  1. Man, this was hot. I actually like this better than the regular version of this song.
  2. Well, Van Gundy connected this to the NFL, he said something along the lines of..."You don't see football players getting thrown out after committing three holding penalties." I don't have a strong stance on this whole topic, I think Jeff has a good argument, but there's always the thought of a player committing too many fouls.
  3. If you have been watching the Cleveland-Orlando game, Jeff Van Gundy began his usual rant, this time about the foul out rule in the league. He went on to say the fans are robbed of getting to see their favorite players play most of the game, and thus, ruins some of the excitement in the game. Do you believe there should be a foul out rule in the NBA today?
  4. In 2006 the Houston Rockets made a trade on draft day that sent their 8th overall pick, Rudy Gay to the Memphis Grizzlies for Shane Battier and Stromile Swift. Memphis GM, Jerry West was very high on Gay, which helped their plans for rebuilding. In just his second season in the league Gay doubled his scoring average from his rookie season to 20.1, and became known as a fine wing player. As for Houston's side of the deal, they brought in one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, which strengthened their overall defense. What if Jerry West never pulled the trigger on this deal? Would Houston have benefited from drafting Gay? Would they be better off building around Tmac, Yao, and Gay?
  5. NYC, I go there a few times a year and just love it.
  6. Yeah, but either way I would rather go with Boykins than James.
  7. I like it, our backcourt is weak, Boykins is a good pass first PG off the bench. It's better than giving time to Mike James.
  8. Good topic, I myself am in the same position you are in currently. Right now I'm looking at College Park Maryland. Looking at the price/money is probably biggest thing I look at. My dad also suggested me going to this Scholar Program at the local community college near my home, it's a 2 year program, after I graduate, I can go to almost any university I like. It saves me a ton of money. I suggest you looking into that as well if money is an issue. Good luck with everything.
  9. Whoah that is wierd. Good luck RD, hope you find out who really did this.
  10. You don't know anything regarding his personal life....
  11. I agree, however I was directing this to the people attacking Arenas..
  12. lol I'm not denying she is ugly, but this is disrespectful. And this isn't to defend Gil either, because I feel for him (I just got out of a relationship, so I'm pretty sensitive to this subject). If this was about Mehmet Okur, I would feel the same way. It's a human being, no one deserves to be cheated on (always a few exceptions to this, but you get my point).
  13. I'm sure as the season goes on, they would learn from their mistakes. I'm more directing this to calls favoring superstars.
  14. The one nice luxury of the preseason was that despite the high volume of calls, the star treatment was lessened quite a bit. Now that the regular refs are back, they’re back to their old antics. Non-calls are a lot more rampant and obvious blocking fouls or charges are called the wrong way. Do you prefer the star treatment? I’m personally a big advocate for calling games fairly. And unfortunately, any NBA player will tell you that there are refs out there who have personal vendettas against certain players and coaches. I suppose that’s only natural since refs are human, too. But shouldn’t the NBA be moving to rid the game as much as possible from human error? With the technology that is currently at their disposal, they could certainly have a referee working the game who only looks at footage instead of running around with the players. I know the NBA is a business and it is within their best interest to promote their star players. But personally, I’m a fan of the game of basketball. I like to watch guys playing their hardest while playing clean. And if a foul is committed then I believe a call is warranted. I would much rather see stars born through great play than by getting a leg up by referees. In my opinion, the replacement refs were doing a better job at calling the games fairly. Perhaps the NBA should have saved itself some cash and stuck with those guys.
  15. C - Wes Unseld: if I have to even explain this pick, I will fight someone (I'm not even joking). PF - Elvin Hayes: Sure, he was Playoff Karl Malone before Karl Malone, but the guy was post jump shooting machine and could rebound like nobody's business. Plus, he was a great shot blocker which makes up for Unseld's one defensive deficiency. SF - Gus Johnson: Okay, he was technically a power forward in his days with the Bullets, but he was one the most athletic players ever and considering the two guys I'm starting at guard, his rebounding abilities make perfect sense. SG - Earl Monroe: The Pearl was a scoring machine with the Bullets and would be even more so with this line up. PG - Gilbert Arenas: See above, except imagine how many open shots and fast break points he'd get playing with Unseld (in my world I'm releasing both guards on defensive, no one is getting a rebound with that front line). Bench Jeff Ruland Jeff Malone Caron Butler Kevin Loughery Phil Chenier Walt Bellamy John "Hot Plate" Williams (for comedy).
  16. Way to go totally off topic...Where did I speak about Shaq? I was the first to admit that the acquisition of Shaq was not overrated, but now I'm starting to think it is. Not only is he not able to more than 30 minutes, he completely slows down the defense. yes, he gives cleveland another scorer in the paint, but at what cost? Ruining your defensive strategy? Making Mike Browns job on the offensive end even worse, when he is a horrid coach to begin with? And it's laughable to even say Powe brings defensive intensity. I watched him throughout his career in Boston he's everything but that. Stop overrating your players, Anthony Parker played nearly 40 minutes in the season opener and scored 11 points, he isn't a great pick up at all. Jamario Moon is just a bad basketball player in general, his best attribute is defense, and he's just exceptional on that end of the court. And I still do not know why you wasted your time bringing up the 2007 squad, that team was not elite at all, nor were they something to even mention in this topic. And when you questioned me about my thoughts on Shaq being a top 5 Center, I didn't know if you were serious or not. Is it that big of a deal anyways? When you have guys like Perkins being mentioned in the top 10 Centers currently, you know the big men in the league are horrible. shaq is 34 years old (correct me if I'm wrong), easily fatigued, an average defender, and a good post presence. Big deal. Mo Williams is the most overrated PG in the league today. Not only is he a choke artist, he did not "develop" at all during his first season in Cleveland. He is the same player I saw in Milwaukee, except with a much smaller role now. He doesn't show up in late game situations, he feeds off of LBJ double teams, he is extremely inconsistent, he is an average playmaker and a solid passer, and is a horrid defender, yet you manage to say he is a "damn good point guard." I don't know how you come up with that erroneous statement, but I guess that's what I've come to expect nowadays.
  17. And it's amazing how people can rate someone based on if they made the All Star Game or not... The ASG is a joke, Mo Williams is a joke and shouldn't even have made the team.
  18. Douglas Roberts played great, and found a way to keep attacking the Wizards defense. I liked his effort last night, and I think he's in for a very solid season.
  19. I hate your explanation on Arenas. You have not seen him play this year...
  20. Showing stats from last season is one thing, maybe I'm confused by your post, but it seems like your supporting Cleveland's cast around LBJ and think it's enough for Bron. In that case, I don't see how you could be thinking that way after the first two games of the season. lol what? Their defense is great....
  21. Yes I will base my opinion off of the first two games of the season. I've watched both games, and that was enough to generate a legitimate opinion. When your best player scores nearly 40 and a triple double in two games, you know somethings wrong. And don't put words in my mouth saying that my opinion of these two games is defining the whole season, I firmly believe the Cavs can be a top 3 team in the East. And in the offense Mike Brown supposedly runs, what is there to adjust to? Shaq is fit for this offense, he has his kick out shooters, he is the big man in the paint, and he has his dominant wing, just like in LA. So no, you're completely wrong, there is no adjusting to this offense. When he came to PHX, he had to adjust to a completely new system, but in Cleveland, there is no offense, it's a 1 man show. What? LBJ never played with a real Center ever? Big deal. What in the world is that supposed to mean? If anything, that gives him more opportunities to score, especially someone as dominant as Shaq. As a ball player myself, if there's one thing you realize when you play with new upgraded players, it's that you get more chances to win, and more chances to score.
  22. lol, I'm sorry, but just because we're talking about what Cleveland needs, don't assume we're hating. I understand you're trying to defend your team, but it's time to face facts. Last season, LeBron didn't have to score 38 points in the opening game, following it up with a triple double the next game. When you lose both of those games, it's clearly evident there are some issues.
