We did this on a Wizards fan forum, and it was a very interesting concept with many new thoughts/ideas being brought up to further prove why Gil should or shouldn't be moved. If we keep Gilbert Arenas.... Risks: -We keep that huge contract, worsening our chances of possibly landing a big time FA in the future - Undermine John Wall's role on the team - If he gets injured again or causes another big problem, we're screwed. - Takes minutes away from other young players such as Nick Young, Cartier Martin, etc. Rewards: - He could return back to form, and could help us get to the playoffs. - He complements John Wall well, and becomes a great running mate for him in the backcourt. - Helps John Wall progress as a point guard. - Becomes a mentor to John Wall. Go ahead and name some yourself. I just summarized some of the main points listed on the Wizards forum.... Which outweighs the other? In the end, will the Wizards be thankful for not trading Gil, or will we completely regret it in the future?

Lol, well I developed this new mentality after I predicted the Wizards winning 50+ games last year

I don't know about that.. His shot is below average IMO, it's extremely awkward to even watch, it seems like he's trying to emulate Jamison's version of the "scoop shot" but it's not working. He does not have an amazing sense for blocking shots, not close even. That's one thing that I personally feel is an overrated aspect of his game. He gambles far too much, and if you can recall last year, he goaltended probably twice a game... He's just not smart, he has a low bball IQ and at times, looks completely lackadaisical on the court. I hope he proves me wrong, I hope he does blossom this year, but for now, he's nothing more than a journeyman hoping not to get replaced by next years draft.

Gyula He's still extremely raw offensively, all of these dunks and flashy highlights of him dunking over people will not be what we see come November. I just don't trust his skillset yet, I might be extremely pessimistic here, but he still has a long way to go. He needs to bulk up more, but more importantly, needs to learn how to play with his back to the basket. He's not a good man to man defender either.

After a while, yeah I'd say it is. I remember RD told me this a few months back, if there are members that constantly troll, just perma ban them, don't even consider bringing them back. The bad seeds are the reasons why there are problems in the first place, so get rid of them. I never had a problem with anyone here, but there are a few posters lately that I just can't stand.

Yeah you have to pay attention throughout the whole movie or else you're basically lost. Once you understand the plot, you will love and appreciate the movie even more.

McGee performing well in the summer league isn't something I care about. I believe last year he played well too. But come November, he always struggles because centers are either too big for him to post up, or too skilled for him to defend, making him completely useless on the court. Yeah he played well the past week or two, but it's nothing to get excited about. He has a low bball IQ and isn't what I would call, "skilled". All he is right now is an athletic freak.

What do you think of John Wall's performance so far?
AboveLegit replied to JWaLL's topic in Washington Wizards Team Forum
Flip Saunders said it best, when you mix potential with talent and a good attitude, you have a special player. As long as he maintains that great work ethic and mentality, he will have a great career. -
Amazing movie, I absolutely loved it.

John Wall makes Summer League debut tonight
AboveLegit replied to JWaLL's topic in Washington Wizards Team Forum
I guess I'll talk about game 2 against the Clips here. John Wall- Still needs to take care of the ball, there was a few times where he lost control, others when teammates weren't paying attention, and the rest off of simply steals. He looked good shooting the ball, that impressed me. Phil Chenier talked a lot about his obsession with the elbow jumper, and I love it too. He loves to penetrate, cross over, and pull up for that midrange game, I think it'll work in the NBA. He didn't focus on McGee as much tonight, and looked for others like Nick Young, Cartier Martin, etc. Very solid performance by Wall. Nick Young- He's in his contract year, he looks serious out there, and isn't smiling on the court. I love it. He needs to stay focused and determined, I want him to go on a "mean streak" and play with a chip on his shoulder. Trevor Booker- Good job running the floor, good job rebounding, and overall made an impact on defense. Cartier Martin and Lester Hudson- I really hope they make the team. With Hilton Armstrong signing a one year deal with us, we officially have beefed up the front line, now it's time to focus on the wings. Lester is a good defender, very tenacious, and loves to go for the steal. Also is a very good hustler. Cartier played well for us in 8 games last year, he has a good outside shot, but isn't a good slasher. I think he'll do well off the bench for us, just needs to work on consistency. -

Lol what? What game were you watching? Did you even watch the NCAA tourney or any Kentucky games last year? John Wall is known for all of those things... -

Yeah and he got a few bogus ones like stepping over the line, etc. It probably will be a problem in his rookie year, but that should be expected. -

Wall is probably one of the smartest, most mature rookies you'll find in this league.. His turnovers don't bother me, he made a few careless mistakes here and there, but the rest of his TO's came off of trying to set up plays for his teammates. He looked to score, but at the same time, was setting up players. It's exactly what we need in Washington -
There have to be parameters for what makes a "great player." They have to be very clear and concise and they have to set all things relative to all other things in the most real way. In other words, I choose 1a. winning, 1b. stats - confined by whether or not you won and 3. MVP - tiebreak, because those things are a) real, as in measurable, b) relative - i.e. he led his team to 3 titles while the other guy led his team to only one; not "player A is really skilled and I don't like player B's skill set." and c) subject to a rational discussion after you've actually quantified and related someone's achievements to everyone else. Rings are all that matters. The rest is just sorting out who is better after two guys win the same. Jordan was a ridiculous winner and statistical producer. Russell was a ridiculous winner. Wilt was a great stat producer. Winning rules if you're one or the other.

Yeah I'll be watching. I've been looking forward to this game more than the World Cup Final. -
100% so far on RT, 17 fresh. The reviews some of the critics have made are just excellent.
-
Just look at what Poe posted. I can see Flip going small in the fourth with a Wall-Arenas-Hinrich-Booker-Blatche to give us some good offensive output.
-
I don't see a significant cut in playing time. He should be getting close to the amount of time he got in Chicago back in 2008 (when he was backing up Salmons, and Gordon). So that's around 26MPG, which is only 7 less minutes than last year.

This. I hardly ever get scared watching these type of movies, but Exorcist was [expletive]ing crazy.
-
Title is self explanatory... Durant has the perfect opportunity to become a MVP in 2011, hell, I can see him winning two or three in a row with the way the Thunder are built. Thoughts?
-
It was money well spent. He does so many things on the court. Spot up shooter, solid passer, good basketball IQ, good rebounder, and is a solid defender. IMO, he's the best FA they could possibly have gotten.
-
Yeah this can't be the most....maybe for the off season though.

Gilbert - "LeBron Quit"
AboveLegit replied to Cleveland's Finest's topic in Cleveland Cavaliers Team Forum
LeBron made the smart decision. I can see why the people of Cleveland hate him. He did go out on national television and said he won't be in Cleveland anymore. It's a tough thing to swallow, not only for a basketball franchise, but for their economy. Many businesses will lose money, the franchise itself will lose money (merchandise will be a tough to thing to sell unless some hardcore fan wants to buy a Mo Williams jersey...), and all those restaurants and bars lined up outside the stadium will lose a lot of business. Like I said before though, LeBron did make the right move. Sometimes you gotta look out for yourself and make the right career choice. I hate LeBron to death, I refuse to root for him unless he's playing for Team USA(even then it's tough to root for him), but he made a smart move. -

Show some respect to the man who brought life to the organization.... What a [expletive]ing classless owner.
