It would definitely be an opportunity for the NHL to try and showcase their product and give fans with nothing to watch, something to watch, though I don't think they'd really be able to grab that many fans. I really don't think the NBA will lock out, they might lock out for a bit but there will definitely still be a season even if it is shortened. The NHL missed an entire season because the entire CBA needed to be overhauled, the NBA's only needs to be adjusted. Make no mistake about it though the players are going to get worked over in these negotiations. But to answer the question, if the NBA locks out, I will try and follow the Maple Leafs more closely. I still watch them and support them, just not like the Raptors. The Raps at least have their own pick to look forward to, the Leafs are so horribly positioned it just sucks lol, but if there is no NBA I have no choice. I think I'd watch more college ball as well.

NHL playoffs because they are the best and you never know what will happen, unlike the NBA where things usually don't get interesting until the conference finals or 2nd round.

This team needs defenders and smart and reliable role players more than anything.

Which team do you like better? I didn't really provide a specific year for the Pistons because I wasn't really following far outside the Raps at the time, so I don't really know which team was them at their best (I figure it was their title team but I could be wrong, that's why I left it open). But anyways, which team do you think is better in comparison?

All of them have a skill set to remain effective until they retire. They are all crafty, they can all shoot, and they are all smart players. If I had to pick one it'd probably be Nash. All the other guys can be at the least spot up shooters until they retire, and Nash has the heaviest work load by far in Phoenix. It is really quite amazing he continues to do what he does at his age and with how much offensive responsibility the team puts on him. All these guys are still a ways from being retired though, especially Kobe and Dirk.

Well this is really the first time since I've been a die-hard fan that we haven't had that one thing to cling to, that one player we can look at and say 'at least we have him'. Right now the closest thing we have to that is Demar, but we need to remain realistic about his upside, I love Demar and hype him up all the time but he still has a lot of obvious limitations, though his strings of 20 point games with his limited offensive arsenal is very encouraging. He could definitely be a legitimate offensive option and a good player for us moving forward, but he can't be our best offensive player. Bargnani is one of the main reasons I almost hate this team because he basically encompasses what is wrong with it, he is so one dimensional and while he is really solid at what he is good at, scoring, he is also terrible at what he is bad at, the defensive side of the ball. I can't explain how happy I'd be if he was gone, even if we just waived him. He is like the 1 remaining piece from the failed half-decade with Bosh. But honestly, while I am in a similar boat to you in missing a lot of games (though a lot of this has to do with school and the amount of games on TSN2 SN1) this is the most excited I've been about the team in a while. Even though we are trash, it just feels like a fresh start. For once we aren't making lateral band-aid fix moves to appease Chris Bosh, we are building long term. It does sucks that this draft is pretty weak, but drafting in the top 5 it looks like we could still nab someone really good. Like I said before, I'd sell my soul for real if we could get first pick and get Irving. If we can draft a franchise player, or close to it, (I have no idea if there is one in this draft) we have a better supporting cast in place for that player than I think Bosh ever had, and probably VC too. It just feels like to me we have a lot of the supporting pieces in place like secondary offensive options in Bargs and Demar, a player who looks like he can be a defensive anchor (by Raptor team standards at least) for us in Davis, and a couple solid pieces in Bayless and Amir. We aren't the Thunder in terms of our position, or even the Kings, but we also aren't the Pistons. The future of this franchise really feels like it is hanging on this draft. The draft lotto will be the most nervous I have been in regards to the Raptors in a very long time, probably since the Nets playoff series. While I try and remain realistic about our team moving forward, I still reserve some optimism. I like what we have in Demar, Davis, Amir and Bayless, but we definitely need something good out of this draft. A couple ping pong balls bouncing our way gives us one of the nicer futures in the league, but if we wind up picking in the mid-lotto, things will remain relatively bleak. EDIT: I also definitely think we are tanking right now. We are giving run to some of the [expletive]tiest players I've seen since Solomon and Ukic.

If anyone hasn't been watching you just missed a borderline 5-star match between Edge and Dolph Ziggler. Edge wound up winning using the killswitch (yes, Christian's finisher!). Unreal match though.

People don't see Toronto and think of winter and arctic cold (not all players at least). They think of Toronto and think of 16 years of existence and once in the 2nd round, and like 15 playoff wins all time (if that, I have no idea). In terms of what we have now, Demar Derozan is the only player I see with any offensive upside to be a quality offensive player for us. He looks like he will be a surefire 20 point player, he needs to learn to do take care of the ball, defend and do the little things, but he is putting up 20 point games with ease right now without even having a jumper outside of the mid range, which is extremely encouraging. Amir Johnson and Ed Davis are also both quality pieces, with Ed Davis being the brighter of the two. He looks like a really sweet defensive player and could be our best defensive player by the end of the year lol. He just really seems to get it. Amir is the perfect role playing big man when he isn't in foul trouble. Outside of those three we don't really have any young players worth noting unless you count Bargnani, which I certainly don't. The players were currently have are pretty mediocre, but if we get some lotto luck the future certainly gets a lot brighter. Derozan, Davis and Irving/Perry/Terrence looks a lot better than what we have now. It's hard to really say how bright our future is when there is still so much uncertainty with our pick. EDIT: Completely forgot about Bayless. A lot of people have given up on this kid but I definitely think he can help us out moving forward. I like his game, he needs minutes to develop. Games like the other night show that he has talent, he just needs to develop his point guard skills if he wants to be a starter in this league. So basically, our future is Demar, Davis, Bayless, Amir and our top pick. Bargs is whatever, I want him gone.
