  1. I wouldn't be thrilled about it. Don't get me wrong, Lee is a nice player. He is a great rebounder, a good finisher around the rim and has become a very good mid range shooter as well. When he first came into the league I never thought that he would be anything more than a hustle big man who gives you energy off of the bench, but he has definitely developed into a fairly skilled big man. The reason why I wouldn't be too excited about acquiring David Lee in a sign and trade is because of the fact that the Raptors would be commiting long term to a front court of Andrea Bargnani/David Lee/Hedo Turkoglu. That would be without a doubt the worst defensive front court in the NBA and they would just be eaten alive night in and night out. If the Raptors had a Kendrick Perkins type of center then I would love Lee, but since Bargnani isn't going anywhere, I would absolutely hate the idea of having that frontcourt make $10M+ for the next 4 years. I would rather the Raptors get a package of Curry/Gallo for Bosh. Curry sucks but he would at least expire after next season. Gallinari would give the Raptors another cheap, young asset on the roster. He won't do anything to help the Raptors defensive or rebounding issues, but at least he has some potential. With that said, there is absolutely no way that I expect Gallinari to be traded considerig how much D'Antoni loves him. Out of the teams mentioned, I would rank the possible sign and trade scenarios as followed: 1) Lakers - Bynum 2) Heat - Beasley 3) Knicks - Lee 4) Bulls - Deng The only reason why I have Beasley ahead of Lee is because of the fact that he is younger and has more upside (which is greatly overrated as far as I am concerned). To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't be thrilled about any of these scenarios other than the potential of a healthy Bynum. I'm sure that Bosh will consider other teams as not listening to all of his options would just be stupid, but I also think that given the choice, one of the 4 teams that were originally mentioned have to be his first choice. Bosh is a media-savy guy (althoug he has done a lot of stupid things over the past month to draw attention to himself) and he knows that there is a very realistic chance that a team like Miami or Chicago may go after Amare instead of him or the Knicks go in a different direction. I think the "other team" are just a case of him having a fallback plan in case one of his first options don't work out.
  2. Measurements were released earlier. I'm not going to post them all out like I did above because that would take way too long, but here is the link: http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draft-measurements/
  3. Here are two Tweets from Bruce Arthur adding to the story: Oklahoma City? I never really bought the OKC talk, but I could be wrong here, like I am often. I can't really think of any other teams that he would be interested in. Maybe Orlando to play with his buddy Dwight? It is a long shot, I know, but a possibility? Him and Dwight would be an absolutely scary front court and would compliment each other amazingly well. EDIT: I forgot about the possibility of it being New Jersey. If James were to go there, it would Make sense to see Bosh consider there as well.
  4. Bosh - About $30M. Team - Chris Bosh. It is literally that simple. Bosh won't leave $30M on the table, especially considering his knees and the fact that unlike LeBron James, he will never see a max contract again, so if he goes anywhere it will be through a sign and trade. There is only one thing that will shock me this summer, and that is that Bosh leaves Toronto without it being in a sign and trade scenario.
  5. http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/16104/source-amares-return-to-suns-unlikely What a terrible time for this story to come out for the Suns. Instead of having to deal with this offseason garbage surrounding Stoudemire, they should be worrying about trying to come back from an 0-2 hole against the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. I know that the team will try to put this behind them, but you know that they are going to be asked about this. Plus, Stoudemire has played crappy enough during the series. Now add this into the mix and the fact that it may do even more to take Amare off of his game, and it really hurts the Suns even more. Not that I am surprised or anything because I didn't really think that Amare would stay in Phoenix past this year anyways.
  6. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5208043 Here is what Chad Ford put on his Twitter. I already knew that he wasn't going to go to Dallas, and despite the fact that so many people on here thought he would go to Oklahoma City, I knew that he wouldn't go there either. I never really thought he would go to San Antonio either, but it sucks to hear that he doesn't want to go to Houston. Houston may not have been able to offer the absolute best package for him, at least the Raptors would get some cheap, young assets (Hill and draft picks) while also getting Bosh out of the Eastern Conference. I'll post my thoughts on this later. I've got to go do some things first. I just wanted to post this here before I left. Update: Here are two Tweets from Bruce Arthur adding to the story: Update on the Update http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-heat/sfl-miami-heat-chris-bosh-s052110,0,4558949.story Bryan Colangelo Confirms http://www.thestar.com/sports/basketball/nba/raptors/article/812969--bosh-s-wish-list-bulls-lakers-heat-or-knicks
  7. Nothing really new as it is mainly about the players that we have talked about as realistic options for the Raptors to trade for in Andre Iguodala, Monta Ellis and Gilbert Arenas, but I figured I would post it anyways. http://www.tsn.ca/nba/story/?id=322219 Like I said above, nothing really ground-breaking as is basically the same players that we have speculated about for the past month. The only two players that I would want to see the Raptors go after would be Iguodala or Ellis though. Maybe make a run at Caron Butler but seeing him be a complete non-factor in the playoffs makes you wonder just how much he would bring to the team. I want absolutely no part of Hamilton, Maggette or Davis, unless it means the Raptors are moving their albatross contract in Hedo Turkoglu to pick up one of them. If Howard plays like he has in the past and is motivated, and cheap, he could be a good pickup, but I am sure that he would walk all over Triano, Colangelo and the Raptors. But yeah, the only moves I would support would be for Iguodala or Ellis, and even then, it would depend on how much the Raptors have to give up for them. Even with them and a re-signed Bosh this team is still nowhere close to contending for the NBA Championship.
  8. I figured I would move away from all of the draft discussion and go back to our favourite thing to discuss during the regular season; how much we hate Hedo Turkoglu. Here is an interview of him with for some Turkish media outlet: http://video.ntvmsnbc.com/hidayet-hic-mutlu-degilim.html This trasnlation was posted on RealGM. While some things can definitely be lost in translation when converting any language to English, but knowing Turkoglu and how much he whined and cried during the regular season about every little thing, I would not be surprised one bit to see this be a pretty accurate translation. The best thing about this whole situation is that Turkoglu said absolutely nothing during his year-end press conferences and now he runs to the Turkish media for him to make his complaints known, just like he did last season when he complained about Otis Smith "lowballing" him with his contract offer. If you are going to complain about, or call out, the situation that you are in, don't hide behind the Turkish media. Then there is this gem: I'm sure that Turkoglu's life was a complete hell. I mean, I know I would hate to be paid $10M for a half assed effort at my job and spend the rest of my time partying it up in Toronto. I couldn't imagine how hard that was for him. I swear, every time I hear I new interview from Turkoglu, my hate for him increases ten fold. I'm at the point where if he says one more thing, I want to see Colangelo just tell him to stay in Turkey because he will never play for the Raptors again. Pay him to stay in Turkey and shut up so that I never have to watch him play basketball or listen to him talk ever again. Update: Turkoglu Wants Out Of Toronto http://blogs.thescore.com/tbj/2010/05/28/hedo-turkoglu-i-do-not-want-to-go-back-to-toronto/
  9. And the final interview with Patrick Patterson. Patrick Patterson Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBU_iEe1RF0 Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9gxHaV4uAU Typo on my part. I accidently copied his standing reach instead of his verticle. His vert was measured as 37 ½. I'll edit that right now. I thought so as well, but that is what Chad Ford had posted on his blog. That wasn't a typo on my part.

  11. Here are some of the interviews that are posted on the DraftExpress Youtube Channel. John Wall Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNFdsR-Lbd8 Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VedDUrPLWVA Daniel Orton Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5p7jzcAIehE Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEa5FNZnmsM Evan Turner http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MySiHDuWx0
  12. I figured I would bump this thread for 2 reasons. Firstly, do you think that the Sixers moving up to 2nd in the draft, which probably means Evan Turner, makes Andre Iguodala any more available? Will the Sixers simply draft Turner and run with Turner at the 2 and Iggy at the 3 (which is probably his best position anyways)? Or will they pass on Turner and go for somebody like DeMarcus Cousins instead? I remember seeing an interview on another forum that made it seem like Stefanski is looking to move Iguodala after moving up in te draft. EDIT: Here is that interview I was talking about that was posted on another forum: http://610wip.cbslocal.com/2010/05/19/ike-and-howard-talk-with-sixers-gm-ed-stefanski-and-the-2nd-overall-pick/ I haven't actually listened to the interview myself as these specific quotes were posted on another forum. The poster who posted them is a pretty good poster though, so I trust that he isn't making up any BS or anything here. Secondly, there are more rumors floating around that the Raptors won't be keeping the pick for theirselves (due to them owing Miami a pick, they technically can't trade the pick but can use the pick on a player and then trade his rights). There is nothing concrete, but if two beat writers for Toronto (Eric Smith and Holly McKenzie), one of which has his paychecks signed by MLSE, are reporting this, you have to think that it is a very realistic possibility. Eric Smith http://www.nba.com/raptors/news/eric_smith_blog.html Holly McKenzie It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see the pick traded, especially considering Colangelo and MLSE's poor track record of drafting/trading away picks. To be perfectly honest, I would rather see the Raptors just blow it up and rebuild this franchise rather than make a desperate move to appease Bosh because, lets be realistic here, is Chris Bosh really capable of being the best player on a championship team without a 2004 Detroit Pistons type of roster? I'm not going to overreact though and won't throw Colangelo under the bus until I see what kind of player he would bring to the team (if he does in fact move the player he takes with this pick), but I have always been against the trading of draft picks unless you are a contending team, which Toronto is clearly not, so it would have to be a great move to make me happy. I just hate seeing draft picks traded because I strongly believe that you build your team through the draft, not through trades or free agency, especially a team like Toronto.
  13. I figured I would make a thread for us to talk about the Draft Combine that is taking place over the next few days. I know that the Combine isn't what it used to be as they have elminated the scrimmages and many of the top prospects don't really do much at the Combine (and this year is no exception to that), but I figured what the hell, might as well make a thread anyways. 14. I wouldn't mind Bledsoe, but if I had a choice between Bledose or Bradley I would go with Bradley as I think that Bradley fits in better with the Raptors. What I really want to see is the Raptors work out both Bradley and Bledsoe together at some point before the draft. It would be really interesting to see both of them work out against one another. As you can probably guess from reading this thread, Bradley is my number one choice for the Raptors, but I wouldn't be upset if the Raptors managed to draft a big with their 13th pick and acquired a later pick and took Bledsoe with it. Here are some combine results posted in a Chad Ford Insider blog: Craig Brackins Height: 6-8 ½ Height w/ Shoes: 6-9 ½ Weight: 226 Wingspan: 6-11 ½ Standing Reach: 9-0 Body Fat %: 8.4 Vertical (inches): 40 Lane Agility (s): 11.62 3/4 sprint (s): 3.69 Bench Press (reps): 8 Dwyane Collins Height: 6-6 ½ Height w/ Shoes 6-8 Weight: 230 Wingspan: 7-4- Standing Reach: 9-1 ½ Body Fat %: N/A Vertical (inches): 34 ½ Lane Agility (s): 12.22 3/4 sprint (s): 3.29 Bench Press (reps): 3.29 James Anderson Height: 6-4 ½ Height w/ Shoes 6-4 ½ Weight: 6-4 ½ Wingspan: 6-8 Standing Reach: 8-7 ½ Body Fat %: N/A Vertical (inches): 34 ½ Lane Agility (s): 11.62 3/4 sprint (s): 3.21 Bench Press (reps): 15 Stanley Robinson Height: 6-7 Height w/ Shoes 6-8 ½ Weight: 213 Wingspan: 7-0 Standing Reach: 8-11 Body Fat %: 10.1 Vertical (inches): 38 ½ Lane Agility (s): 12.36 3/4 sprint (s): 3.15 Bench Press (reps): 10 Devin Ebanks Height: 6-8 Height w/ Shoes 6-9 ½ Weight: 206 Wingspan: 6-9 Standing Reach: 8-10 Body Fat %: 9.7 Vertical (inches): 35 Lane Agility (s): 11.97 3/4 sprint (s): 3.53 Bench Press (reps): 6 Lance Stephenson Height: 6-4 ½ Height w/ Shoes 6-6 Weight: 227 Wingspan: 6-10 ½ Standing Reach: 8-6 ½ Body Fat %: 9.4 Vertical (inches): 35 ½ Lane Agility (s): 11.67 3/4 sprint (s): 3.28 Bench Press (reps): N/A Manny Harris Height: 6-3 ½ Height w/ Shoes 6-5 Weight: 177 Wingspan: 6-8 Standing Reach: 8.4 Body Fat %: 7.4 Vertical (inches): 6-8 Lane Agility (s): 12.02 3/4 sprint (s): 3.22 Bench Press (reps): 10 Avery Bradley Height: 6-1 ½ Height w/ Shoes 6-3 Weight: 176 Wingspan: 6-7 Standing Reach: 8-3 ½ Body Fat %: 7.6 Vertical (inches): 37 ½ Lane Agility (s): 11.51 3/4 sprint (s): 3.03 Bench Press (reps): N/A
  15. Couple of things: First off, the NBA Pre-Draft Camp is getting underway tomorrow. Day 1 will be covered on Raptors TV, for those of you that have it (4PM Pacific Time, so 7PM Eastern). DraftExpress posted this on their Twitter: I'll definitely be tuning into it (don't know if I will watch the entire 4 hours on Raps TV) and I'll try to post my thoughts as much as possible. Secondly, apperantly Memphis is open to trading a pick in this years draft. As of right now they have 3 picks (12, 25 and 28) and are open to moving one, or all of these picks depending on what they can get in return. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2010/may/18/memphis-grizzlies-draw-no-12-pick-nba-lottery-wiza/ I would imagine that the 12 pick is out of the question (unless for some reason the Grizzlies like Calderon or something like that) but much like earlier when we heard that Atlanta is opening to moving their pick, I would definitely like to see Colangelo and MLSE try and acquire one of the Grizzlies later picks in the draft. However, it seems like the Grizzlies are more interested in acquiring players instead of money for these picks, which could be a bit of a problem because, like I said above, unless they like Calderon I don't really see the Raptors having much to offer (I think Colangelo will try to move Calderon before Jack). I wouldn't mind seeing something like Bradley at 13, get a later pick (whether it is from Memphis, Atlanta or Minnesoate) and grab somebody like Kevin Seraphin or Soloman Alabi. It is basically the same idea I had earlier, but you take the guard first (as Bradley is the guy I want the most) and then take one of the late 1st round bigs.
  16. ^^^ How sick is that block he has at about 47 seconds into that mix? I remember watching that a week or so ago and was just blown away by it. That was a huge block. Very impressive from Bradley. One thing that I found interesting is that you are hearing a lot of talk about Bradley in regards to the Raptors, much like you heard to much talk about DeRozan last season. It ha to make you wonder if the Raptors have basically already made up their mind that Bradley is their guy if he still on the board at 13, much like DeRozan last season. Obviously things can change after workouts and such, but I thought it was an interesting note regardless, especially considering every year that Colangelo has had a draft pick since coming to Toronto, most Raptor fans knew who he was going to pick well before the draft. That is exactly what I was thinking as well. Considering the fact that players like Rondo and Holliday are still young and look like they will be with their respective teams for a long time, it is crucial to get a point guard who is at least able to contain them, rather than having seeing point guards in the Atlantic just completely run all over the Raptors for years to come. Even Harris is still a huge threat, despite his subpar season this year, and you definitely have to think that sooner or later the Knicks are going to try and bring in a point guard to run D'Antoni's offense. Take it even one step further and look outside of the division. The Raptors have to contend with players like Derrick Rose, Jameer Nelson and, now, John Wall in Washington as well. It makes it even more paramount to improve the defense from the point guard spot. One of the Raptors biggest weaknesses this season was providing absolutely no resistance at the point of attack and it is why teams were able to pick them apart so effortlessly all season long. When you can get into the center of the defense whenever you want, without any resistance at all, it puts way too much pressure on your defense. Bradley is impressing at workouts already, which I 100% expected him to do. http://www.draftexpress.com/article/West-Coast-Workout-Swing-Part-2-Joe-Abunassars-Impact-Basketball-3468/ There really isn't any new info in this as it basically verified what we already knew about Bradley (great defense, athletic, long, quick, good jumper, average finisher, lack of point guard skills etc...) but it is definitely nice to see him impressing so much during workouts. One thing that I really liked reading was hearing how Bradley performed so well with pick and roll situations and having great spacing on the floor, two things that the Raptors offense relies heavily upon. One thing that worries me is that he will impress too much during workouts and somebody like Indiana might grab him ahead of the Raptors. One thing the Raptors have going in their favour is that most of the teams ahead of them already have point guards with players like Flynn (and Rubio), Harris, Davis, Stuckey, Paul, Curry and Williams. Anyways, enough rambling on my part, just thought I would pass that information along. I have been on the Bradley bandwagon for a while now, but he has officially become my 100% first choice regardless of whether or not he may be considered a reach at 13 (which by the time the draft rolls around, I don't think he will be).
  17. They make perfect sense. Nobody is trying to say that winning the lottery is a negative or anything like that. We are simply pointing out the fact that sometimes the consensous number one pick doesn't always turn out to be the best player of that draft and when you look back in 5 years you are going to be happy that you landed the 2nd pick in the draft and were able to acquire Kevin Durant instead of getting the first pick in the draft and landing Greg Oden. Obviously you would rather have the 1st pick in any situation, but having the first pick doesn't always end up meaning you wind up with the best player of that class.
  18. To add to this post of yours, look no further than last season for another example where not having the ping pong balls bounce in your favour turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Sacramento was the worst team in the league and managed to fall all the way down to number 4. The Clippers won the lottery and obviously picked Blake Griffin, who missed his entire rookie season with knee problems. The Kings had to "settle" for Tyreke Evans at 4 and Evans just so happened to have had one of the best rookie seasons from a guard in a long time with 20/5/5 averages. Obviously the jury is still out on Griffin and it would be foolish to write him off as a bust just yet, but even if he does become what many people predicted him to be, is that a better player than what Evans has the potential to become? Also, you have Memphis moving up from 5th to 2nd where they picked Hasheem Thabeet who doesn't look like he will ever accomplish much in Memphis when if they would've stayed at 5 they could've possibly had somebody like Stephen Curry. Winning the lottery isn't always a curse and it can definitely be a blessing sometimes.
  19. David Stern is shown talking to Abe Polin's wife prior to the lottery and the Wizards win the 1st pick in the draft? Coincidence?
  20. They sure do drag this thing on and on and on and on and on... and on and on.... and on.
  21. According to Chad Ford, here is how each team would approach the draft if they win the 1st, 2nd or 3rd pick in the lottery today. New Jersey 1. John Wall 2. Evan Turner 3. Derrick Favors Minnesota 1. John Wall 2. Evan Turner 3. Wesley Johnson Sacramento 1. John Wall 2. Evan Turner 3. Derrick Favors Golden State 1. John Wall 2. Evan Turner 3. DeMarcus Cousins Washington Wizards 1. John Wall 2. Evan Turner 3. Derrick Favors Philadelphia 1. John Wall 2. Evan Turner 3. Derrick Favors Detroit 1. John Wall 2. Evan Turner 3. DeMarcus Cousins Los Angeles Clippers 1. John Wall 2. Evan Turner 3. Wesley Johnson Utah 1. John Wall 2. Evan Turner 3. Wesley Johnson Indiana 1. John Wall 2. Evan Turner 3. Derrick Favors New Orleans 1. John Wall 2. Evan Turner 3. Derrick Favors Memphis 1. John Wall 2. Evan Turner 3. Derrick Favors Toronto 1. John Wall 2. Evan Turner 3. Derrick Favors Houston 1. John Wall 2. Evan Turner 3. Derrick Favors It is an insider article, so I am just going to post his picks and not the reasoning behind his selection or anything like that. Just thought I would post this considering the lottery is later today.
  22. Sort of like how the rest of us have been hearing nothing but Wade + LeBron/Bosh/Amare/Boozer/Johnson and another star = dynasty over the past 6 months? Even if the Nets do drop to the third or fourth pick, I don't even think it will be all that bad to be honest with you. Yeah they miss out on the two best prospects in the draft in Wall and Turner, but the next two best players happen to be DeMarcus Cousins and Derrick Favors who both fit another need of the Nets, which is a power forward (especially Favors as I don't know how well Cousins and Lopez would play together). A lineup of: C: Lopez PF: Favors SF: James SG: Lee PG: Harris isn't all that bad either. Obviously they want Wall and their second choice would be Turner, but Favors fits in really well with this team and is hardly a bad option for the Nets.
  23. According to many different things that I have read and heard, Avery Bradley has been making his way up the draft rankings. Chad Ford has him now ranked 13th out of his top 100 prospects and there is a lot of speculation that he will move into the lottery after pre-draft workouts and things like that. So it looks like my ideal draft of picking up a center like Hassan Whiteside or Daniel Orton at 13 and buying a pick from Minnesota, Memphis or Atlanta and picking up Avery Bradley after might not be very realistic. I wouldn't mind seeing the Raptors take Bradley at 13 to be honest, assuming that he climbs up the rankings and improves his stock after workouts and such and players like Monroe, Udoh, Davis etc... don't fall to 13. I just think that he is a perfect fit with this team. A better scenario would be to trade down from 13 to a spot where Bradley would still be available and gain an extra pick or some other asset in the process. Here is an article from Raptors Republic talking about the Raptors drafting Avery Bradley at 13, which goes hand-in-hand with my post. http://raptorsrepublic.com/2010/05/16/big-board-raptors-leaning-towards-avery-bradley/ His top 5 rankings for the Raptors are: 1. Ekpe Udoh 2. Patrick Patterson 3. Avery Bradley 4. Gordon Hayward 5. Hassan Whiteside I definitely don't want to see the Raptors take Hayward. I fail to see the logic in taking a guy like Hayword, especially when you consider who else would be on the board at 13.
