I didn't mention Irving because he's already taken by the Cavs. I haven't found anyone making a legitimate case for Brandon Knight being drafted this high, which is why I'm not convinced. I'm not biased when it comes to prospects, if someone can make a good case for him, I'd gladly change my opinion on him. Kanter is a hit or miss prospect, but we've seen many players like Brandon Knight before. And regarding Walker, he's a better PG than he's given credit for.
-
I don't know, I'm just not high on Knight at all. As I've said before, he benefited greatly from being in a rather weak draft class, I just don't see what's so great about him. Seriously, what does he do that separates him from Jerryd Bayless or Jeff Teague? But it doesn't make sense moving away from elite PG's and settling for a shoot first PG who is raw. If I had to pick a PG for the Jazz out of this draft class, I'd go for Kemba Walker.
-
I understand that, but Brandon Knight still brings the same qualities to the table. He's not a good passer at all, makes too many mistakes, and looks to score first. Given Utah's rich history in point guards, you'd think they would go out and find a pass first player instead. And I don't mean to hate on Devin Harris, he really had to learn the offense on the fly and did play banged up while putting up solid numbers. Milsap is an undersized PF and his trade value has peaked, it's only appropriate to ship him out now. A three big man rotation of Jefferson/Kanter/Favors would be very good as well, and I think Al will stay in Utah until their two young guys develop and when his contract is set to expire in 2013.
-
But that begs the question, why would you trade Devin Harris and bring in relatively the same player in Brandon Knight? In my opinion, despite what the circumstances are, you draft Kanter if he's available.

New main style (may need to refresh browsers)

This is sick, well done as always. -
Enes Kanter, I believe he's the third best player in this draft, and could have been the #1 pick had he played last season in Kentucky. I like Jonas V, from all of the updates I've been reading in the U-19's, he seems to be a legitimate center with good size and a very high ceiling. However, at this point in his development, he'd get pushed around a lot in the NBA and is still very raw, much like Favors. I'd much rather prefer the pairing of Kanter/Favors because it's a good mix of offense and defense. Derrick would have been the #1 pick this year, adding him with a talent that complements him well is exactly what Utah needs in order to get back to the playoffs. Favors has decent size, and it's the length that matters in this league, which Derrick has plenty of. Dwight Howard is roughly the same size, he's just heavier and maybe a big longer. Favors is only 19 years old, he will gain muscle/weight, and he measures better than Al Horford who is also a solid defensive big man. There's no reason for them to draft Brandon Knight...they need a pure PG, not an exact clone of Devin Harris (and we're not even sure he'd be better than Devin).

I'd just like to point out that while Kidd did make the Finals twice with New Jersey, he played in a historically weak conference. Nash's Suns teams were much better than Kidd's Nets teams, and it's really not close.

Wolves interested in Don Nelson and Rick Adelman?
AboveLegit replied to Dash's topic in Minnesota Timberwolves Team Forum
Nelson would be a good fit, but he wouldn't relate to the players. The Wolves are a young team, they need a coach that they can grow with and a coach that stresses the importance of defense. But in terms of playing style, Nellie fits the bill. Kahn wants an uptempo offense, and with what Don did in G.S; I'm sure he'd be interested. -
I voted for Kidd as well, but I don't think it's as easy a decision as you made it out to be. I really don't think Kidd deserved an MVP at all, Duncan won it by a good margin and I believe KG, Shaq, and Dirk were considered better MVP candidates than Kidd that season. I also do believe Nash didn't deserve his MVP awards (I think I've debated it quite a few times as well), but regardless, he did win two and we'll leave it at that. I also think both players weaknesses are a little overstated. Nash isn't as bad of a defender people say he is, I think during his MVP season he held his opponents to a PER under league average. Nash takes charges very well and plays solid team defense. When you consider his weak line of defense he had behind him, he's at least average. And as for Kidd, he is a solid shooter, it's creating his own shot that's always been a problem for him. It always angers me when people fail to acknowledge the defensive frontcourts certain PG's have to help cover up their mistakes. Tony Parker is just as bad of a defender Nash is, but no one ever mentions it because he's on a good defensive team. Same goes for Derrick Rose, he's an average defender, but people constantly look at his amazing athletic plays rather than the countless number of times he's out of position on the defensive end. I think it's very close, there are many things Kidd does that Nash can do just as well or even better.

Who had the better career? If both were in their respective primes, who would you rather take to build a franchise around?

He has hardware when playing in China, should we completely ignore what he did outside of the US?

Redskins Plan To Pursue Asomugha, Jenkins
AboveLegit replied to MainEv3nt's topic in NFC Conference Discussion
I've heard the Skins being linked to Braylon Edwards as well... which I absolutely hate. I don't understand what the direction of this franchise is if they do indeed sign Braylon. You draft 3 WR's, and it seemed pretty evident that they wanted to start developing young talent, bringing in a veteran receiver will only minimize potential. I like Asomugha, but I'm not sure he's worth the money he's projected to receive. Don't get me wrong, he's arguably the best CB in the league, but we're not a team trying to get over the hump, we need to rebuild and bring in young talent. -
We're talking about the Basketball Hall of Fame not the NBA Hall of Fame (because there isn't one..). It's also worth noting that he played basketball nearly year round when healthy. It's actually pretty amazing he managed to play his first three seasons without missing significant time (missed 2 games in that span). You have to realize what it takes to get into the hall of fame. It's not only predicated on what you did in the NBA, Yao already put up better numbers than Bill Walton ever did, and Walton got in mainly due to his college career. This is where you look at the fact that Yao has had a solid NBA career, but beyond that is what truly places him in the Hall. Yao is the first successful Chinese player in the NBA, and the first Chinese All Star in this league. Not only did he break down borders, but he did it with class. He's been apart of many humanitarian efforts both in US and in China, and was a dominant force in his years with the Shanghai Sharks. He won 3 FIBA Asian Championships and was an MVP in all of those runs.

2011 Pick #2: Minnesota Timberwolves
AboveLegit replied to Real Deal's topic in General NBA Discussion
Derrick Williams, he's the total package, and one of my favorite prospects to enter the league in the past few years. I completely believe he's going to be an all star in a few years. -
He's going to be missed, definitely a hall of famer. He's going to end up being one of those "what if" stories we're all going to ponder about when talking about basketball. When healthy, he was great. I think I'll always remember him for his game 1 performance against the Lakers back in 2009. Gets injured, re-enters the game, scores 8 straight points, and wins the game. It's amazing, out of the top 5 in the 2002 NBA draft, only two remain in the league (Dunleavy and Gooden). Jay Williams, Yao Ming, and Nikolaz Tskitishvilli are all out of the league.

What free agents should the Wizards look into?
AboveLegit replied to Real Deal's topic in Washington Wizards Team Forum
Maybe a few role players here and there, but that's about it. I just want to get the most potential out of these young guys before bringing in a star player that pushes us into the playoff picture. We can't afford to have stars on this team that takes away from the progression of Wall, McGee, Young, Crawford, and even Blatche. -
Switch players with your rival team...
AboveLegit replied to Scout200's topic in General NBA Discussion
If the Wizards had a rival team, I'd send Andray Blatche for their best player.. But just so I can fantasize...I'd trade Blatche for Blake Griffin. Wall and Griffin would be amazing. -
He definitely has the potential to lead them back to the playoffs someday, the kid is a winner. Coming into last season Uconn was ranked near the bottom of their conference, yet he took them straight to the top with some historical performances. He has the killer instinct, he comes up big in big games, and plays with passion. Those intangibles aren't always talked about when talking about rookies, but they have some substance to it.

Who stays, and who goes, for the Sixers?
AboveLegit replied to Real Deal's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
But if he doesn't want to be there, and Philly's future doesn't involve him, why not get the best value in return? Let's not forget, Evan is entering an important season, he needs to get his minutes and make the most of him, give him a fair shot to succeed. Face is, Turner is the future of the Sixers, the kid has a ton of talent, but you're not maximizing it with Andre still in the mix. -
Miami Heat's roadblocks for next season
AboveLegit replied to Real Deal's topic in Miami Heat Team Forum
Those aren't the only problems for LA.. their bench needs some much needed upgrades and a new PG would be something worth mentioning. It's far too early to tell which teams will give the Heat problems, the only logical answer to this thread is the Mavs for obvious reasons. Until the lockout is resolved, and teams are given a chance to make moves, only then can we make predictions for next season. -
Pretty much, and apparently I'm not alone.

Chicago's free agent options at SG
AboveLegit replied to Real Deal's topic in Chicago Bulls Team Forum
J-Rich would be a solid fit (and probably cheaper given the dropoff in his value), but it's not the best fit for Chicago. He struggled a lot in Orlando, but it was more due to the fact that Stan Van Gundy didn't integrate him in the offense as well as he could have. He needs more transition opportunities (he'd definitely get those in Chicago). He always benefited from playing in an uptempo offense like Phoenix, the Magic just didn't run enough for him to get in place to score. The offense was just hard to watch most of the time, it always seemed like they gave the ball to him late in the shot clock, which didn't allow him to create for himself, or better yet, drive the ball to the basket like we were accustomed to seeing in Phoenix and Golden State. But he did miss a ton of open shots. I remember how much Chicago fans got on Kirk for missing open jumpers, same would happen to Jason. -
Who stays, and who goes, for the Sixers?
AboveLegit replied to Real Deal's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
Problem with that is, his value will continue to fall if you keep him up until the deadline. He came off a strong showing with Team USA before the season started and had a very productive year with the Sixers. Collins challenged him to be an elite defender, and that's exactly what he did. It's what championship caliber teams are looking for, he could be a very good second/third option on a 50+ win team. But, he did miss a good amount of games last season, and if it continues on to next season, teams will get more hesitant to trade for him. I know some of the offers are pretty terrible, but if the offer of Monta Ellis is indeed on the table, I'd take it because it's the best offer you can possibly receive. I stated before that I don't like it for the SIxers, but you can always trade him for something better at the deadline. -
How should Steve Nash end his career?
AboveLegit replied to Real Deal's topic in Phoenix Suns Team Forum
He should end it the way he wants to. It's become increasingly clear that he wants to retire in Phoenix, it's just not in his nature to go ring chasing.
