Finals GM2: Dallas at Miami (MIA 1-0)
Poe replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in Miami Heat Team Forum
They are superstars. They have the ability to take unusually difficult shots and still make them. It's what separates them from the rest. However, the Heat need to minimize the number of situations where those shots are needed. They are not as efficient obviously, and a lot of times, even Wade and LeBron might not make them. Like at the end of this game. -
I PMed RD already. And I also PMed him months ago regarding how this guy follows me around and makes personal comments about me. I don't think he does it just to me, either. So what does RD do? Turn him into a staff member? So I would presume that he changed. But no, he continues to do the same thing. Follows me in half the threads I create or post in, and makes a personal comment about me. And que in the cry face by him because I might have hinted some annoyance in this post.

I brought it up once and you replied. It was a mere observation. -

It's still a factor. If the offensive rebounding is even, that's 5 less shots for the Mavericks. Every minute, every possession of the game is crucial, and equally as important. The Heat played bad late in the quarter, but played well early in the quarter. Last game I pointed out Wade's 10 rebounds, who outrebounded the opposing team's shooting guards by 7. This game he outrebounded them by 1. Like I said last game, it's something people very often overlook. And Kidd had 8 rebounds while Bibby had 1 and Chalmers had 0. The guard play on the boards is important, especially this series. -

Mavs with 11 offensive rebounds. The Heat with 6. -

Did Carlisle just put Barea, Terry, and Kidd on the floor... at the same time!? Doesn't he know that LeBron and Wade are two of the best rebounding wings in the league? I don't think the Mavericks grabbed a single rebound with that line up, and the Heat blew the lead wide open. Dumbest coaching move of the series, IMO. -

Not many offensive rebounds grabbed by either team this game. I wonder if it will be the team that wins on the boards that will win the game. -

Margin of victory options include 3-7 and 10+... Got something against 8 and 9? The Mavs that need to play better are Terry defensively and on the boards, and Stevenson on the boards. Wade is the most difficult match up for the Mavs. It's crucial that the players against him overperform. -
Stay on topic please mr. staff member. Edit: BUT if you must know my opinion on feminism (and you got me thinking about it so I might as well write my thoughts down), I do not believe woman should be treated equally by default - because people are not equal. The special thing about being a human being is that we are all different. A fat, deformed person should not be given an equal opportunity to become a model. A grown woman should not be in a boxing match with a grown man, unless she is somehow SO physically gifted that she can keep up with the superior strength of professional male boxers, which is statistically unlikely for any woman to achieve even among billions of people worldwide. However, no person should be treated as lesser than by default. There are many countries where women are hardly treated as human beings, perhaps even in most countries, and are generally given zero opportunity to achieve. I do not believe in this mentality. I also do not believe it should be more difficult for a woman to achieve in something that women can measurably do AS WELL as (or perhaps even better than) men. For now, this is a reality in America. Though it has evolved to a better place than in the past.

Three questions: 1: Will there ever be a female head coach? 2a: If so, how soon? Between 1-5 years? Or maybe 10-20? Unpredictable? 2b: If not, is it because it is viewed as too much of a risk due to male basketball player egos, or due to negative media attention? OR is it because you believe a great basketball mind cannot exist in a woman? A different reason perhaps? 3: Who is currently the best suited woman to coach the NBA? Pat Summitt? Nancy Lieberman? Someone else?

Kareem writes open letter to Pippen about LeBron, Jordan
Poe replied to AboveLegit's topic in General NBA Discussion
"Who" is not the question, but "why". "Why care" should be your question. Depending on your intentions, though. My answer to the why: because averaging 10 points over 20 seasons will give you as many total points as averaging 20 points over 10 seasons. It does not answer who was the better player. It only, perhaps, points to a player's longevity. Jordan retired twice. LeBron may not even be halfway through his own career. -
Dirk scored efficiently. 27 points, .58 TS%. Whatever the Heat do, Dirk will score in volume and effectiveness. He's that good. In terms of trying to take Dirk out of the game, I think what the Heat should focus on is simply to keep Dirk from taking shots. Do what you can to keep him from catching it, and force the ball out of his hands whenever he does... ...which is what the Heat HAVE been doing, or at least trying to do. Attacking him on the other end, meaning forcing Dirk to defend, can help fatigue him a bit and also (ideally) force him into foul trouble. The Heat have been doing that as well, but there's only so much you can do against a guy like him. Unlike Rose, Dirk IS a superstar-level scorer. But the Heat have two of them.

Turnovers were even. The Heat out-rebounded the Mavs and matched their three-ball. The Heat made an unusual amount from downtown. Even though the Mavs zoned, I'm not sure how likely that is to happen again. Both teams shot poorly from 2. If threes aren't as kind for Miami the next game, I'd say it will be more important to get better looks around the basket. More specifically, Bosh needs to find a way to increase his efficiency (18 shots, 12 free throws for 19 points). One consistent factor the Heat will have, and something many overlook. At the SG position, Wade grabbed 10 rebounds in 38 minutes. DeShawn and Jet grabbed 3 rebounds combined in 47 minutes.

I wouldn't doubt that Dirk will still find a way to be affective.

Kareem writes open letter to Pippen about LeBron, Jordan
Poe replied to AboveLegit's topic in General NBA Discussion
What? Their rebounding percentages (the percentage of available rebounds grabbed) were the SAME as today. So why did they grab more rebounds? Players missed more shots. They were supposed to grab 20. He is the all time leading scorer because he played the second most all time amount of career games (behind Robert Parish, a career 15 PPG scorer). -
Kareem writes open letter to Pippen about LeBron, Jordan
Poe replied to AboveLegit's topic in General NBA Discussion
Also, championships are a TEAM accomplishment. I'm pretty sure LeBron figured this out after seven years in Cleveland. HE didn't win championships because his TEAM wasn't good enough. That's why he joined forces with Wade and Bosh. BTW, I'm not trying to say LeBron is better than MJ (or vise versa), or that either are the GOAT. It's just that Kareem's argument is awfully flawed and doesn't prove anything. Coming from a Hall-of-Famer? It's outright sad. -

Wilt and Russell were able to grab 20 rebounds because players missed more shots back then. So I advise that Kareem does HIS homework before writing an open letter. -
