Here's what I'm getting out of this. The league is in the process of selling the Hornets. Payroll and marketability are two factors that determine the sale of a team. This deal would essentially send away a superstar in Chris Paul, and add 30 million to the payroll this year, and 21 million next year in mid-tier, low marketable players. Who's going to buy that team? The trade would increase the cost of ownership, and decrease the likelihood of profitability. If Chris Paul files a grievance, he would lose. I believe Stern has enough justification to invalidate the trade.

They will definitely miss Martin's scoring, but replacing Scola with Pau is huge. You're bringing in a legitimate All Star now, and frees up time for Patt Patterson to develop. Courtney Lee also gets a chance to step up. You also free up space for Nene who appears to be on his way to Houston based off Morey trading the first rounder to free up more cap space.

Melo has a scorers mentality, your primary p&r guy shouldn't be him.. Dantoni's offense has always stressed the importance of a good PG, this will be his first year working without one. And the addition of Chandler is huge, they may be able to rival the Celtics for the division title this year (unless they get CP3).

Caron Butler agrees to terms with Clips
AboveLegit replied to GamerGuy's topic in Los Angeles Clippers Team Forum
I like that the Clips were aggressive, they got a major upgrade at the SF over Gomes. I think the Clips want him as more of a glue guy rather than a top option on offense. Actually, come to think of it, he would fit in nicely as a sixth man. He's a volume scorer that needs the ball in his hands in order to be effective. Start a low usage guy like Gomes, and have Butler work with the second unit. I know they didn't pay 8 million for a guy to come off the bench, but it would get the most production out of him. -
Detroit Worst Managed team in NBA?
AboveLegit replied to Check my Stats's topic in Detroit Pistons Team Forum
Agreed, and it's not that Prince is a bad player, Kuester and Curry played a lot of small ball last season which was abysmal to watch. They ran the offense through Tayshaun, you just can't do that. There's absolutely no bright spots for the Pistons outside of Monroe. I don't have much faith in Brandon Knight as a PG in this league. -
Rockets, Lakers and Hornets discussing three team deal
AboveLegit replied to Dash's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
Exactly, I just can't fathom New Orleans going for this deal over Boston's or even the Warriors and Clippers.. -
See the thing I'm wondering is, how will the offense work? Last year you had willing/good passers to initiate the pick and roll with Amare, which was absolutely devastating for defenses last season. Now you can't assume Melo those responsibilities because he's not a good passer, nor is he a willing one (especially off the p&r). If you're a Knicks fan right now, there's absolutely no reason to feel upset. All of this talk is just minor concerns, I fully believe with Chandler, New York is legitimate contender despite their weak bench and potentially poor PG play. Now the question of how far this Knicks squad goes is up for debate, because depth is a major issue, but there's no denying the talent they possess.

Rockets, Lakers and Hornets discussing three team deal
AboveLegit replied to Dash's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
I'm still wondering what valuable asset New Orleans is getting out of this deal... Pat Patterson? Really? And if Houston does this deal, they'll be stuck in mediocrity, when will they learn how to rebuild the right way? I have yet to figure out what Morey is trying to accomplish there. Hornets are also cooling off on the three way deal featuring the Celtics and are reconsidering just doing a trade between the two. It's clear that Boston's offer is the best one out there, only question is whether CP3 wants to go there. Ainge has the balls to do this deal without any guarantee of Paul signing an extension. -
I love the signing, this is exactly what they needed. However, there's still a downside to this. The PG position is the most important position in Dantoni's offense, you can't leave it up to the erratic play of Toney Douglas can you? Knicks had a lot of problems, particularly in the playoffs when it came to rebounding and contesting shots in the paint. Those days are over if/when they get Chandler.
-
See this is where Danny Ainge can work his magic, he's not attached to any player on his roster, he has the Clippers 2012 first, and if the Hornets keep getting low balled, they may be inclined to just accept Boston's offer. New Orleans clearly wants to deal CP3 before the season, trade talks need to start heating up within the next week or so.

Love this.

I like this signing, it takes the pressure off of Manu and Gary Neal who were forced to assume ball handling responsibilities whenever Parker was out. Besides, the Spurs desperately need depth at the guard positions during this condensed season.
