  1. They're getting All Star caliber talent on a team lacking any real depth. This is a fantastic move. Garnett gets to rest even more now.
  2. His reaction to all this: http://gifsoup.com/view2/1468833/turiaf-cant-believe-it-o.gif
  3. My guess is Garnett, but I do believe Ainge isn't confident in Garnett holding up this year. If this goes down, the depth Boston has at PF is amazing. Bass, West, and Garnett is more than enough. Still wondering why they haven't gone after a center though.
  4. This may be a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway... Would Laker fans rather see a trade for Chris Paul while giving up Gasol, or a trade acquiring Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Goran Dragic, and a draft pick for Gasol? That is essentially what Houston is giving up in the original deal.
  5. http://www.nba.com/2011/news/features/david_aldridge/12/09/celtics-david-west-deal-close/index.html Wow. My guess is that Ainge plans to do a sign and trade, possibly involving Jeff Green. Either way, this comes off as a total surprise, not sure where he fits in Boston.
  6. http://dc.sbnation.com/washington-wizards/2011/12/9/2625204/nba-trade-rumors-knicks-ronny-turiaf-wizards/in/2364217 Love it. EDIT: Now I'm seeing on Twitter that we may be giving up a future 2nd rounder in the deal.
  7. Taking into consideration the potential of Thad, I like it. Some may say they overpaid, but I like their aggressiveness in locking him up. I'm still wondering what's going to happen to Iguodala though.
  8. Dan Gilbert not only is the biggest joke in the league by far, he's also one of the worst owners in the league. And literally LOL at the thought of the addition of Antawn Jamison propelling the Cavs into the favorites to win that year.
  9. Undersized at the 4 spot like Big Baby, but regardless he is an upgrade. I like his midrange game, and he's very athletic. Plus he comes cheap, and that saved money can go to re-signing Green.
  10. Great signing, Thornton played amazing after the trade to Sacramento averaging over 21PPG, not to mention he's only 24.
  11. See this is where the owners and GM's get most of the blame, guys like CP3 and LeBron have waited years for them to play on contenders and it didn't work out. I disagree with the idea of choosing where to play, but you can't blame guys like CP3, Melo, and LeBron for leaving. It should not take more than 3-4 years to build a team around a foundational player. It took the Sonics/Thunder two years (and in those 2 years, they won a combined 40 games) before getting a good team around KD. I know there are exceptions to this idea, but bad management has a lot to do with player movement.
  12. But here's the difference between those teams back then, and teams now. Bulls acquired Jordan, Pippen, and even Horace Grant through the draft. Bad Boy Pistons drafted Dumars, Thomas, and Rodman. Hell even the Lakers of old drafted Magic, Worthy, and AC Green. The draft is the best way to build a winner. Modern day teams are going after the big name free agents rather than developing players they brought in from college. Which is why many hardliners as well as Stern are visibly frustrated over this superstar movement.
  13. It doesn't matter where he's going, it's the fact that Stern is trying to stop players from forcing their way to teams. But not if the league owns the team, right? It's a whole different story when there's no owner in place. Definitely agree with this.
  14. Yeah this makes Dwight to Brooklyn very realistic now. Initially I thought an offer of Lopez and picks wouldn't suffice, but clearly given what went down with CP3, it is. I expect this to go down in the next day or two.
  15. We're probably nearing the end of David Stern as it is. I can't imagine him staying commissioner much longer.
  16. Stern should have simply stipulated that LA send more assets in the trade. Problem solved.
  17. Difference here is, Stern is looking after the best interest of the league. Now obviously this has taken a turn for the worse, it's most definitely ruined the image of the league, but the idea that he and the majority of the owners advocate parity plays a large role. And correct me if I'm wrong, but this is all within Stern's authority as commissioner to block a trade, all owners agree to these authorities when buying a team. BTW, did anyone see Dan Gilbert's letter to David Stern regarding the trade? http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ys-nba_dan_gilbert_email_lakers_hornets_trade_120811
