Toronto Raptors 2010 Draft Discussion
Real Deal replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in Toronto Raptors Team Forum
Ed Davis makes all the sense in the world, though. If you were looking for a Bosh replacement (less offense, more defense), you get it here...but, of course, I can't comment on Davis' NBA-level defense (if it is proven to exist) until, well, it's proven to exist, haha. I'm sure his defensive abilities will translate well. You know he's out to work. Absolutely love the Alabi pick/trade. Maybe the Raptors are in for some good luck, and Alabi will turn into a Dikembe Mutombo, instead of Hasheem Thabeet (although the jury is still out on him). I know you're disappointed because you didn't snag Bradley, but the truth is, I think he's going to be that undersized two-guard that never passes the ball, falls into "Allen Iverson mode" too many times in his career, and ends up finding his way out of the league somehow. I'm honestly surprised the Celtics selected him, but you almost get the feeling they were excited about Nate Robinson so much, they decided to go find someone else similar to him (meaning, always trying to get two points, never trying to play the point). He may be less of a point guard than Nate is, really. That's being optimistic (favoring Toronto), and I'm sure you know that. Pessimistic fans will talk about how great of a defensive player he is, and how Allen Iverson tore it up in Philly for so many years... -_- -
Orlando close to landing Chris Paul
Real Deal replied to magicbalala245's topic in General NBA Discussion
Devastating trade for East contenders. Paul would run Howard way too close to the rim, and no player in the league can do anything about Howard finishing a foot from the basket. Definitely not Kobe and Shaq, but that duo would be tough to beat, especially when you add shooters along the perimeter (Shard, Reddick). I'm not sure what this does for New Orleans, though. Could be good, because Collison seems to be prepped for that starting role already, and Nelson can play the two (or vice-versa), but you do run into complications back on defense, because Collison and Nelson will both have trouble defending tall or thick two-guards. You're loading that team with fluent offense, though. Collison, Nelson, Carter, West, even Okafor...they can all score the ball. -
I'm fine with our two picks. I think we stole Ebanks, and I wonder how many people remember the hype around Caracter before his attitude got in the way? I'm disappointed that we didn't land Willie Warren or Sherron Collins, but I think we'll try and find our PG through free agency...and that includes Collins, since he went undrafted. Can't blame teams for not drafting him, though. He's just an inch taller than Nate Robinson (listed), but 50 pounds more.

Thunder Trade Eric Bledsoe
Real Deal replied to moeroadkill's topic in Oklahoma City Thunder Team Forum
Heavily-protected...meaning, it won't be worth much for a few years. -
I actually didn't use ESPN, DE or NBADraft.net for mine. I've done that the last 2-3 years, and it completely ruined me. If anyone noticed, I actually stayed up all night, didn't go to sleep at all, haha. I got two hours of sleep around noon today, got back up and ate lunch, and went back to reading player profiles and checking in on trades. Those trades KILLED ME in the end, though. And so did the Gordon Hayward pick...just started coasting downhill from there. The first eight picks were a breeze, though. Congrats, Sean. I'll send you something in the mail sometime...just hook me up with your address (in a PM).

Awesome pick for us. Now I'm hoping Collins or Alabi falls to #58. :o

Granger + 10 for Harris + 3?
Real Deal replied to Check my Stats's topic in Brooklyn Nets Team Forum
That's exactly my problem with it. That #3 is anyone but Wall and Turner. Hell, the only guarantee is Wall at #1. I wonder how the Nets would feel if the Sixers ended up dealing Brand and drafting Favors with the second pick, then watching the Pacers take Turner at three. -

Whoa...that's a bad move by New Jersey. -
I don't see why the Wizards would stick Hinrich in as the backup point guard. He's easily a top three defensive guard in the NBA right now, and he deserves to start at the two. I hope they buy him out, and he signs with us. Or...they pay us back (Caron for Kwame) by trading him to the Lakers.

OTR 2010 Mock Draft Challenge Sign-Ups
Real Deal replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in NBA Draft History
Just a reminder for you guys. Sean, I'll have mine in soon. If you want to be eligible for a prize as well, you can actually just PM me your mock. The rest of the participants won't be asking if you changed your picks to win the contest, if you decide to do that. EDIT: Just talking to Sean, by the way. Everyone else PM their mocks to him (BFT). -
Thunder want Heyward at #10 if they acquire it
Real Deal replied to a topic in Oklahoma City Thunder Team Forum
Same here. There's word that the Thunder are very high on Aldrich and would like to have a true defensive center. -
There's more to it than just what's written on paper. Either the Wizards will buy out Hinrich, or they are buying out Arenas.

Do I have the most posts ever in my first 7 days?
Real Deal replied to a topic in Off-Topic Discussion Forum
Probably since the board was rebuilt, but I wouldn't say yes if we're talking since 2005. We had a few guys rack up over 100 posts per day for a week or so, within that first month I put OTR up. And by the numbers, my brother and I have posted 1,000+ posts in one day before (manually, when creating game topics) and Aaron (alcstarheel) hit as many creating the game topics using just the database. -
What if mine is Taco Bell?

Hornets No Longer Opposed To Trading Paul

Raja Bell and Lakers have "Mutual Interest"
Real Deal replied to a topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
I guess I'm the only one that didn't see his fantastic defense in New Jersey or Miami. If we're talking the 2006-2007 Rafer, that's different...but a few considered Allen Iverson a very good defensive player, also, until he gambled every play and couldn't hold position when a guard posted him up. -

Expiring is great, but I think the point of trading Odom now would be to drop his contract immediately, so we increase that profit for this upcoming season. But assuming we would take that $17 million expiring, Vince would know we wouldn't pick up the team option at the end of the year (the $18 million one). Just a reason for him to play lackluster basketball 50% of the time. He's better than Farmar and Brown, but we won't have either of them to begin with; both are leaving us. We need a stable bench. Our "one player and a handful of scrubs" idea has been a bust forever, and if we're dealing Odom, we're going to have to find a decent backup power forward that can play for us, just in case Bynum snaps his brittle knee again. Odom has to go for another PF or C, through the draft or a trade for a proven player. Losing Mbenga (who actually isn't THAT bad, defensively) makes matters even worse. -

Blah...not a fan of this. Just beef up the frontcourt. I think OKC is too high on Daniel Orton. They need to focus on Ed Davis, or Cole Aldrich, if they are going to snag a top 15 pick. -

Real Deal replied to a topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
Why would Vince be happy coming off the bench for us? Plus, he shot 42.8% this season and attempted over 13 shots per game (more than Gasol), played no defense, got to the line four times a night (second-lowest of his career), didn't even hit four boards a game (career low), and looked like Ron Artest on offense every other game I watched. If it was cold in my house, it would heat up quicker if I lit my carpet on fire...but I'd rather not have to witness the devastation later. We can try and find someone more consistent, one that doesn't cost $16-17 million a season, and one that would more than likely accept the bench role and do more than just shoot jumpers. -

Real Deal replied to a topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
We could get better. He's a legit starter, and he's actually one of the best rebounders in the NBA. Very few 6-10 players can do what Odom does with the ball...a mini-Garnett, if you will. -

I wouldn't give up Walton and Mbenga for Carter, let alone Odom. Not for our team. Super Choke did exactly what I thought he would do in the playoffs this year...so keep him away from LA. -

I would absolutely HATE having Vince Carter on this team. Hell no. Plus, Vince is making $17 million this upcoming season, so we'd have to add another $6-7 million in contracts...and it defeats the purpose of us increasing the profit for the 2010-11 season, anyway. It would be nice to dump Lamar for a high draft pick. -
OKC Shopping Maynor
Real Deal replied to Cleveland's Finest's topic in Oklahoma City Thunder Team Forum
Haha, he shut down Kobe until Bryant got his knee drained...and then Kobe ran off a monster game against him. Thabo is a good defender, but he's not Gary Payton-esque.
