Caron Butler stops drinking soda
Poe replied to Warren2ThaG's topic in Washington Wizards Team Forum
True. I've never really thought about it, though, since I don't drink it... often. Maybe once a month at the most. Not that I'm trying to stay away from it at all, it's just that I don't like it that much, and caffeine never really gives me much of a boost for some reason. -
Iverson says Griz made offer Tuesday
Poe replied to La Bomba's topic in Memphis Grizzlies Team Forum
Iverson, Mayo, Gay, Randolph.. Well good luck, Grizzlies fans. This is going to be a LONG season for you guys. -
Even without Yao and Artest, they are still a pretty good defensive squad, overall. Ariza may prove to be a rising scorer in this league, as a first option I'm expecting somewhere around 17 - 22 ppg from him. Scola is an underrated offensive player and I think he's capable of stepping his game up while Yao is gone. Battier will continue to be their "Kobe-stopper", and I think we'll see some more improvements from Brooks at the point. When you look at it simply, yea, they lost a few big stars, but then again, T-Mac has never really proven himself as a positive asset to the teams he has been on in the past, and the Rockets proved that they can still have their ups without Yao when they beat the Lakers in games 4 and 6. With no big names on the team this year, they still have some pieces left that can make a somewhat solid team, and they have an excellent coach that can fit those pieces together. I think they'll turn out just find this year, somewhere above .500.

Caron Butler stops drinking soda
Poe replied to Warren2ThaG's topic in Washington Wizards Team Forum
I always thought of soda as just a different tasting drink. I never knew it was possible for it to be addicting. -
Compete, 41 - 50, Trevor They aren't as bad as everyone is making them out to be.

Shaq, because he helped the Heat get a championship.

OTRBasketball Roundtable: As The Season Nears
Poe replied to Real Deal's topic in General NBA Discussion
Good questions, good answers, good read. For me it's: 1. A tie between San Antonio and Toronto. The Spurs are Finals contenders again, and Toronto should improve to becoming a solid playoff team. 2. I'm not too familiar with the rookie PGs, but based from what I read - Ricky Rubio 3. Wade will stay with the Heat (at least, I hope), and LeBron.. I honestly have no idea. He could wind up in Europe for all I can tell. 4. Kobe vs Wade 5. Lakers vs Celtics. LeBron + Shaq won't work out well, Orlando will not be as good as last year, and the only other teams that will be close to contending in the East will be Toronto, Chicago, Miami, Indiana, and perhaps Charlotte. As long as the Celtics remain healthy, I see no reason why they wouldn't make the Finals. As for the Lakers, they have a dynasty in lock. I expect at least a couple more titles in a row from them. -
RJ, now and prime.

This is strange.. He has money and so much to look forward to for his future in the NBA. Hell, he makes a great living off of playing a sports game. What in the world does he have to be suicidal for? I don't really care about the pot at all... it's the depression and psychological issues that is concerning me. For anyone else in the NBA, I would be like "he is living the high life and he's still mad stressed? [expletive] him". I'm a Heat fan, though. This is going to affect my team.

Okay Ron Ron, it'll be your 3rd game of the reg season. Even if the best guy you can guard will be Trevor, let's see it. You and your man better combine for 0 that game.

We'll see about that.

Gordan makes big shots but he also gives them up on the other end. In my opinion, he is very overrated, and I think the Bulls are better off without him.

Experts: Magic Aren't Team To Beat In East
Poe replied to The Goods's topic in Orlando Magic Team Forum
The Magic won't be back at the NBA Finals without their best player. -
Cavs. They had the best home record last year, and they've had nothing but upgrades made to that squad this year.
-
For some reason, I can't see them being that bad of a team next year. As ridiculous as it might sound, I honestly think they could have a shot at the playoffs this year.
-
I used to be a bit of Kings fan when I was younger. I can't say that I still like them, though, since they are a completely different team now. Different player, different style, different coach... The only player to stay since their golden days is Bobby Jackson, but I think he's gone now, too.

At the time, the Heat's lineup before the draft was: Quinn - Wade - Marion - Haslem - Anthony. The Heat managed to bring in a solid defensive rookie PG in Chalmers, and a future all star PF in Beasley. At first Spoe tried starting both Haslem and Beasley together, but that turned out to create matchup problems on the defensive end, especially since Beasley hasn't learned to play good NBA Defense yet. This is why they traded Marion for Moon and O'Neal, so that the team could have a legit center, and Moon could replace Marion and be the temporary starter while Jones and Wright were injured. Redoing the draft, I think the best move would to have gotten Lopez along with Chalmers, rather than getting Mayo and diminishing Chalmers' development and adjustment to the pro level. Instead of focusing on one player, the Heat have two players to develop (like they are doing now with Beasley), while everyone can still play their natural position.

Wow, I said that some of the SUNS FANS think the team is better off without Nash, not ME. And I also said that the Suns would only be A BIT worse without Amare, while OTHER PEOPLE think the team would have the worst record in the league. Read more carefully.
-
Sarcasm. Suns fans think the team is better off without Nash, and people think the Suns are the worst team in the league without Amare. They'd be worse than before, but not by that much.

Hey, chill out. Both of them are solid players that get the job done. Regardless of whether Varejao flops or is making defensive plays out of pure hustle, either way he is making a positive impact for his team. He wouldn't ever be in the starting line up if he wasn't being productive. As far as this whole thing about "chemistry" goes, Varejao is very good at moving without the ball, and LeBron passes with such great precision that if the defender leaves the smallest amount of space, Varejao gets an easy lay up. On the other hand, Wade draws a lot of attention when he has the ball and is so quick driving to the basket, and since Haslem is active setting screens and has enough awareness to always be in the right place at the right time, he normally winds up with getting wide open mid-range J's all game long. I find to believe anyone would think that two guys that have been on the same team together for over 6 years now and have been on the starting lineup together for at least 350 games to not have good chemistry. There's a chance that they may spend the rest of their career on the same team. I would personally take Haslem between the two, but I guess that is to be expected since I'm a Heat fan.

Yep, and without Nash, you'd be 80-2, right?
-
Two great role players, IMO. Who's better?

Two 32-year-old PGs that went to New York as All Stars and came out as cancerus scrubs. Who's better?
