could only hit 15% of the time. Might as well ask Shaq to take threes. -
MANNNN...I didn't think about that.

Do you think Blake Griffin will...
Real Deal replied to Warren2ThaG's topic in Los Angeles Clippers Team Forum
He needs to work on his free throws before anything else. -
I got you. Your name was Nash when you signed up. The profile had your real name in it, also.

Where to watch old WWF episodes?
Real Deal replied to Dash's topic in MMA, Wrestling and Boxing Forum
There used to be a site for it, but I think it was removed a while back. I don't even remember the name of it, though...but on the home page, it had image blocks to select from (WWF, WCW, ECW, etc.) and then you were sent to a page full of videos, a poor man's YouTube design. -
Alright...so I need to get info for... Jenneral Flyers Prodigy Bigdog STATCity AtTheDriveIn Klashnekoff Anyone else?

I just start cracking up every single time they show TO's face. He knew this was a loss before the game even started, no matter how close it could ever get. Palmer is officially an idiot, by the way. Not that he wasn't last week, but yeah...

You're not going to come on OTR to post 3-4 year old highlights, in multiple threads, promoting your blog and download links. I'm sorry, but that's not what the forums are for.

Cycle through these and let me know which of them are still on OTR (many are obvious, but some of these names I don't recognize). Maybe to you. He was the nicest guy on JBB to everyone else. -_-

I took up for Dee, Jesse and Erin in an AIM chat, because a couple of mods and two admins were in there putting them on blast with racist and sexist remarks (mainly the mods, but the two admins were laughing about it). I PM'ed 2-3 people about my site (one was Alex Kennedy, another was Matt, the third may have been Harry), and suddenly, everyone found out about it through AIM, that I was putting up OTR. Hunter told me I PM'ed 30-50 members, didn't give me the screenshots until I was banned, and those messages were coming from my account BUT were not mine. Either way, most of JBB's core came from BBB, if I recall correctly (they used to all post there, split with the site and made JBB), so what goes around comes around? Ian (Shapecity) is still my dude, though. And I liked Mel and Dre. I just didn't like what was going on behind the scenes, with staff members creating fake accounts and purposely fighting with those who they felt needed banned, all kinds of things I learned of when I was a mod. OTR can be the best, or the worst, message board of all-time...but I was never going to run a board with corrupt staff members. I would never put up with a staff member registering fake names to get others banned, or throwing out racist remarks to anyone in this community. That was the biggest reason why I put up OTR.

Haha, May 14th, 2008. You had 169 posts as of August 2008. LOL, good memory.

19th.

I basically found around 100 of you a bit ago, by accident, lol.
-
Alright, I found a lot of info (aside from what I've already ran into). I'll get you guys updated soon.

I find it funny that Phil rarely runs plays for anyone else to get those shots, unless their names are Kobe and Fisher (and most of the broken Kobe plays go to Fish). Talk about long-term all you want. You vs. Phil Jackson + one of the most successful organizations in sports. I'm not sure what else to say.

I've got all of you down, but only registered the dates for the ones that are 100% accurate. I'll search a bit, and if I don't have any luck, we'll start guessing.

Even if Caron was with the team for another three years, I'd stick Kidd in there with Dirk. I would probably consider Jet, also...but it'll be Dirk and Kidd.

Seven of the top nine teams in the NBA are out of the Western Conference. The seventh seed in the West has a better record than Miami and Atlanta, the third best teams in the East. In addition to that, San Antonio and Dallas currently have the two best records in the NBA, both out of the West. The three worst teams in the NBA (Clippers, Kings, Wolves) are in the West as well. Just an observation. I remember we were all discussing this after July.

Other than Fish, you haven't given me any reason to think our wide-open teammates can hit those shots. Give me proof, or it means nothing to me, dude. For every shot you can possibly give me, I can give you all of the wide-open misses, and you would probably be astounded. And, by the way, not all of his doubled shots have been 25-footers. He hit one on Phoenix in the playoffs...it wasn't a half-court shot. Bryant has attempted some dumb shots, we all know that...but you don't have to continue calling them all 25-footers, either.
-
Actually, I gave you examples of players who have sucked in the clutch since the dynasty, from Cook and George to Smush and Walton (all pre-Gasol). Odom a few times, Vujacic a couple, Gasol two (aside from the o-board and put-back)...I'm not sure what else you're wanting to talk about. At the end of the night, I will live with Kobe taking the 25-footer (like he did on Wade, Ruben Patterson, and two Toronto players, among others) versus letting Odom shoot a wide-open 20-footer. A first-quarter bucket is not the same as a game-winner. The situation is much, much different. The pressure is ten-fold. I know you said you've played basketball before, so you should know that. Two free throws in the first quarter are cake. Two free throws when you're down two, one second left? Not even close to being the same.

http://www.archive.org/web/web.php Go here, put in "otrbasketball.com" and "otrforums.com" and see if you can browse around in any of those forums, from any date, to find your name. I didn't think of this. Again, props to this Young Guru dude...

Not all players can hit clutch shots. If Shaq was wide-open from 16 feet out, do you kick it to him? Gasol shot a three to try and win the game...was that smart? We've lost two games this year trusting Artest with a last-second shot that he has screwed up, one he barely got off because he has to dribble first, the other he bricked. He was a major piece to our championship run last year. Do we trust in him again and again until he makes the shot? No. I've seen enough of this team to know who should be shooting the ball in the clutch, open or not. Vujacic can make two clutch free throws, but he's never going to get a wide-open three for a win because he has missed two already. Bryant has trusted almost every half-ass shooter on the roster, and none of them have come through. There's no point in trying to develop their clutch because we have enough of that in Kobe and Fisher. They should spend more time developing their overall game, so we don't have to continue crossing our fingers for game-winners in the first place.
