You got some set of balls my friend.

Good to see Haslem still got some good minutes. 30 minutes. His average last year was like 35 or something.

Poe, I have got to give you credit on O'Neal. I did not expect him to do this well the first game of the season. I do hope though he can contain this throughout the season. If he does, then we can be a very good team I think.

Haslem To Come Off The Bench Behind Beasley

True, I was thinking of that as well, but I wonder what his mentality is now. I know he said he's fine with it, but who knows. We'll see. -
Haslem To Come Off The Bench Behind Beasley

I don't like this at all. I rather have Haslem at PF and Beasley at SF. I think that would work better than Q-Rich at SF and Beasley. If they want to move Beasley to the PF position, then put in Jones at SF. He can defend and can shoot threes. Q-Rich probably can just knock down some threes, but he definitely can't defend. -
Yeah, I'm interested in how this year will play out.

Maggette To Start At PF, Randolph Out
platoon793 replied to Legacy's topic in Golden State Warriors Team Forum
I really don't get this move at all. Maggette won't be able to defend other bigger PFs in the league, like Carlos Boozer or Tim Duncan. -
Blake Griffin has a stress fracture in his patella

Definitely sucks for the Clippers. They will definitely miss him. I wonder how well they can do without him. -
Personally, it all depends on how the supporting cast plays this year, and if they are ready to step up. I don't think that will happen. I think Beasley and Chalmers need one more year before they can become more consistent and help out the team a lot. O'Neal in my opinion is washed up. Not expecting much out of him. 15 points and 6 rebounds I'm guessing, and a block or two. I do hope though Spoelstra focused a lot on perimeter defense, because we suck at that. We were like 3rd in opponent 3pt field goal percentage, which sucks.

Pretty simple, but it looks nice and smooth.

http://www.totalfilm.com/features/15-greatest-movie-shorts-on-youtube Some nice short movies there. I've seen the Martin Scorsese one, and it's pretty good. And the past few days I've seen some very good short films, and two that aren't on there are Six Shooter and Alive in Joburg. Alive in Joburg is Neill Blomkamp's short movie which District 9 is based off. EDIT: Also, Kubrick's short movie Day of the Fight isn't bad either.

Because pretty much all European countries aren't too fond of immigrants. I never said Americans should prefer a big government, I'm just saying that having a big government isn't a bad thing, like you think it is. You might not prefer to have one, but don't tell me it's a bad thing. Don't give me the "how about you move there?" crap. We all know why I can't just move there. America is a lot better when it comes to immigrants, as are European countries. I'm happy in America as well. I'm not complaining about anything. And that's just a selfish point of view you have, and that's exactly why a government like Denmark's won't work here. A lot of people here mostly care about themselves, and not anyone else. As long as they are happy, then they don't care about the rest that live in poverty. In Denmark, that's not a problem, because so few people live in poverty because of the system of government they have. And for them, that works, because people there are happy with being a middle class citizen. What's better? A lot of middle class, few poor, few rich; or a lot of poor, OK middle class, and a few rich that basically control a big portion of the economy. I'm sure a government like Denmark will never work in the U.S., because I'm sure many people have your point of view, and I'm happy right now in the USA, but I think the government could be improved in that more people can become happy, like me and you. In such a developed country as the U.S., there shouldn't be so many people without health care, and so many people poor (especially in the big cities).
-
That's fine. It doesn't work for you, then fine. Nothing wrong with that. But it sure would work for a lot of people. The reason the Danes are so happy is that there are so few poor people, a lot of middle class, and maybe a few rich. There isn't a huge gap, like in America (used to be a lot worse). One of the reasons the Great Depression even started has to do with the lack of distribution of wealth. A few wealthy people had the majority of the money, while a lot of people were poor. The middle class wasn't that big, and that left a lot of people poor (so they were obviously unhappy). It's not just that "happiness is relative." There is a reason why Denmark is the happiest country in the world. If I remember correctly, their income tax is above 50%. That money that goes to the gov't pays for college, hospital visits, etc. They don't have to worry about not going to the college they want because they can't pay for it. That's a reason they are happy. A big middle class + few poor + few rich = majority of people happy.

Hmmm, funny. I must say, the Danes sure are happy for a country that according to Jefferson would have few liberties.
-
lol, OK. You obviously don't understand what Obama is doing. And don't give me the "you don't know me" bull[expletive]. You know what, fine. Your opinion is fine. That's just your preference. Nothing wrong with it. The problem I have is you thinking socialism is a bad thing in general. You might not prefer it over what the USA has now, but you can't say it's a bad thing and it's evil and whatnot.
-
lol, OK. I'll take my own advice, and I won't even try to argue with you. I've argued with many people like you, and it always just turns up bad. EDIT: I don't think I know you. I'm just going by what you have stated/implied in this thread.
-
Haha, why OldChili do you even try? It's obvious he is one of those people who always had the opinion in his head that socialism = communism = Stalin = dictatorship = evil.
-
Haha, this thread provided me with laughs. I agree with the socialism thing. Not a bad thing at all. And the thing about WWII pulling us out of the Great Depression, that is true, but the New Deal did a lot as well. WWII got us out with the mass mobilization, but the New Deal really helped the economy. During Hoover's last year (1932), the GNP fell 13.4% and unemployment rose to 23.6%. In 1933 (when Roosevelt came in), the GNP only fell 2.1% and unemployment went to 24.9%. The next year, GNP rises 7.7%, and unemployment falls to 21.7%. That's no random coincidence. When he cut some of his programs in 1937 (after seeing a record 14.1% rise in the GNP in 1936), the country went into another recession. GNP went up only 5% and unemployment was at 14.3%. Then, in 1938, GNP falls 4.5% and unemployment goes back up to 19%. He starts his programs back up in 1939, GNP rises 7.9% and unemployment down to 17.2%. Under FDR, on average, the average growth was 5.2% (compared to Reagan's 3.7%). While WWII was the thing that really got us out of the Great Depression, you can't say the New Deal didn't help the country recover. By the way, here is the source I used: http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/Timeline.htm And the guy has listed sources, so he didn't just make [expletive] up.

My 2nd favorite film of the year behind Watchmen. A lot of good performances in this, and I liked the small roles that Ralph Fiennes, David Morse, and Guy Pearce had.
-
I thought it wasn't as bad as everyone said. The ending was OK, it wasn't absolutely horrible and it certainly wasn't good. Nicolas Cage at times IMO was laughable, but I thought the premise of the movie was good and the execution was decent. I do think the disaster scenes in those though are very well done, and I don't think it was overdone, like The Day After Tomorrow.
-
I must say I absolutely loved this movie. I've seen it 3 times (theatrical version twice, blu ray director's cut once) and everytime I watch it IMO it gets better. It's a fantastic film, with great characters, and the acting is very good (besides Silk Spectre II/Malin Akerman, she was OK). I thought Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jackie Earle Haley were fantastic in this, and Patrick Wilson was very good in it as well. And I didn't find this too long at all. Not once in this movie was I bored.

Ever watched a horror film that is scary?
platoon793 replied to andreusito's topic in Movies and Television Forum
The Shining is a very good movie, but it didn't scare me. It was creepy, but it didn't scare me or anything. I was reading that people thought The Descent was scary, and I rented that, and thought it was decent. Didn't scare me at all, most the time I was laughing at it. The only thing that "scares" me is when something pops out, for some reason I always fall for that. Though, overall, a movie never scares me. -

LMAO at all the haters in here. Can't believe people are making a big deal out of this little thing. Maybe he was tired, and didn't feel like taking pictures with dumb little kids or signing autographs. Who knows.
