Boston Trading for Both Jamison & Butler?
Poe replied to Jammin's topic in Boston Celtics Team Forum
You know them better than me, so maybe you're right. I was just recognizing it as a possibility, and I forgot about Antawn winning sixth man. There would still be on-court issues, though. Maybe not due to egos and other chemistry issues, but just having the wrong mix of player abilities. -
Boston Trading for Both Jamison & Butler?

Garnett, Pierce, and Allen are still starting, and all of them are averaging close to their career minutes, except for Garnett who has dealt with injury issues. As long as they are winning and getting reasonable minutes, they are willing to compete for the prime goal. As for Wallace, he was bound to get reduction in his playing time regardless, and actually, the bench role seems to have affected his game. Last year Wallace averaged 32.2 mpg and 10.9 shots attempted per game, 4.8 from three. This year, he's averaging 23.7 mpg yet 9.3 shots attempted per game, 4.6 from three. Even if it's due to strategy from Doc in contrast to Perkins banging in the post, Wallace is still getting roughly the same amount of shots he had in Detroit last year, which wasn't too far off from his 12.5 shot attempts per game career average in 33.4 minutes. -

And what if their minutes are lowered? Or even forced to coming off the bench? Some players say that they have a team-mindset, but that's not always the case. -

Boston Trading for Both Jamison & Butler?

How is this a good trade for Boston? Jamison is too slow to guard SFs like LeBron James, and Peirce is too slow to guard Dwyane Wade... or ANY guard in the league for that matter. Sure, this team could have a decent enough record to stay near the top, but man will they get killed come playoff time. Damn, you know, I'd LOVE the Heat to play this team, actually. Possible chemistry problems, too many scorers for too little shots, less perimeter defense, and no shooters to fit perfectly into Miami's no-layups-allowed defense. For the Heat's perspective, I welcome this trade. -

Jamison has too high of an ego to be willing to come off the bench. It's either he starts and gets his 40mpg, or you'll be getting some real chemistry issues, or else you can just deal with a frontcourt of KG and Jamison. Other than minutes, I don't see how this works. Butler can't replace what Ray Allen brings. With Rondo running the point, and a big man with range limited to mid, and a center who can't shoot, you need a guy other than Peirce who can knock down those threes and space the floor. That's what Ray Allen does, and he's one of the greatest shooters of all time. In case you didn't notice, Caron Butler is only shooting 26% from the 3 point arc this year. Again, Jamison is not going to be able to co-exist with such a defensive-minded team, and the fact that his minutes will be eaten by the bench will bring his ego a little further to the front. The talent level increases, but the level of the players will decrease. Everything will be clogged in the middle on offense, and the defensive intensity will decrease by at least 20% as long as Jamison is on the floor. Really, it's simply best to keep the core that brought this Celtics team their championship the first time. -

The ASG isn't about strategy. It's about the top NBA players getting recognized and watching the best go out and have fun. It's supposed to just be a good show. It doesn't matter who wins. -

I don't think there are any feuds going on necessarily, just a lack of the same enthusiasm this team had originally when they were on their way to their first championship. That's all they meant when they said there are locker room problems. Other than that, age is a factor, though not completely a problem. They still have another shot at it this year. Trading away the core that brought them their first championship isn't going to move them any closer towards it. This summer will probably be the best time to start making deals, but not now. Players need time to build chemistry. -

What's there not to know? You put a ball in a basket :o On a serious note, you can't just look at the talent level of players, slap them together and call it a great team. The game is played between the lines. The players on the Celtics' roster compliment each other very well as is. Butler isn't going to space the floor the way Allen did, and Jamison isn't going to be nearly as good of a defensive duo with Garnett as Perkins, plus I have doubts on Garnett's and Jamison's co-existing ability. Also, how is there going to be any room to split playing time between Garnett, Jamison, Perkins, and Wallace? -

I don't understand. Je ne comprends pas. The Celtics have everything they need for a successful year and a possible look at the NBA Finals. The only thing they are even missing, really, is a legit back up PG and a true lockdown perimeter defender, yet that isn't even what this particular deal is about. -

Bad deal for both teams... unless Butler becomes a 3 point shooter, Jamison learns to play defense, and Brian Scalabrine turns into a 20 and 10 monster. -
Miami Heat's Michael Beasley does not want to be traded Source I can understand why. He's been through a lot here in Miami. After watching him grow for the past couple years, I'd hate to see him go. He's become one of my favorite players on the team. Also, More info about the possible trade Source By the sounds of it, Riley is doing everything he can to try to snag Amar'e from the Suns. The Suns, however, don't sound interested in any of the offers, which is strange to me, actually. Wouldn't they want to solidify a future around Dragic and Beasley? Give both players a year or so, and it could turn out to be like their next Nash and Stoudemire. ------------------------------------------------- Anyway, personally, I'm only for this trade if Beasley includes Richardson's expiring contract. Wright and O'Neal just don't fit to me. O'Neal because 1) his contract is too large and would require the Suns to send a number of players to match it, and 2) the Heat need a center at least for defensive purposes, and Amar'e is both undisciplined on defense and doesn't match up well against most centers, and 3) if Amar'e starts at center, then Haslem starts at PF, then the Heat won't have any quality back ups unless the Suns have one their willing to offer in the trade. And Wright because 1) he's better than Q-Rich (not just a personal assumption, but from PER as well) and would be a great compliment to this team at the starting job if Q were included in the deal instead, and 2) Wright could be more important to this team's future if he chooses to resign, and 3) he's been in Miami for a long time (6 years) - most of the Heat fanbase wouldn't be in favor of seeing him leave (as well as Beasley of course, though Beas would be a requirement to be included for a deal to be made).

The best PF in the league should have started regardless. -
^ Still. Shaq's career numbers are better than any point in Dwight's career.
-
1. LeBron James 2. Kevin Durant 3. Carmello Anthony 4. Gerald Wallace 5. Paul Peirce

So... what about Global "Warming".
-
Quoting realgm... It says "expiring contracts like Jermaine O'Neal". Quentin Richardson is another pretty large expiring contract. Anyway, we'll see what happens with this, if it even happens at all.
-
The Heat will have at least 9 or 10 free agent signing contracts anyway if they don't make a trade. With the ideal trade scenario of Jones, Q, and Beasley for Amare, that will make 11 with Daequan Cook as the ONLY guaranteed contract left on the entire team. The players I mentioned all have some sort of direct or indirect connection to the Heat, except for Marcus Camby, who I put in there just because he's such an ideal option. Other center FAs include Tyson Chandler, Joel Przybilla, Ben Wallace, Kurt Thomas, and Brandon Haywood. I feel Marcus Camby would be the best option because he's a player who contributes in the gaps the Heat will need filled in having three stars, and he's potentially a cheap pick up.
-
Sure, Amare and Wade will get their money. Perhaps that will lessen the chances of getting Joe Johnson as well, and that's actually fine with me if the Heat manage to get a guy like T-Mac instead, who I firmly believe is still capable of being a prolific scorer and would score roughly 20 ppg for the Heat. I don't mind if T-Mac will need the ball in his hands to make plays. Wade can do plenty himself without the ball, and he's always wanted a guy in the perimeter who can take some pressure off of him, which is why he urged Riley to get OJ Mayo in the draft. I wouldn't want Jermaine to return anyway, and I don't mind that. If you have Wade, T-Mac, and Amare on the same team, there won't be enough touches for him. With those three guys, that will peak the interest of veteran role players in the late stages of their career like Marcus Camby, who would be in charge of the dirty work while the stars stuff the stats. With those three stars, all they need is a non-ball-dominant PG. Steve Blake will definitely be available with the PG overload in Portland. I'd be way more than satisfied with a starting line up of: Steve Blake Dwyane Wade Tracy McGrady Amar'e Stoudemire Marcus Camby Also, doesn't Chalmers have a team option? He could be useful off the bench if he gets his head straightened out. If not, I'm sure Alston has a good chance of staying for cheap. Thing about Haslem and Wright is that I fear they could leave either way. Haslem is very loyal, but there are also many areas to his game that he hasn't been put in a position to display, since he's so dedicated to being that "dirty work" guy for the Heat. If he could leave for more money and a better role, he might do it. Hopefully the chance at a championship, and possibly playing with an old friend (Steve Blake), could perhaps convince him otherwise. Wright is showing more and more of his upside by the day. He may leave for a team that will maximize his talents, sort of like what Ariza did with LA, though I believe Wright actually has all star capabilities. If Q-Rich leaves, that may also take away some loyalty he has with the Heat team. So, anyway, basically what I'm saying is that the Heat roster after 2010 is still in question whether this move is made or not, yet they could remain with enough room to bring some solid role-playing pieces to put around Wade and Stoudemire to create a championship caliber squad, even if it doesn't include a huge name.

I don't think any D League teams would possibly be 1 game behind the 8th seed at this point in the NBA season. Edit: nevermind. I actually didn't notice the empty seats at first.
-
I believe that, too. Even if he was available, I still doubt that he'd come to Miami. He's got a great situation going for him in Toronto, and hasn't shown much signs of wanting to leave. I think that the three biggest names (Wade, Bron, and Bosh) will all wind up staying that their respective teams this summer.

If it's on TV, of course it is.

Amare + Joe Johnson > Beasley + Amare OR Bosh Not that the individual talents equal greater value, but I'd rather of have two good players who play different positions than two players with the exact same skillset who score in the same areas. Wade is a combo guard, Joe Johnson is a versatile wing player, and Amare is a versatile big. Much better group to compliment each others' game. And I'm just using Joe Johnson as an example. T-Mac or Rudy Gay would also be valuable assets from the free agent market.
