Who would you rather have, Kobe and Lebron or MJ and Pippin
Poe replied to reno's topic in Player Comparisons
Umm... yea, 4 rings DEFINITELY ain't a whole lot. And, LeBron is, what, 24 years old? And how old did MJ win his first? -
Maybe you just got hurt, but healthy enough to still be able to play in limited minutes.
-
I agree.

The level many Christians submit themselves to by closing off any argument that suggests their religion as false. If Christians were so confident that their religion is true, then they would openly explore all arguments against it, since they would have nothing to fear.
-
Yea, but making a statement saying that nobody can change your mind no matter what closes yourself to opposing arguments, which really isn't the right way to attack a problem. Just saying. It's probably true, though, that the only way to prove a religion as true is if the supreme being they always speak of shows itself. But, of course, God works in mysterious ways, right?
-
Don't sink to the Christian level of "nothing you say can denounce my faith". At least be open minded enough to entertain the idea of a god, but not convinced until given proof.

? Diaw and Raja were traded for J-Rich..

1. For some reason, religious people think that just because you can't answer a question, that somehow makes religion or God a liable answer. Just because you don't know something doesn't mean you can pull up an old book and claim it as a liable source, since it doesn't support itself with any kind of proof other than claiming it's influenced by a divine being - when it's really just the ideas of people long ago trying to create an answer for questions that they didn't have the scientific means of answering at the period of time of which it was made. Look, when the Bible was written, people thought the Earth was flat and the Sun literally rose and set, among many other things we would consider to be crazy nonesense today (why? because nobody had the scientific research to show otherwise). Then big evil scientists came along in around the 1500s, and with observations using new technology (telescopes), they discovered the Earth is in fact round and it spins and revolves around the Sun, explaining the appearance from the Earth's perspective that the Sun rises and sets. It took quite some time, about couple hundred years for religious people to finally accept this claim, just like the evolution vs creationism "argument" we're having today. 2. If there is some sort of meaning or purpose to life and existence, we simply haven't discovered it yet. Back to my previous point about the bible, it's just a book of old ideas. There is not a single point made that I have seen there to prove to me otherwise. Age and popularity don't count. 3. Hitler didn't kill the Jews in the name of atheism. Just because the person who did these horrific things happened to be atheist, doesn't mean it was the sole purpose of being a nonbeliever. As far as I know, none of these people killed in the name of their disbelief in a god (if that even makes any sense in the first place). But you can't say the same thing about religious leaders, like when it comes to most wars that take place, it's almost always in the name of each others' God. George Bush said that God told him to invade Iraq. There is a difference. 4. You can't take away what you have done in the past. This is reality. It's sad, the truth hurts, but the idea that you can do away your previous wrongs by clasping your hands together and acknowledging what you've done to an imaginary being is just disillusional, even if it is comforting to some. I think it's far better to cope with your problems than the religious easy-fix. Praying doesn't change reality. 5. So religion, as in Christianity, is the basis for morality? Did you know that in the "good book" we call the Bible God instructs over 2 million deaths plus 65 cities destroyed without their inhabitants recorded? Plus there are many fishy stories in there as well. Just watch this video for a small taste: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ODeI1u-0bg You have to be absurd to believe this book is the bases for the difference between right and wrong. Other than all the crazy things in it, just like laws, the scriptures are man made. 6. I can't answer the first part of this one. I've never wanted any kind of "spirituality", or had the feeling of being unfulfilled or empty. I doubt most atheists have, either, unless they are depressed or something. But, lastly, the "how" from the "why". The Myth that somehow science and religion are separate studies that show two different parts of life (other than reality from delusion). Science is the study on life. It's all done through observations and experiments and no conclusion is accepted until proven. Religion, on the other hand, is accepted by many without question, and passed on to children before they are old enough to be skeptical about it. Even if science didn't or couldn't answer the "why" question, that still doesn't make man made scripture from the past a liable source. At all.

Well, it turns out I beat the Celtics the next four games, making it a 4-1 series. It seems like I'll be facing Billups and Melo in the Finals (yea, they beat the Lakers..). If I was able to beat the Celtics, I guess the Nuggets shouldn't be too much of an issue. Looks like I could be leading the Heat to their 2nd Championship ..well, maybe with a little help from Wade..

If they kept their top coach as well, that team would own. Not sure if it's good enough for a championship, but it would be such an exciting team to watch.
-
It constantly amazes me how people think the Bible is actually a credible source, especially over so many years of scientific research.

Brook Lopez for Heat.

Argh. Lost my first game against the Celtics. The Celtics started off hot and ended the first quarter 19-9. By the end of the 2nd qtr I got my team back a little closer at 30-23. The 2nd half my team was slowly catching up. Towards the end of the game, it was 56-50. I give the ball up to Wade and he hits a 3 pointer. 56-53, 26 seconds left. Rondo dribble it up, I deflect his pass to Peirce and get the steal, dribble it up and score the fastbreak bucket. 56-55. I foul Rondo to get him to the FT line, he hits both free throws, the Heat call time out with about 10 seconds left in the game. 58-55. They inbound to me, Wade is closely covered by Pierce with Allen close by. I give the ball up to Chalmers, he shoots the 3 and..... bricks. ARGH I finished the game with 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-1 FT), 11 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 TO.

Well, I got pretty far into the game, now. I got all-rookie first team and my clone got second team (I guess I'm just that good ). I also got the ROY award, even though I only averaged 10 points, 7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game (my clone messed up my averages, though... It says I played like 120 games, so its been combining me and my clone games together). I lead my Heat to the 6th seed against the Nets (no idea how they made it to 3rd seed, haha). They were pretty easy to beat. Won 4-2. I then played the Hawks in the second round. Beat them in a grueling 7 game series. I did this all last night. Once I started a series, I just felt the need to finish it and win, haha. Now I'm about to play the Celtics....

The best answer for a question like this is "I don't know". Scientific methods are the best way to approach a problem like this. Using a 2000 old book where its passages were voted in by Kings and Priests does NOT count as proof.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNy6ziOyxoA I think George Carlin explains the atheist point of view just about perfectly.
-
Wrong. Although I never read the Bible cover to cover, I spent most of my early school years (Kindergarten through 3rd grade) in a religious school, so I know just about as much as the average Christian. I believed in God at the time... but then again, I also believe in Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy.

Saying that the world is beautiful only proves that the world is beautiful (if you ignore things like wars, starvation, cruelty, disease, natural disasters, extinction, etc. etc.). Please, there is no connection between a pretty planet and some sort of all powerful invisible old man in the sky. Give me some means to where I can use my senses to acknowledge this being (like actually being able to see him, touch, smell... at least something of the sort) or the slightest trace of evidence, and then I'll believe.

Boston - 3 - It's too bland for me. The colors don't look disgusting or anything at least. New Jersey - 2 - The White looks just sort of OK, and the Red/Pink is awful. New York - 6 - The Blue and Black looks good, and the White is OK. Philly - 3 - First one looks alright, the second one is plain ugly. Toronto - 8 - First one is decent, second one is pretty cool, and the black ones look just awesome. Edit: Changed NJ's rating thanks to Universe's new piece of info.

My guess is a higher shot in traffic should help, and maybe a better strength rating or low post rating (which wouldn't make sense since it's more of a high post, although a better post rating gives you more/better moves to choose from). It could also be how your posting up. I haven't taken the time to really learn too much about posting up, though. I noticed in drill mode that shimmies and pump fakes can change how the opponent defends, and then you figure out which way to do the turn-around depending on where there is more space.

It won't affect Chalmers' playing time. Riles and Spoe are actually hoping he'll be capable of up to 36 minutes each game. Arroyo is a good signing and gives the Heat more depth at the point, giving Wade room to stick to his position. I think Arroyo's signing is more of a safety if Quinn or Chalmers gets injured. I hope Quinn has improved his defense, cause his capabilities on offense are underrated. He takes great care of the ball, sees the floor well, and is the highest percentage 3 shooter of the team last year (I think). He doesn't always finish well, but he can penetrate at times, and opens things up for his teammates. I'm hoping that Chalmers will rise further from his performance last year. I've heard good things about his work ethic and improvement running the point during the off season. His ability to steal the ball already makes a strong defensive back court duo with Wade. Hopefully his playmaking skills have improved enough to where Wade isn't relied on to handle the ball on as many possessions this year.

Trevor looked pretty good statistically against the Raptors: 18 points in 12 shots, while dishing out four assists. Maybe he's beginning to come together into his role.

Bah, couldn't find the Heat anywhere. I bookmarked it, anyways. Thanks.
