Football section banners and divisions?

Would definitely like this, make it happen B. -
I want Flip fired now. This guy is absolutely terrible. I've never been more discontent with a coach in my life. Nothing else to say now.

..but by your definition, Jordan should have won it because he was the best player in the league, right? Nash winning the MVP the first time was a joke. In no way was he more valuable than Dirk was to the Mavs that season, absolutely no way. And even without Amare the next year he won the award, Nash had Marion playing at a superstar level and a terrific supporting cast. They had the second best offense in the league and a very solid defense. We're talking about a guy who never was a top 5 player during his MVP years and was/is a complete liability on defense. And you don't know whether or not Rose can lead the Bulls farther than Nash did with the Suns those years. This is a kid who has never missed the playoffs and has the ability to dominate games when needed. And we know he can show up in the playoffs and compete with the best. How is Iverson winning it a disgrace? We're talking about a career season for one of the greatest guards in the history of this league. Not to mention he lead his team, very similar to LeBron when he won his 2 MVP's in Cleveland. Duncan to me was 3rd with Shaq being the close runner-up, but Iverson amazed me that year. He had a VERY good defensive center starting with Theo Ratliff until injury, and ending with Mutumbo who Ratliff was traded for after his injury. But what else was there??? Aaron McKie was solid, Eric Snow was not quite average and when you look at scoring support you really don't find much outside of Iverson. He carried that team to the Finals and I honestly believe that without him they would have been no higher than a mid-ranged lottery team. I credit Larry Brown a great deal for making it all work but all in all I have never seen a more single-player-dominated team in my 19 years of following the NBA who made the Finals other than Iverson's Sixers except for last year's Lebron dominated Cavs, and AI had the stronger regular season record. The MVP should come from one of the better teams in the league and to a player that really raised his game so that team could be one of the elite teams in the league. And there are special cases for each player, so being the best player or a top 5 player should have no barring on who should be named MVP. Between Kobe, Garnett, Shaq, and Duncan they've only won 5 MVP's and they've absolutely dominated a decade and a half in basketball. What does that tell you? Besides, was Nash really a top 5 player in 04-05? Garnett, Iverson, Kobe, Tmac, Duncan, and Dirk were all playing better than him.

The same reason why Steve Nash won the award twice, Charles won it over MJ in '93, and why Iverson won in 2001. They were all more valuable to their teams than their runner ups. I guess the Nash example isn't the best one out there since I too disagree with the award, but whatever. And the PG position is arguably the strongest in the league right now.

Melo deal falls through for NJ, DEN
AboveLegit replied to ChosenOne's topic in Denver Nuggets Team Forum
Now we will hear endless rumors about Melo possibly going to Chicago... Broussard: Sources say Nuggets have granted Chicago permission to talk to Melo Stein: Melo unsure of joining Chicago, afraid he won't be the main guy there. Woj: Melo thinking of staying in Denver after all... Bucher: Melo thinking of going to LA now Spears: Melo reportedly upset that Derrick Rose didn't text him asking for him to come to Chicago. Stephen A. Smith: Melo thinking of retiring and moving into a group home with KAH-WAH-MAY BROWN! -
I really don't think one award should be relative to the other. Here's the difference between MVP and All NBA First team though, one depicts how important you are to your team while the other clearly shows who the best guard is. I hope I'm making sense here... And let's all remember, even before Boozer came back from his injury (even when he was back he had some recovery to deal with), the Bulls were a top team in the East with a respectable 9-5 record (Lost to Boston by 5 in OT). Rose has been one major constant for that Bulls team, with Deng slowly progressing the last few weeks (he's benefitted tremendously since Carlos' return). I know his efficiency stats aren't exactly spectacular, but at the end of the day, he makes winning plays and has been fantastic in crunch time. I can live with some of the problems he has (lack of FTA, turnover prone, shoots too much at times) as long as they're winning. I say he deserves the hype he's getting this season. But as I've stated before in this thread, CP3 is having an outstanding season despite dealing with some lingering injuries. He's the second best defender amongst starting PG's and statistically is having a phenomenal year. And while the Hornets maintain a good enough record to keep him in the MVP discussion, I don't believe they will win more games than the Bulls. But I can understand why you didn't give the MVP to Rose, I don't think an MVP has ever been on the All NBA second team, I just wanted to point out it's logical...somewhat.

I was doing my homework when my brother told me Kobe was dominating in the third quarter, that's when I started watching. Luckily I was able to catch one of the million replays of the game later on. 55pts in a full game of regulation for Dwyane Wade ( 2nd best SG of the decade) would match his career high-single game scoring mark. Kobe Bryant went for 55pts in one half of NBA basketball... just 24 minutes. I just thought that needed to be said. About 3 weeks before this he scored 62 against the Mavs, who only went on to make the Finals that year, only he did it in three quarters and sat out the 4th altogether. In terms of dominant perimeter scorers, nothing tops Kobe in '06. I do think a case could be made that 62 points against the Mavs was just as, if not more impressive than his 81 point performance. The Lakers need almost every one of the points Kobe scored to win that game against the Raptors. In his 62 point performance against the Mavs the game was already over by the end of the 3rd. That Mavs team was far better of an opponent as well (went on to the Finals that year). It was just complete domination from the start. And I think if anyone were in Kobe's position, they would do the same if it was in their power. That team was garbage, Kobe got so frustrated with them, no one was capable of creating their own shot. I bet if Jordan had the power to take over a game like that when he was on the Wizards, he would've done so.

I just don't see it affecting our active posters that much, I still see you guys around posting, and since school has started for all of you, the activity still seems relatively similar.

Team forums in divisions (current) or in conferences?
AboveLegit replied to Real Deal's topic in Feedback and General Support
Prefer divisions over conferences, no point in changing it IMO. -
Just need to recruit, it really has nothing to do with college, I see a ton of you posting a fair amount over the past few days. We have a good group of active posters, a large group of posters who will stop by every now and then, but we need more posters overall to keep the activity on a consistent basis.. That's really been our biggest problem the last year or so.

AFC Championship: NY Jets @ Pittsburgh

Hope the Steelers win to piss of Ravens fans even more. -
Bingo, he was getting absolutely run off the floor by Wall on D yesterday and couldn't keep up with his dribble penetration. CP3 is on pace to be an all NBA first teamer and a 1st team all defensive player. There's a lot more to stats than per game numbers. He's playing less minutes and taking significantly less shots than Rose, Westbrook, or Williams. And how many PG's have recorded a season with a PER of 25 or higher? Paul is in that elite group, and is working on his third season. And of that elite group, how many play 1st team defense? And it's pretty clear to me that he's not even fully healthy...

1. Why do you fold under pressure? 2. When will you step up as a leader? 3. Thoughts on the 49ers moving forward after the Mike Singletary era? 4. How many more years till the 49ers compete for a Super Bowl? 5. Who's winning the Super Bowl this year? 6. If the Redskins have a better record than the 49ers next season, will you become my personal internet-slave? 7. If you can move to any place in the world, where would it be? 8. If you could take over OTR for one day,, what would you do? 9. Peyton Manning or Tom Brady, who's the better all time QB? 10. Is Dragic a good replacement for Nash when he retires or gets traded?

Yeah I think the plan is to stay put unless they're able to land Melo. They're looking to avoid large contracts in order to stay flexible over the summer, and with that, sign small pieces that will make them a stronger team (similar to what Chicago did this past offseason). They need a Center, but it's hard to find one that would work under Mike's system. It looks like Memphis will lock up Gasol after this season, so I don't see that fantasy becoming a reality. The prototypical center for this system is Varejao, but sadly his contract is not worth trading for.

What a great way to end the game, good team effort by Boston.
-
Dwight is really showing off some nice moves in the paint. He even had a nice bank shot from about 12 feet out.
-
Boston's defense has been terrible, Orlando is getting everything they want. Luckily their offense is clicking, Garnett is playing a great game.
-
Lol I love that guy. "Todays forecast, dark and cloudy, chance of driveby"

So many fouls called on the Celtics, but at least the refs are staying consistent. Celtics need to tighten it up on D.
