  1. Dan Snyder has proven over the last decade that this isn't the way to build a winner.
  2. I'm honestly baffled as to why people think Rondo is simply a product of the team he's on. Is it not obvious, from watching him play that he's actually an All Star quality player, regardless of his teammates? Some of us are so obsessed with individual achievements that playing in a winning environment is nothing but an indictment. Eventually he'll have to play without Pierce, Allen, and Garnett, will he win then? Probably not, because nobody can win without great teammates. He's not a product of his teammates or system, but more a product of circumstances. I can't stress this enough. Allen doesn't have to create for others, Pierce doesn't have to carry the load on offense, and Garnett doesn't have to do everything on the defensive end, similarly, Rondo doesn't have to score and has the freedom to egregiously gun for the assist record. He fits in perfectly with what Doc is trying to establish (or better yet, already has established), and in turn, makes Boston a more well rounded team. They're simply a team greater than the sum of its parts, much like the situation Billups fell into back in '06, or even Garnett in '08. IQ isn't all about passing, it's all of the intangibles he displays on the court. I'm not sure how his IQ is even in question. And lmao about him not being a leader, did you not watch him in the playoffs the past 3 years? He constantly elevates his play in the postseason, but due to him being injured this past postseason, people believe he isn't the player some think he is.
  3. I agree, but my whole side of the argument is that without Rondo, the big three would not be as successful and productive on offense. He's a leader, his basketball IQ is off the charts, and he's one of the best passers in the league. Like every PG, they need weapons around him. When the big three retires, I'm sure Danny will go spending money in FA (they will have a lot of it), to keep Rondo happy. His job is to facilitate and play stellar defense, you put him on another team and he's bound to make an impact.
  4. Love hearing people say his productivity on the court will decrease. People love to use the Big Three argument against him, but the fact is, for the past two years he's been the reason for the Celtics success. If it's not for him, they wouldn't have gotten to the Finals two seasons ago. And he's far from a one dimensional player..
  5. That wasn't a mistake. We took him out of the DE spot and made him an OLB, which resulted in him starting less and seeing a drop off in production. That being said, he was a class act here, and if there were ever a way for him to get a ring this year (and not Fat Al), I'm all for it. Speaking of mistakes, here's our most recent one: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/08/19/jamaal-charles-was-once-almost-dealt-to-the-redskins/ I'm just glad we're headed in the right direction now with Shanahan, he knows the game of football, and ever since he arrived, our future has looked brighter and brighter. I fully believe in his ability to build a contender, we're officially done overpaying FA's and it feels great. :glasses:

  7. Nope, outside the Gordon-Griffin duo, I don't see how they get in.
  8. This essentially kills an already diminishing Miami program. Something has to be done about this issue, many scandals have come up within the past year, the NCAA really needs to do something drastic to put an end to this. If all of these allegations are true, I believe the punishment will be similar to the last big one given to Miami, loss of scholarships and bowl games. Ironic thing is, since Shapiro got involved with the program, the team has under performed. Their peak year was in 2002.
  9. Replace Gasol with Melo, and I think the top 10 is perfect. It's a list of 100 players though, there's bound to be mistakes.
  10. Well the '99 Spurs won the title in a shortened season, and Pop did a great job that year in managing his older guys' minutes and playing a deep rotation. Doc does a good job managing the big three's minutes, and I've read that he's planning on playing Green more while resting Pierce/Allen. It's probably not the best comparison considering Duncan was playing like an MVP that season, but the Jazz also had a good run that year with an aging big three (Although they struggled in the playoffs). I don't think the lockout will hurt the Celtics that much, I trust Doc will make the right coaching moves to put the big three in a good position to succeed come playoff time.
  11. He's been playing ball a lot this summer, and his work ethic is off the charts, I expect a lot of improvement in his 2nd year. He was injured throughout his rookie year, and really didn't get the lift he had in high school and at UK, after seeing some videos of him, I think it's safe to say he's fully healthy and in great shape. He's also gotten noticeably bigger this summer which should help his ability to drive into the lane and finish. He wasn't as comfortable in the offense last season either, as he gets more and more confident running the show in DC, we will see him playing at a very high level. Blake had a year to figure the game out, the biggest lesson Wall said he learned after his rookie year was the importance of preparation and not putting his body in a position to be in pain. Many rookies experience growing pains in their first year, only to have great second seasons, from everything I've seen on John, indicates he will do the same.
  12. I'm not going to read too much into his rookie campaign, obviously it was a struggle for him because he had to adapt to a completely different style of play. I'm not so sure he will be an All Star, but I think he has the potential to be a very good all around player. He's at his best when he's initiating the offense, at Ohio State they used him a lot to create for others. It seemed pretty clear that he's most comfortable with pick n rolls in the halfcourt. I don't expect a big year from him unless Philly is completely convinced he's their franchise player (or at least one of the cornerstones of this franchise moving forward). Iguodala has to be moved in order for him to have a breakout season, and they need to add more catch and shoot players to the team. It would also help if he adds a reliable jumpshot to his arsenal.
  13. Atlanta improved on the defensive end every season in his coaching tenure, I think this would be a solid hiring.
  14. Love the Game, very excited for this album.
  15. Smart move by him, he needs to add a post game to his arsenal soon, he's only going to get older and can't take the beating he takes on a constant basis by driving in the lane.
  16. Love performed well last summer, so I figured he'd come back because of that. As for Blake, it's tough, but I think they could use his athleticism and ability to run the floor. Why not? He's all about winning another Gold Medal, he will do whatever is asked of him.
  17. I think strictly from a production standpoint, this album is unprecedented. I agree that these knee jerk reactions such as calling this the GOAT album are ridiculous, we have to give this album some time to settle in before we call it a classic. I give a lot of props to Jay though, this is the best I've heard from him in a long time. Mike Dean was amazing on this as well. I'll give this album a 8.5/10. Makes me really want to hear a possible Nas/AZ collab album.
  18. What do you think it will look like? Which players should be playing in London next summer? PG: Chris Paul/Deron Williams/Derrick Rose SG: Dwyane Wade/Kobe Bryant SF: Kevin Durant/Carmelo Anthony PF: LeBron James/Blake Griffin/Kevin Love C: Dwight Howard/Tyson Chandler By next year, I think it will be clear that Wade should start, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kobe ends up starting to allow Wade to be the main scoring punch off the bench like in 2008.
  19. The production on this is amazing. Lyrically, it's very solid, but just listening to it the first time around, I was very impressed.
  20. Do not plague another thread with this garbage.
  21. lol yeah it probably isn't the boldest statement out there, but oh well. Injuries could be a problem with Vick as well, but I think he will continue to trust his passing ability in the pocket. We'll see what happens with them, a lot of pressure is on them to succeed. I think the Broncos will just use this year to showcase Orton's talent even more, and then trade him when the market is right for both of them. Tebow has a lot to work on, but you gotta get him out on the field soon.
  22. Make some bold statements on the 2011 NFL Season (and playoffs). 1. I expect Vick to have a good season, but I'm not sure he has the MVP type year he had this past season. I think teams will figure out how to play him. However, I think they take the division, but the Giants are a legitimate threat. 2. Some people expect Torain to have a good season for the Skins, but I think with his injury concerns, Helu takes over as starter by the end of the season. 3. Dallas finishes 8-8 and misses the playoffs. Not a fan of what they did this offseason, still have a lot of holes to deal with. 4. Packers repeat. Too many starters returning from injury, not convinced anyone can beat them just yet.
