Josh Howard Out For Season With Torn ACL
Real Deal replied to MainEv3nt's topic in Washington Wizards Team Forum
Wizards fans shouldn't care. The less wins, the more ping pong balls. -
Lesnar is Dana White's heel, if that even exists in the UFC. It seemed he was looking for one for a long time, and many probably figured it would be Tito Ortiz, but that sort of blew up in his face a bit, and eventually, people liked Tito more than they did Dana. Brock plays it well, also...and we figured he would. That's one reason why I like him, though...but mainly, I like him as a fighter because he went out with a goal, achieved it, and is still looking to improve, no matter the road. It's really the reason why I could become a Kimbo fan, if he keeps fighting and improving...but at the beginning, I have to say I was laughing pretty hard when that young gun knocked him out on CBS (or ABC, or whatever channel planned to air that Kimbo/Shamrock fight). But yeah, I can see why people hate Brock. That's how it's supposed to be.

Those are the only two I can think of. And yeah, back then, teams would just double Bryant with their two best defenders, a big and a guard, and force him to pass it to someone else. I remember Odom's airball. I remember Luke Walton passing it back with no time on the clock (dumbest thing I've ever seen him do). I remember Kwame's brick. I remember Smush turning the ball over in one of our last possessions, instead of passing it to ANYONE else. I also remember Chucky Atkins chucky'ing up garbage to end a game. Bryant gave them chances. At the end of the day, it was the other teams giving them chances, and just doing whatever it took to stop Bryant. Remember Game 4 versus the Suns in the first round? Bell and Diaw, all over Bryant. Was Kobe going to pass the ball to the other losers? Helllll no...and I'm glad.

The way I look at it, looking at attempted game-winners and comparing them to makes (ratio or percentages, doesn't really matter) is like saying Dwight Howard is the better shooter because he "shoots" at a higher percentage than Bryant. We aren't factoring in anything else. I'm willing to bet that a fresh clutch shooter (such as Fisher) that doesn't have to play 44-45 minutes and doesn't have to score 30 points a night or defend the best player, would have the ability to hit wide-open game-winners all night long...over someone like Bryant, who has two players on him, has to score 30, defends LeBron and plays 40+ minutes. By ratio, by percentage, whatever you choose...Fisher looks better than Bryant...but again, we know that's ass backwards, and it would be most evident if their roles were reversed.

Kobe's list of game-winning shots
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
Well, they did include Jordan's frees in that official list. And, on ISH, there is someone who claims that they all gathered the official number of GW's by Kobe...and he left out these: 1) 05/09/99 - Lakers 101, Rockets 100 (playoffs, game-winning FTs with 5.3 seconds remaining) 9) 03/24/02 - Lakers 97, Kings 96 (fade-away jumper, 36 seconds remaining) 13) 04/06/03 - Lakers 115, Suns 113 (GW jumper with 28.6 seconds remaining) 14) 12/19/03 - Lakers 101, Nuggets 99 (game after the trial, fade-away) 15) 02/17/04 - Lakers 89, Blazers 86 (layup and the foul) 16) 03/21/04 - Lakers 104, Bucks 103 (OT jumper with 25 seconds remaining) He says he left out anything past 24 seconds left on the clock...but I guess he forgot that 5 is less than 24 (see first one). That Lakers/Nuggets game-winner was a buzzer-beater. Check it out right here... After Melo's frees. I don't remember that particular Lakers/Blazers game, but I'm sure it counts as well. -
Here's what came out of that February 2008 trade... Marc Gasol Zach Randolph Ronnie Brewer Sam Young Darrell Arthur DeMarre Carroll Steven Hunter 1st Round Pick For Pau Gasol and a 2010 second-rounder. The original trade was Pau Gasol and a 2nd for Marc Gasol, Javaris Crittenton, Kwame Brown, Aaron McKie and two first-round picks (in 2008 and 2010). Memphis knew what they were doing. So did the Lakers.

Is it just me, or are these getting repetitive and boring? Haha, not really...but close.

Antawn Jamison. His parents just didn't know how to spell it (or pronounce the way they spelled it, whatever...sort of like Dwyane, lol). But yeah, I don't know man...I might have to go with Jamison as #1. Tough, though. I think Jamison gets it because he was dangerous in AND out of the post...just covered too much floor.
-
Not exactly. There are probably PLENTY of guys who hit at a better percentage, game-winners only, than Kobe. Teams double him, and he's attempted game-winners with three defenders on him, just so he didn't have to pass it to Kwame or Smush. Fisher has hit at a better percentage, I'm sure...but that's because when he does hit them, it's mainly with someone rushing to defend him off a double team (with the exception of the 0.4 on the Spurs). But it's well-known that Bryant is more clutch than Fisher. When Derek was put in Bryant's situation against Boston, he threw up an airball.

We did that once, and people only voted in about three different match-ups. The more they vote, the quicker it goes...just encourages everyone to participate in the voting. -

Haha, I have no idea. That's an EJ "Stat of the Night" for us to wait for.

Thanks bro, but it has. I'm just having a bit of trouble keeping up with the player profiles I'm creating, along with team roster pages, schedules, history, etc. Plus, I had draft results up for 10+ years (I think from 1995-2009), had a trade checker for our mock season that I'll need to somehow re-code, among many other things. But it'll get there. I have a Jamison banner to do tonight, and a new Wizards banner. Then I'm going to cut some new pictures of the Sixers, and add Salmons to the Bucks banner (removing Ersan). Got a podcast to record tonight/tomorrow as well. Tons of work.

He did that a while ago, actually. We had the list up for both of them, just not sure where it went.

Vince Carter Hits Full Court Shot Sitting Down
Real Deal replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in Orlando Magic Team Forum
LOL, I actually tried this at the park a couple of days ago. I shot it five times, sitting down from 3/4 of the court back, and there was no chance. -
And the game-winner, sixth this season (four buzzer-beaters). Yeah, really easy at 80% health, too.

Phoenix @ Oklahoma City
Real Deal replied to alcstarheel's topic in Oklahoma City Thunder Team Forum
Good win by Phoenix, much needed. I had no idea they'd play that good without Nash, but I guess multiple teams do this throughout the season. For the Thunder...damn. No more win streak. Nine straight until tonight. Durant notched his 29th straight 25+ point game, and Russell Westbrook is playing amazing these last 10 or 11...but it's still a loss. -
Now wait a minute. Are you saying Kobe didn't perform well enough this game? Just curious... I think it has more to do with Cleveland performing well enough. Kobe had a near perfect game tonight, and it was still way too close.

LeBron says he does not get enough calls
Real Deal replied to Hero's topic in Cleveland Cavaliers Team Forum
Well, then my question lies with the two games I cited from that season. Why didn't LeBron lock him up then? I actually remember one of those highlights, when he was shooting on LeBron, and one of the guys on NBATV was saying how "Batman should've been an all-star." I believe that was in the April game. The November game was when LeBron was supposed to come out and give that defensive stand, and he failed to do so. It's the big reason why he focused all of his attention on Granger in that December game you produced, but his offense suffered from it. Cleveland has a solid defensive unit, one of the best defensive teams in the league. They can take away the drive, and that's not only due to LeBron James. Granger is a shooter, but he does take it to the rim sometimes. Stick LeBron in Washington, no Haywood...and I really don't think he does as good against someone like Granger in that game you gave me, because nobody is behind James to stop the drive. Same thing goes for Ray Allen, when he's defending Bryant. I wouldn't expect Kobe to drive in with Perkins and Garnett (a healthy Garnett) in the game, so when people look at the game and say, "Wow, Ray Allen is forcing Kobe into all of those shots," I think most of us know better than that. I truly think LeBron's defense has improved as well. I've stated that before, actually. I just don't think his on-ball defense is as good as people are making it out to be. He's a juiced Shannon Brown. His athleticism makes it super easy to block shots and steal passes, but against scorers, he finds his feet glued to the floor sometimes, on jumpers or drives, and that's why there are games where he decides not to defend those type of players. -
LeBron says he does not get enough calls
Real Deal replied to Hero's topic in Cleveland Cavaliers Team Forum
So you just said that "it was one game" when someone gave you what Melo did against LeBron, but then you gave me one game when LeBron held Granger in check? And yes, LeBron did defend Granger in all of those games in 2008-09, including the two you gave me. LeBron is not the best defensive player in the NBA. Do you think he is?
