  1. The Pistons are such a mess. They are stuck in the worst position you can be in basketball, too good to draft a franchise player, but too bad to sniff the playoffs. Knight and Monroe are the only 2 pieces there worth keeping, and Knight being put in that light is generous. He has a lot to show still, but it sounds like he's a hard worker and is still young so he has time. Monroe is a stud though, definite keeper.
  2. I just don't see why Miami doesn't go after guys like Camby, Kwame Brown, Nazr, etc. Seems there are plenty of quality bigs out there, and I don't think Ray Allen is as much as an upgrade as everyone thinks. Is he a better player than Battier/Miller? Well Miller of course, but Battier is a better and more versatile defender (would Allen have been taking plays on KD?), and a very quality spot up shooter, which is 100% the role Allen will be relegated to. Do I think Allen is a bad fit? No, not at all. But he is absolutely the last thing the Heat need IMO. There are plenty of quality, big bodied centers the Heat should be focusing their attention on. Your logic is "yeah well Bosh worked at center, so we can get by on it", well why doesn't that logic apply to your shooters? Especially when they are the reason the Heat spanked OKC in that closeout game, as we all know. Would way rather see them use their 3M exception (or part of it) on a guy like Nazr, Hawes, Camby, etc. Instead, they are gonna waste it on Ray Allen, and then what? Pick up Diop, Battie, Magloire or some other stiff big man like they do every year?
  3. It would just be so dumb to potentially sacrifice a nearly guaranteed finals appearance because of financial reasons. Cross that bridge when you get there. People act like Harden is expiring this summer when he isn't. Besides, if they are going to deal someone off, it shouldn't be him, it should be Ibaka. If people think Harden is overrated, then what the hell is Ibaka? Are the Thunder supposed to just keep repeating this cycle everytime a player gets good? What happens in 3 years if Beal pans out? Trade him off? Stupid. If Harden and Ibaka are both going to be getting 8 figures a year, I would be choosing to give those 8 figures to Harden 10 times out of 10.
  4. 85% Toronto, 15% SAC, don't see why SAC would do it though unless Houston gives them a sweet ass deal. I'd be shocked if he was dealt, and it wasn't to Toronto though. I don't think he will be moved though, in the end.
  5. Seriously so hilarious/delusional. But hey, everytime I say that somehow this damn league manages to prove me wrong anyways.
  6. Really don't see the fit. Ray Allen is the last thing Miami needs. Battier and Chalmers proved these playoffs they are more than reliable enough as spot up shooters. Better off turning their attention to bigs, obviously.
  7. Dwight will sign here in 2013. Its the only logical ending to this whole fiasco, unless somehow he DOES force a trade to here or LA. EDIT: Here = Brooklyn. Not Toronto hah.
  8. Houston involved in a rumor for a superstar? what else is new. Why would Houston bother. A. I don't think they have the assets to pull it off to begin with. And B: they would basically be in the exact same position Orlando is right now with Dwight, a gutted roster that probably isn't ever going to win a championship.
  9. Remember last summer there were rumblings of a CP3-RW potential swap? Maybe not rumours, but suggestions, and it seemed, and could maybe today I guess depending on circumstances, plausible. So the question I am asking, would OKC be a better team with CP3 instead of Westbrook? Would they maybe have a rings on their fingers right now?
  10. Unless Dwight is coming your way, neither. Pau (probably) won't get the value in return to make it worth it, and there's no point trading Bynum without getting an upgrade in return. The only upgrade in the league at this point, pretty much, is Dwight. Sign/trade QUALITY role players. Trade a coming first for a solid role player. Fire your coach. Beg Phil Jackson to come back, or hire anyone who isn't offensively challenged. I am not in the trade Pau/Bynum camp, unless a team comes to you bent over already (it happens, see Monty Williams), which I don't see, or hope lol. Those 2 are LA's biggest advantage, or at least they were/should be. I just think you need to get too much back if you trade one of them to make it worth it, and I doubt a team gives LA all that they need, especially if it is Pau getting dealt. I think this team needs more tweaking than it does overhauling. Kobe needs to settle less, and if Bynum somehow learned how to pass out of the post it would obviously improve this team incredibly lol. LA does need a couple more shooters like you said, but Ron and Blake are very good spot up 3 point shooters, they need someone to get them open looks, I just don't know who that is. I'd like to see it be Bynum (I am sure many LAL fans would), but I think it has to be Kobe. I just don't watch the Lakers enough to know if he is capable of it. I just think hiring a coach who is a defensive specialist was one of the worst things this team could do after Phil left.
  11. You'd be surprised. The year Bosh put on like 10-15 lbs of muscle, the last year in Toronto, his jumper struggled at times, especially early in the year. Of course this was made up by how relentlessly he attacked the rim the first half the year, and was putting up borderline superstar numbers. But he was splitting free throws very often which wasn't customary of him at that time (shot mid 70% on his free throws first month when he was normally above 80 always). Obviously it wasn't a gigantic difference, but still a difference nonetheless. I don't see 10 lbs really helping Durant too much though. His frame pretty much lends him to being a wiry type of player. Sure it will help vs some players but against LBJ (the only one that matters) I don't see it helping. I think OKC has to just concede Durant won't be able to body LBJ by himself (no one in the NBA really can in a 7 game series at this point), and gameplan around it.
  12. I think he eventually needs to be able to have the offense run through him. Too often he seems un-involved in the offense when the ball is brought down for extended periods (due in large part to you know who). I think his ability to play off the ball is obviously great, and an undervalued asset at times, but I think he is a smarter player than Westbrook and has untapped potential as a playmaker (just under 4 apg these playoffs). The only way they can really work on this part of his game is to just do it. I think he is fine defensively. Just because he can't body up on a player that maybe 2-3 people can, doesn't mean he's a bad defender. Does he have room to improve? Of course, but just because he can't defend LBJ (who can, individually?), I don't think that makes his defense a major problem. I think where LeBron had glaring holes in his game (defense, shot, post game), Durant just needs time to continue to refine his game. Durant will never be better than the player LeBron has been the past few years, but he can still be an incredible player (already is), and best believe he is going to be putting in long days this summer, and I expect him to make a legitimate run at the MVP next year (not these farce runs fans have fabricated the last 2 years).
  13. I don't think Schenn really has much untapped potential left (at least compared to JVR), I see him as a 2nd pairing shut down defenseman in an ideal world. He will never be a powerplay player ever, and will probably never get any more than 30-35 points, if that. What he is, though, is a guy who will be a rock on the blue line, and a guy who fans will love come playoff time with good solid hits, and just solid play overall when on his game. When on his game, Schenn can make the first pass out of the zone and is positionally sound. One of the biggest problems in Toronto was our jackass coach insisted on playing an up and down style, and it really exposed him, that is the exact opposite of his style. He was often caught out of position often, pinched when he normally wouldn't, and was turning it over trying to rush the puck. I think the biggest thing that held Schenn back in Toronto was Ron Wilson disliked him, and we played a style opposite of what Schenn would thrive in. I think it was pretty clear his confidence was shot all year. I think JVR has potential to be the better player, but I think Schenn is a guy that every team needs, especially come playoff time. He won't be an easy player to play against for the next 5-10 years in the playoffs. I like the deal for us since we have a large number of D, both on the team and in the system, but Schenn is a player that I think fans are going to miss more than they do right now. If Schenn plays the way he can, similarly to his 3rd year, fans in Philly are going to love him. He's definitely got a bit of grit in his game I think you guys will love. I am personally very curious to see how JVR handles an increased role here in Toronto. He will probably play closer to 20 minutes here, presumably on our 2nd line. Hopefully he responds well and can give us 50 points or so this year. Also, not to mention, Schenn has a more favourable contract right now at 3.6M, which I think is very solid for him when he playing the way he can.
  14. I think its a good deal for both sides. I think Schenn got a bad rap in Toronto.
  15. I feel like Nash will be in Dallas if they miss out on Deron. I'd be shocked if they missed on Deron though. It is gonna take Brooklyn acquiring Dwight for Deron to not be wearing a Nets jersey. Is the Mavs situation perfect? Nope, but it is 1000x better than it is in Brooklyn, plus its his hometown. Cuban is the best owner in the world too so that helps, you know he is never gonna cheap out on putting talent around Deron like Utah did.
  16. In the gameboy games, the only way you could get Machoke to evolve into Machamp was through trading him.
  17. Why am I not surprised this worked in New York's favour....
  18. -lack of a position -lack of work put into his game, been the same player for 4 years now -shit attitude -literally no intangibles in his game -came into a poor situation at the start of his career, a team that wanted to win, most 2nd overall picks are allowed to struggle through and learn their first year or two. he wasn't, he was on a tight leash and I think it hurt him
  19. Pretty sure they said they were going to do the deal regardless. If I was PITT I'd have been looking for a top 6 winger (or potentially) along with another asset(s), but that's just me.
  20. People keep mentioning JVG but he clearly loves his role with ESPN. If he didn't, he'd currently be coaching. But if there was a team that was going to lure him, you have to imagine it'd be OKC.
  21. Why would they? He probably has 1, maybe 2 years left in the tank. Its not like they are getting killed right now with a ton of salary either.
