LAL/PHI/DEN/ORL 4-way discussions
AboveLegit replied to NomarFachix's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
Love this for Denver, LA, and Philly. Iggy in George Karl's system is going to be a sight to see, I can't wait to watch that team. Still confused as to what Hennigan is looking for. A 30 year old that's owed 38 million the next 2 years? I'm sure they would flip him for some more young talent, but why not just get the second best center in the game? -
Batum bringing the Jail Blazers image back
AboveLegit replied to TheNotoriousBANG's topic in General NBA Discussion
Nic Batum complaining about flopping is pretty funny to me. -

Terry Stotts hired as Blazers' new head coach
AboveLegit replied to Warren2ThaG's topic in Portland Trail Blazers Team Forum
Weird hiring, you could point to Stotts lackluster coaching record (never went above .500 in a season), but to be fair, he's never had much to work with. It's really a hit or miss signing, this is his first real shot at proving himself in the league. -

Kings Extend Smart Through 2013-14 Season

Anything the Maloofs do is money driven. Easy decision for them. -
lol I didn't know the Mavs and Nets were playing an 82 game series .

lol @ using positional match ups as a justification for placing a team over the other.

Bills are a wildcard team Matt Flynn gets benched by week 8 Trent Richardson is top 3 in the league in rushing (and takes OROY) Due to his versatility, Melvin Ingram wins DROY. Can't call him a bust after 1 year, but I'm pretty confident Blackmon will never be a #1 receiver in this league, and I expect him to put up sub par numbers in his rookie year. Probably not a bold prediction since the Jags QB situation isn't ideal for a top rated WR, but I'm not a huge fan of him as a prospect coming out of college. His situation just isn't align with a traditional #1 WR prospect. Lacks down field ball skills, more of an underneath receiver in the spread, and isn't the greatest route runner.

Should the Heat take a chance on Blatche?
AboveLegit replied to Abro's topic in Miami Heat Team Forum
An emphatic no would be an appropriate answer. -
Slam: 5 teams expected to make significant jumps
AboveLegit replied to The Regime's topic in General NBA Discussion
Most are understandably skeptical on Wall, whether Wittman can finally lead a team to the playoffs as a coach (never has reached a win% of .500), and whether they have enough shooters to compliment their stars (Wall and Nene). If everything works out, I can see this team cracking the top 5 in the East, but I can also see the downside to all this movement. -
Defensive upgrade, Gio was pushing for him, I like it.

Hinrich has lost a step, Vlad Rad and Mohammad aren't even worth mentioning, and Teague could be in the running for worst player in the league. I loved Butler coming out of Marquette, and while I think he has a chance to show what he's worth with Deng possibly being out to start the year, he still is a relatively unknown commodity. A huge part of that Bulls team last year was their bench, and now half of it's gone and replaced with downgrades at almost each position.

Trade idea : Dwight to the Celtics?
AboveLegit replied to kingfish's topic in General NBA Discussion
Yeah, Dwight didn't average 20 and 15 en route to a Finals appearance just a few years ago... -
Lakers to implement Princeton offense
AboveLegit replied to The Regime's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
Yeah, mainly because the talent isn't there for most teams, a lot of athletes are under developed and can't match the skill set needed. But schools like Georgetown and even Wisconsin use it. -
Lakers to implement Princeton offense
AboveLegit replied to The Regime's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
I have no problem with LA running the Princeton, but it's all about how often they do so. If we're talking about incorporating it heavily in their offensive philosophy, then I'm completely against it. The Princeton has as much to do with personnel than anything else. But with Eddie Jordan, we're probably going to see the offense run Pau, Jamison, and maybe even Bynum on the elbows, freeing up perimeter iso's for Kobe and Nash. And contrary to popular belief, Eddie Jordan has never ran a traditional Princeton offense. He's all about dribble hand offs, I've rarely seen his teams run pick and rolls, and it's why I'm so skeptical as to how this fits LA's new direction with Nash. It's why Gilbert Arenas' assist numbers were always so low despite all the dribble penetrations, Eddie never asked his PG's to play the role of a PG in the conventional sense. And I hate to use that example because Gil had the scorers mindset, but it didn't help that he was essentially asked to go back and forth as a distributor and a scorer. -
Bulls To Sign Nate Robinson
AboveLegit replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in Chicago Bulls Team Forum
Solid signing, Hinrich will probably see more time at the 2 when Rose comes back, so going after another backup PG was imperative. -
Lakers to implement Princeton offense
AboveLegit replied to The Regime's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
Could work in small spurts, but I hate the idea of taking the ball out of Nash's hands. This philosophy would have been better off last year, not this year when you finally have a great PG. A two man game of Pau and anyone in this offense would be very effective, but I'm skeptical as to how Bynum and his decision making fits into this offense. -
1. Can't really call anyone a bust in their rookie season, but I'll go ahead and say Dion Waiters massively under performs. Didn't like him as a prospect coming into the draft, and him being a top 5 pick is laughable. 2. Jeff Teague wins most improved player of the year. 3. Chicago Bulls miss the playoffs 4. Rick Adelman wins coach of the year. I'll post some more when I think of them.

Kirilenko to sign with Minnesota: 2 yrs, $20M
AboveLegit replied to The Regime's topic in Minnesota Timberwolves Team Forum
You don't sign someone with the intent of trading him the following year. It's clear that management believes he's worth a first round pick and at the same price tag as Gerald Wallace. I disagree. You just have to question the direction of this franchise. After their failed pursuit of Nic Batum (who's overrated anyhow, and is not worth the Derrick Williams and 2 first rounders), they decide to overpay for a guy who hasn't played in the NBA in 2 years and at one point was mulling on the veterans minimum from the Nets. I like AK as a player, but not at this price tag. -
Kirilenko to sign with Minnesota: 2 yrs, $20M
AboveLegit replied to The Regime's topic in Minnesota Timberwolves Team Forum
I can understand why they want to bring in AK47... they desperately need another wing after striking out on Batum and Derrick Williams is a terrible fit with Adelman. But, this is a horrid contract, especially since they had to give up a first rounder just to make all this happen. -
This is awesome.

It's hard to truly measure these two side by side because their playing styles are so different. McGrady always floated around the 45% fg range, while Wade has never dipped below that number in his career. Wade shot 20 FG's per game just once in his career, while McGrady consistently hit that number in his prime. But, McGrady played on some pretty poor Magic teams that were built around having two superstar players and then winded up only having one. If the circumstances were more in his favor, I think we'd be looking at this a lot differently because he was poised to have some historic playoff runs. The first two McGrady-led Rockets teams that had made the playoffs had series that went to 7 games against teams that have both won more than 50 games, so him losing the last two series shouldn't be looked as something that McGrady completely lost (mainly because both teams they played were good teams and it would be kind degrading to say that they only won the series because McGrady came up short, which is sort of what people imply nowadays). One thing that gets overlooked when discussing McGrady's legacy is that Yao never really was a great playoff performer during his brief career. I think that's important to note because on top of the general consensus that McGrady never had help, even his second fiddle struggled at times and faded into the background. I'll never forget that game 7 loss to the Jazz where Yao was eaten alive by Carlos Boozer. The one indictment I have of McGrady is when he lost to the Hornets in 2002. Other than that, there are far too many extenuating circumstances for it to make sense to pin the blame on him. Anyways, I'll give the slight edge to Wade based on his all around game (he's far more advanced defensively). '08-09 Wade was the closest I've seen to Jordan, even more so than '02-03 Tmac. But as I stated, if McGrady had the privilege of playing with more talented teams, this discussion would be a lot different.
