Jerryd with a chance to start, if he can produce like he did in the time he got minutes at the end of last year, well let's just say that could make things interesting. clutch injury though, more losses please. -
Do you happen to play hockey? If you do, and are unimpressed by the skill it takes to make that move, well then you must be a pretty terrific hockey player. Datsyuk's was better, but that was an amazing goal.

He did the Datsyuk.

Antawn Jamison was a 21 ppg player when Washington originally dealt him to Cleveland... they got one first round pick from the top tanked team in the league. Obviously Pau is better than Jamison, but I think you have the bar set really high for what you are going to get back for him, too high, and if he is dealt, either LA is going to fleece someone, or you are going to be disappointed. Like I have said before, I think a player like Pau is more valuable to the team he is on than other teams. If Pau's value was high, don't you think he would be gone by now? Dude isn't getting any younger, has a heart 3 sizes to small, and makes franchise player money... all of that equals teams not lining up to ship the farm out for him. If I am the Lakers, I just hold onto him, which I think is likeliest since LA seems like a pretty stingy team in trades.

Bargnani Expected To Return This Weekend
Check my Stats replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in Toronto Raptors Team Forum
Dammit. We needed to lose more in his absence. it is both annoying and encouraging that we are a .500 team in the handful of games he has played... but we need a top 5 pick... hopefully after getting boned last year in the lottery we will get the balls to bounce in our favour this year (Lol yeah right). -
Most players draft from 1 school in same year?
Check my Stats replied to Need4Sheed's topic in General NBA Discussion
The 2007 Draft marked the first time three players drafted in the top 10 came from the same school: the University of Florida. Florida, the 2007 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Basketball champion, tied the record set by the University of Connecticut in 2006 with five players selected in the first two rounds of an NBA draft. Florida joined nine other schools, including Connecticut, that had five players selected in an NBA draft, second only to UNLV, which had six players selected in the eight-round 1977 Draft Now everyone +1 my rep. -
Why would Houston completely gut their team for Pau, who is marginally better than Scola at this point? Scola was an 18 and 8 big man last year shooting over 50%. LA would be lucky to get Martin OR Scola along with another decent piece for Pau. If I am LA, I am trying my heart out to convince Kahn that Williams doesn't have a future there with Pekovic and Love up front, and Beasley being the same player but with a tenth of the value.

I think a trade proposal forum could be pretty fun/cool. People post hypothetical trades (feasible hopefully) and people give their thoughts on it. Basically an indirect way for people to evaluate players, and their value. I thought of this from the hockey forum HFBoards that has a trade rumors and proposals forum. Here is a copy of the rules and some examples can be found in that forum too: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=6654 Iunno, I think it might be a decent way to boost activity if people got behind it. For example I could go in there right now if we had one and post a Proposal entitled Lakers-Rockets and say Kevin Martin+Dalembert for Pau Gasol and get everyone's thoughts on that deal, talk about why it is a good or shit deal, etc, and we could all argue why Kevin Martin is garbage. People can also post "value of" topics, where they post the players name and people say what they are worth in a trade. Didn't know where to post this so I stuck it here.

Houston trying to land Pau Gasol today

Really, LA should be trying to include Mike Brown in any trades they make at the deadline. -

Pau is more valuable to LA than any other team I think. It would be interesting to see what sort of deal they would swing. You would think LA would want another big back, along with either a point guard or a wing/small forward. What is curious for me is who the key piece would be: a big, or a wing? In other words, I imagine the deal is either surrounding Kevin Martin or Luis Scola (which wouldn't make much sense to me for either team, but who else is there?). Maybe LA likes Dragic, but I don't see him as a guy you deal Pau for (obviously there'd be more on Houston's end, but still), especially since they could probably nab him in the summer for the MLE or a part of it. What would LA/HOU fans think about Martin+Dalembert for Pau? Maybe Houston sweetens it with a protected first or Terrence/Patterson/Hill/Dragic. I actually think Martin would be a really nice fit in LA (and I am a huge Martin hater), and you could get away with him at the 3 (or Kobe there) if you get another competent defensive big to go along with Bynum. I think that is a nice deal that could make both teams better. I haven't heard any rumblings about potential deals so I am just spitballing this all out on my own, haven't really been paying much attention to the Pau situation because I didn't really think he would go, but Houston might be a better trading partner than I originally had thought. -
Dwight, Kobe, Corey Maggette, Gilbert Arenas, Ricky Davis, Zach Randolph on the Jailblazers, etc. I don't think anyone can top Allen Iverson though... his career is over because how selfish he is. Also, I think it is important to note that selfishness extends beyond just how many shots you take/miss - it's a characteristic, not a stat.

Triano and Nash Re-Joining Canada Basketball?
Check my Stats replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in International Basketball
Triano never should have been replaced in the first place, especially not by a God damn colour commentator. The future is definitely exciting for Canada basketball though, it is going to be real fun watching these kids go through college and hopefully become real good players, and one day put this jersey on. Nash as a figurehead at the very least would be a major step in the right direction. -
Josh Smith Demands Trade
Check my Stats replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in Atlanta Hawks Team Forum
I would absolutely love to see the Raptors make a play for him either now or in the off-season. On a side note, how big of a mess is this Hawks team now? A couple years ago they looked awesome and definitely on the rise. A couple young studs in Josh Smith and Al Horford, a guy who people still thought would be competent in Marvin, a budding star in Joe Johnson, seemed like they were a competent point away from being special.. now it looks like they are going nowhere fast. -
Demar getting back on track?
Check my Stats replied to Check my Stats's topic in Toronto Raptors Team Forum
19.8 over his last 15 games. 47% from the field, 3 boards and 2.4 assists, and taking 6 free throws a game. Like I said, haven't been able to catch a lot of games because I get next to no channels here, but from the stats and comments, it sounds like he is starting to look like the player from last year, and his defense seems like it is getting better as well (though still not that good). Then numbers obviously aren't great, but encouraging when you consider just how bad he was at the start of the year. -
I like to think I am a pretty open minded person, but god damn.... the way the man dresses is pretty suspect too.

Drafting: Talent Available or Team Needs?
Check my Stats replied to Mentch's topic in General NBA Discussion
Always take the best player available. You can always move that other player who plays the same spot (or the player drafted) to plug that hole later. I don't care if you have a 24 year old Kobe Bryant on your team, if you can draft Dwyane Wade you do it (for example). -
Grabo re-signed for 5 years 27.5M. Don't like it, but it is probably as much, if not less, than what he would probably get on the open market after teams miss out on Parise. Hopefully Grabo can be a yearly 60 point player or so, in which case I will be content with the deal I guess. I think if you give him some better linemates he can be a real solid number 2 C in this league.

Now that is what a full 60 minutes of hockey looks like. Been a while since we have gotten to witness it.
