Then your argument is flawed, because you told me that Shaq shoots better two-point shots...and 16-footers are two-point shots. Shaq is a dunker. Kobe is a shooter. Odom is a slasher and finisher. So is LeBron. Ray Allen is a shooter. The discussion is over. Kobe is the better shooter. Shaq, Odom, even LeBron...you don't choose any of them to take that 16-footer, even though their FG% are over 48% and better than Bryant's for the 2009 season. Now, if you want to argue that, you can also tell me who takes that two-point shot between Kendrick Perkins and Ray Allen, or Kwame Brown and Richard Hamilton, or Joakim Noah and Ben Gordon...and we can go all day long.
-
Both are wide-open, for some stupid reason. Who gets the ball to make that last 16-foot, two-point SHOT?

Shaqs 2PT field Goals Vs. Kobes 2PT field Goals?
Real Deal replied to Mike Hawk's topic in Player Comparisons
If you're going to ask it, ask who the better shooter is. -
Garnett (DPOY) is waiting in the paint. Your team is down by one, you need a two to win the game. Who gets the ball, Kobe Bryant or Lamar Odom, if both are 16 feet from the rim? Who's taking the SHOT from 16 feet out with 1.5 seconds left?

Don't even bother dude, just wait for someone else to post.

Manu shot like 41% or so for them, and hurt them big time, in 2008. He was a pretty bad player in the playoffs, taking shots away from everyone else and limping up and down the court. The Spurs ran into a better Dallas team. That's what happened. Just as the Nuggets avoided the Lakers in 2009 during that first round.

For the last [expletive]ing time, nobody said they were. Get that through your thick skull. Go to a basketball coach and ask him what the hell efficiency is. Ask him what a shot is, and what a dunk is. Ask him if Shaq is a better shooter than Kobe, and don't say another word when he laughs in your face and questions your intelligence. I suggest you leave the site. I'm getting sick of you being a dumbass on purpose, and if you really aren't, I'd rather not have you posting here ruining our quality discussion.

2004-05 season was filled with injuries. The Lakers were 24-19 before Kobe and Odom were injured, and Tomjanovich left, and Hamblen (who sucked) replaced him. So Kobe and Iverson were similar? Kobe was a major part of a dynasty as a poor leader? Since Shaq was also a poor leader, according to Phil Jackson...who led the dynasty on the court? Amazing. :o And the difference between the first-round exit and the WCF exit? The team the played. Are you telling me that the Spurs' WCF exit in 2008 being different from their 2009 first-round exit is because of poor leadership? And Iverson didn't accept a bench role. He'll be starting.

Neither. Go vote, by the way: http://www.otrbasketball.com/forums/topic/5339-better-shooter

Just curious...who's the better shooter? Thanks.

Here's the summary of his arguments... 1) Shaq is one of the best shooters in the history of the game. 2) It's okay to use stats when comparing Magic to Kobe, but you can't do it when comparing LeBron to Bryant 3) You can't compare two players of different positions, even though Kobe did run the point-forward in the triangle 4) You can't compare a non-HOF'er to a HOF'er, unless it's Karl Malone compared to Charles Barkley 5) On-court abilities are measured by your level of sportsmanlike conduct, which explains LeBron's sucky play and Antawn Jamison's HOF play. 6) Leadership makes for the greatest players, which include Derek Fisher and Antonio McDyess. I don't know if I covered everything or not.

He actually tore into Walton in the locker room...but okay. Now you're splitting hairs.

I swear that in the five years I've posted here, I've never read anything like that in my life. It's the dumbest thing to say that a player is a better shooter because he makes his dunks. But you win, good for you. I'm done discussing the topic with you. Anyone else have an opinion, for or against Kobe, that makes basketball sense? Shooter = jumpshooting Efficiency = percentages, shot attempts for points Player = on court On Court = 94 feet of basketball hardwood Let's make sure we have all the variables and the basics of basketball down before we continue our discussion, guys. Thank you.

Not so sure about that. Peanut butter is one of the best sources for protein you can find.

Wow. Kobe shoots a lower percentage than Magic because Bryant was doubled more, and he also attempted more shots per game. Ever heard of a zone defense? Magic didn't have to score 25-30 a game. He had Kareem and Worthy doing that. Kobe, even during the dynasty, was averaging 25-30 AND leading the team in assists. When you have more defensive pressure on you, you're going to shoot a lower percentage. That doesn't mean you're a worse shooter, unless you've completely bottomed out at 40% or less a season. Ray Allen is a better shooter than Rajon Rondo, but his FG% is lower because he gets more defensive attention. That's the last time I'm explaining it to you. I'm doing more teaching than debating.
-
Apparently, you didn't see him slap Gasol in the back of the head, or jump Sasha's ass numerous times during the season.
-
You are the only person on this site, and the only person on any site I've ever visited, that doesn't understand the difference between a shot and a dunk. Kobe shoots better than LeBron. James is a better dunker. Ray Allen shoots threes better than both of them. Kevin Love shoots half-court shots better than all of them. It doesn't matter the value of the shot. The point is that if Magic is being doubled, he has to pass or shoot the ball, and there's a better chance Kobe can make that shot because, uh, he's a better shooter than Magic Johnson is. How much more detail do you need? Damn dude.
-
Iverson will run the point. Mayo is the better shooter, and I expect him to stay at the two-guard position to catch and shoot a little more.
-
Then grow up, or you can do just what you wish and find another board.

Anyways, if anyone else needs to know what a shooter is... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dime-090128 http://www.fannation.com/throwdowns/show/144737-the-best-pure-shooter-in-the-nba?category_id=3 http://www.onemanfastbreak.net/2009/01/26/nbas-deadliest-shooters/ Plenty more, guys. We all know what a shooter is.
-
You're about done here.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dime-090128 Best shooters in the NBA. Don't see FG% by Shaq or any big man dunker in there. Check. Get out of my topic.

Really? I have no problem debating Snake. You're just acting like a complete fool, like you have in the past (and were suspended for before).
-
Uh...what? Are you seriously acting this stupid because I gave you a warning earlier for what you said to Matt? Be honest. Please leave my topic, before I help you do so.

He was really good with his teammates. He was praising guys like Smush and even the rookie Vujacic when they did something good. Did you see the Game 4 vs. the Suns, when Smush stole the ball and gave it to Kobe to go into overtime? Kobe was hugging Smush, midcourt. He taught them the triangle offense. He did what he does now. The difference was a big that could contribute as a second option, and that's all she wrote. I don't see how that's difficult to understand.
