  1. A prime Paul Pierce was a very solid defender, while Ray was never more than a liability. I also believe he was the better all around offensive threat.
  2. I'm guessing you never read Olivers post.. http://www.otrbasketball.com/forums/topic/21199-pippen-bosh-is-half-a-player-jvg-a-jackass/page__view__findpost__p__241507 I repped RD's post because he brought up good points, but he's not valuing FG% as much as I think he should. Jordan did actually have to totally shoulder the load before Grant and Pippen got there. There's a poster or two here that seems to think that Pippen was there for Jordan's entire career when Pippen didn't come until Jordan's 4th season, and Pippen didn't even average 8 points per game that season, so the Pippen and Grant arguments that some people are using really can't be used when talking about the first 5 years of Jordan's career. And yes field goal percentage does have a lot to do with it when the players are scoring at the same clip. It shows that the player with the higher field goal percentage, while scoring the same amount of point, is going about it much more efficiently. The three point argument, holds no weight either. Just because a player can shoot the three pointer doesn't mean he always should, there's a thing about a good scorer knowing when to pick his spots. Bryant's a great volume scorer but he's not exactly an efficient scorer, whereas Jordan was probably one of the more efficient scorers of all time. Being a great offensive player isn't necessarily how many points you put up, but how you put up those points. Jordan knew his limitations and went with what worked, Bryant on the other tries to do a little too much most of the time.
  3. Kobe owning the reporter during his press conference was hilarious.
  4. http://www.basketball-reference.com/blog/?p=8847 Nick Young But it makes sense, everything he does involves him moving around screens or playing 1 on 1 ball...not to mention he's one of two players (Blatche being the other) that actually has the ability to create his own shot.
  5. I'll choose Williams simply because he's stated his desire to play in a more uptempo offense, and I'm sure he'd excel in it. Not to mention I don't trust Paul's health.
  6. East, Derrick Rose. Should be an exciting game.
  7. Yeah, which is why I would be very hesitant in trading for Melo when you can just get him in the offseason.
  8. I think you must play 2-3 years before you can obtain Bird rights, and I don't see D-Will being that desperate. Suns shot that offer down, they wanted Caron Butler, which we refused to give them... it's probably one of the biggest mistakes of the Ernie Grunfeld era. And I said I want a player to openly state that he wants to come to DC...
  9. I'm pretty sure you can't sign anyone in FA unless you actually have the cap space to do so. Hence why all of those teams traded away key pieces just to create space this past summer.
  10. How exactly are they supposed to acquire Deron with the new CBA if they are paying Melo and Amare roughly 40 million a year? Not to mention if this trade goes through with Denver, they won't have any trade assets left.
  11. http://www.nba.com/tntfantasydraft/index.html Who are you voting for?

  13. Well in Rd's defense, he did say: Free throw line dunks are done all of the time, not just in the NBA. He should've gotten a higher score on it, definitely, but not a 50. If he doesn't get a 50, he doesn't advance. I completely agree with him there. BFT and I talked about this earlier in the thread, the FT line dunk to me has just lost it's appeal because we see it almost every year. Serge probably did deserve a higher score, but not a 50. There's no creativity involved in it.
  14. Well I was simply referring to when you said: Especially for someone with such a length, it was clearly a great advantage for him to do these kinds of dunks. Maybe I'm misinterpreting what you said, but it sounded like you were discrediting McGee just because he has an elite wingspan. And I know you grew up watching the legends in the dunk contests, so I understand why you believe these dunks were not as impressive. Sorry we can't be as old as you gramps. :glasses: It's not that anyone is upset, but I think it's just the fact that Blake got a little too much hype and fan support than he deserved. I think we are all happy with the overall outcome of the event, and it's that the dunk contest is finally back.
  15. If that's the case, shouldn't we also discredit Serge Ibaka because he's so tall and has a taller wingspan than most players that have attempted the FT line dunk? And let's not forget, during his two ball dunk, he didn't even look at the ball in his left hand because he was concentrating on catching the ball with his right and dunking that in. There's very few players in the league today that can do that, I think it was Reggie Miller that said he doesn't know anyone that can do what JaVale did. Not even Dwight Howard. And that reverse cradle was great even if it was done before. He had to avoid hitting his head on the backboard, had to contort his body and swing his arm in an almost impossible way just to dunk the ball in. http://cdn0.sbnation.com/imported_assets/658381/gyi0063594783_medium.jpg If the judges were still voting, I'm sure it would get a 50.
  16. Ohio state falls again, crazy game, Purdue played great. E'Twuan Moore was unstoppable.
  17. Oh come on now Oliver, those dunks were not only never done before, but were extremely difficult. The one where he dunked in with two balls he had all of his momentum going towards the second basket, and had to extend his arms in order to dunk the other ball in. Not only that, but he's throwing one ball off the backboard and catching it with one hand, that involves some serious concentration. And his cradle dunk in the final round was amazing, for a guy that tall to do something like that, is crazy.
  18. That was probably one of the best dunks I have ever seen. Iggy got robbed big time.
  19. http://www.nba.com/wizards/video/2011/02/20/SOTJaValeMcGeepostdunkswebmov-1564431/index.html Here's the dunk he wanted to do: http://dc.sbnation.com/washington-wizards/2011/2/18/2001133/nba-slam-dunk-contest-2011-javale-mcgee
  20. Well he had a great first dunk in the final round, so I think with the three ball dunk he probably could have won. That would be two strong dunks to end the contest on, especially if the judges were to decide on the winner and not the fans.
  21. He was planning on saving the three ball dunk for last, but was forced to use it early on because Serge Ibaka had done the stuffed animal dunk which was much too similar to one of his ideas. That threw off his gameplan big time, and had to think on the spot with his last dunk.
  22. Yeah I'm still having a hard time believing this. You would think when Sloan left, that he'd be a little more happy being under an offense which he's most comfortable in, but now he's making matters much worse. I never expected this out of him, I've always respected D-Will and thought of him as a loyal guy.
  23. You just continue to throw out these random statements without backing them up at all. Come back to me when you have a legit argument to use...or when you actually see them play on a consistent basis.
  24. Agreed with most of what you said, but I think you're underrating his 360.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxHi87jagXM It doesn't look amazing at first, but after watching the replays, it's pretty sick.
