Celtics expected to reduce Pierce's minutes

Doc said this all last year and it never happened. As a result, Pierce played like he was 38 sans a few games. We'll see. -
Pistons Turned Down Prince-For-Boozer
NoneOtherThan... replied to The Goods's topic in Detroit Pistons Team Forum
Not understanding Dumars lately. Prince is extremely overrated and I bet Pistons fans would agree. When's the last time you've seen him lock down someone after 2004? When's the last time you've seen him perform well when his team needed him to? Boozer is so much more talented than Prince, it isn't even close. Even while having a potential problem position wise with CV/Boozer, you have to take a deal as lop-sided as that one. Rip could fetch them a good center to play along side Boozer. -
What's so bad about Zach Randolph?
NoneOtherThan... replied to Multi-Billionaire's topic in General NBA Discussion
I haven't watched him aside from playing against the Celtics, but I never got the impression that he was some horrible, black hole type of player. It's as if one person said it and everyone else jumped on board. My only real gripe with him is that he shoots too many jumpers, especially since he has shown something resembling a low post game when I've watched him. I think he just needs to go to the right team. He only looks bad because he's been trying to lead young/bad teams. He would be good as a 3rd or maybe even 2nd guy on a team of veterans and if Thabeet's defense translates to the NBA, Randolph might make an impact on that Grizzlies team. -
Big 3 sent to recruit Rasheed & Grant Hill
NoneOtherThan... replied to magicbalala245's topic in Boston Celtics Team Forum
No, Sheed won't start. It makes no sense to bring a guy like Perk off the bench. He would be better served playing with the starters in order to mask his scoring deficiencies. Anyone calling him a scrub simply doesn't watch the Celtics and only follows stats. He is just as important to our defense as KG is. -
Same difference. No point guard is stopping an opposing guard every time down the floor. It's just not possible. Rondo probably prevents opposing guards from getting into the late/getting an easy shot up better than any other 1 though. I'm starting to wonder if you just hate Rondo? Because it's clear you don't watch him. If so, cool, we all have the NBA players that we don't like.
-
He's not a good defender because he gets torched from time to time? Lol. It is not easy for point guards to defend each other. Most of these guys are quick, but not quick enough laterally to keep up with a point guard who is (most likely) fast as hell. How they recover after initially getting burned is most important and I'm pretty sure Rondo is one of the best in that sense.

Sorry kind of late on this I read it. It was easy for me to get the year you were referring to mixed up, since you tried to actually tell me that Rondo didn't do anything when he was our best player damn near all season, let alone in the playoffs. Because of that, I assumed you meant our championship year right away. My mistake. We agree to disagree. Pierce is our best offensive player and that's where it stops. Again, Rondo manages future hall of famers while chipping in his own efficient scoring. He does exactly what a championship team needs him to do at age 23. That's a leader. Never, ever, have I saw someone mention that Chris Paul is the best defender at the 1 spot. The only reasonable explanation to me was that you thinking about the steals he gets. Sorry brah, Rondo is clearly a better defender than Paul

What if I think Wade is the best shooting guard in the league?

Marbury Wants To Re-Sign With Celtics
NoneOtherThan... replied to The Goods's topic in Boston Celtics Team Forum
Good news for us. Marbury played surprisingly good defense on 2 guards last season. The only gripe I had with him was his shot being so horrible, but I guess not playing for damn near 2 years will do that to you. If he gets that shot back this off-season, he'll be amazing off the bench for us. -
Wade is better than Carmelo, but Melo can do almost everything you listed for Wade. Melo is easily a better shooter, whether we are talking mid range, 3PT or FT. Melo has always been able to slash and he stepped up his play making and defense a lot this past year, though Wade is better than him at all of that. Let us not sell Melo short to big up Wade. Carmelo is an elite player himself.

House was pretty damn good for us this year. It's gonna hurt a bit to lose him -
Rasheed Wallace Could Be a Celtic
NoneOtherThan... replied to The Artesticle's topic in Boston Celtics Team Forum
They say this about every player who is a bit off the wall and yet chemistry is never a problem. Hmm... Why won't he fit in? We have been dying for big man depth all season long. Perkins doesn't have a true back up right now and both Powe and Davis are extremely undersized. Sheed, although washed up, will provide better defense and rebounding than those two and will surely get more minutes than either Powe or Davis. I don't even have to mention the extra spacing he'd give Pierce and Rondo. -
Rasheed Wallace Could Be a Celtic
NoneOtherThan... replied to The Artesticle's topic in Boston Celtics Team Forum
Tanguay should be punched if this isn't true. I'm willing to admit that 'Sheed is washed up, but would be damn amazing off the bench for us. -
Wow, surprised by that choice to say the least. Vince Carter is quite clearly the better player to me. The only problem the Magic have are depth issues, assuming that they cannot re-sign Hedo or bring in a guy like Sheed.

Paul is probably the best off the ball. You aren't watching if you think he's the best defender at the 1 though. I didn't say that Rondo's assist numbers equaled leadership, but you have contradicted yourself twice with that point. You most likely said that Paul was the best defender simply because his steals per game. Allen Iverson was also a great gambler. In no way does that make them a great defender. You also cite scoring as if that's a leadership quality. If that's the case, Jason Kidd was never a leader, right? I find it funny that you brought up Rondo the season before this past one and not this year. Of course you wouldn't bring up this year, since he was clearly the leader of our playoff run. It would be much more convenient for you to knock him for the year before this year, especially when he averaged a triple double for most of the playoffs this past year. How is a point guard's rebounding just taking away from his teammates? Again I bring up Jason Kidd. Kidd is so valuable because as soon as he rebounds he can spark a fast break out of nothing. Rondo plays similar to Kidd in that way. Are you seriously going to argue that a point guard rebounding isn't valuable with that fact in mind? EDIT: excuse that whole middle part, I misunderstood what you were saying. The point still stands. Rondo was CLEARLY the best player for us in the playoffs, how could you not see that? Paul Pierce and Ray Allen were atrocious.

I don't expect you to know since you aren't a Celtics fan, but the "attitude problem" that all of these trade rumors cite are from his previous years at Kentucky and early years with the Celtics, not from this past season. I'm not sure where people get the idea that they want to ship him out because of an attitude problem. Lol at people actually believing that Ainge wants to move a young stud because he arrived late to a playoff game. Danny Ainge has said it himself many times on WEEI that Rondo isn't going to be traded and surely not because of attitude "problems." That would be dumb. No way were the Celtics actually close to dealing Rondo. Ainge was just doing his job, trying to sell high after buying low. That is what good GMs attempt to do. What about what Rondo does on the court? Shouldn't we be discussing that? If that is all you have, then you don't have very much. Wasn't Devin Harris rumored to go to the Kings for their 1st rounder in the draft? Oh well, to each their own with that one I guess. I didn't say Harris was a bad defender. Rondo is the best defender at the 1 right now though. I put breakout season in quotation because I'm not sure what he did qualified as a breakout. I just wanted to point out the fact that Davis' improvement had a lot to with Rondo (as well as developing a better jumper). Rondo effectively manages hall of fame players night in and night out, as well as chipping in his own efficient scoring and playing the best defense you can ask from a 1. That IS leadership, point blank period.

One dimensional in what way? The kid isn't just a shooter offensively. He can handle the ball, is a decent passer, can slash and he doesn't even need the rock to get his. He is excellent on and off the ball. I'm afraid that the Warriors might ruin his career, the kid has potential for days IMO. He would have been better served playing with Antoni and the Knicks
-
Interesting. May I ask what you mean by "one of the best?" Also, what makes you think that Rondo cannot get any better?
-
Don't like the disrespecting of Curry. Dick V shares my opinion that Curry is clearly the 2nd best player in the draft. This talk about his body is getting ridiculous. Too many times have short/skinny guards got knocked on while coming into the league, only to then prove everyone wrong. 1) Clippers - Blake Griffin (10) 2) Grizzlies - Hasheem Thabeet (1) 3) Thunder - James Harden (7) 4) Kings - Tyreke Evans (8) 5) Timberwolves - Ricky Rubio (3) 6) Timberwolves - Jonny Flynn (6) 7) Warriors - Stephen Curry (9) 8) Knicks - Jordan Hill (2) 9) Raptors - DeMar DeRozan (4) 10) Bucks - Brandon Jennings (5)

For starters, Chris Paul and Deron are in a class of their own. Rondo does need to learn how to shoot, true. What else can you knock him for though? Nothing really. Harris cannot be the better overall player when he all he does is score better (which is due to having a jump shot). Rondo is a better passer, defender, rebounder and he slashes just as well. I'm not going to choose one. I think it's ridiculous to think that Harris is leaps and bounds over Rondo though. Both are really good at what their teams need them to do and even though I believe Rondo is the better overall player, Harris' superior scoring ability obviously makes it close. Also, what exactly do you mean by leadership, because I find it crazy that you don't believe he has any leadership skills. I'd say any 23 year old guard that can manage hall of fame players is clearly a leader. Ray Allen's super efficient season, as well as Glen Davis' "breakout" while starting are soley due to rondo. Imagine this kid in a fast break offense/in a situation where he didn't have Paul Pierce or Kevin Garnett stopping the ball to create on their own. Damn.

Draft grades: Evaluating every team
NoneOtherThan... replied to The Goods's topic in NBA Draft History
According to that list, everyone drafted well. I've only watched the top prospects this past year so it's hard to comment, but I doubt that EVERY team had a good draft.
