  1. The Raptors play in the 4th quarter really did those tanking jerserys proud. A beautiful tanking job.

  3. For those of you Knick fans who didn't see the game, it was relatively close for most of the first 3 quarters. The Knicks got up double digits, the Raptors would close it to 6-8 points and things like that. It was a 9 point game heading into the 4th. The game was never really in doubt for New York, but they didn't look like they would run away with it either. However, during the 4th quarter (well, a lot of the game, but particularly in the 4th) they did an excellent drop of pressuring the Raptors and Calderon especially. They were picking up full court, throwing out half court traps, getting right up on him and things like that. They forced a bunch of turnovers and it always resulted in easy baskets at the other end. They were able to get consecutive turnovers, one on a Lin strip of Bargnani after Calderon had just passed him the ball at the top of the arc and another on Calderon himself) which led to back-to-back transition baskets and that basically iced the game for them. The lead went from 14 to 18 in less than a minute. The Raptors offense went stagnant (well, even more so than usual when Calderon is at the point) as the Knicks pressure didn't allow them to get into their sets until 10 seconds on the shot clock, the Knicks had the crowd going wild and that fueled them on the court. They went on an 11-2 (including those 4 points off the turnovers) over the next 2-3 minutes before emptying their bench as the lead grew to 20+. They also dominated Toronto inside. They finished with 16 offensive boards, scored 50 points in the paint and had a significant advantage in 2nd chance points (not sure of the exact number, but I believe they had 20+ more than the Raptors did, who only managed 3 offensive boards).
  4. Since the last update: Mar 7th: 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks in 28 minutes Mar 9th: 6 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block in 16 minutes Mar 13th: 6 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block in 28 minutes Mar 16th: 17 points, 14 rebounds, 3 blocks in 27 minutes Mar 20th: 14 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks (not sure how many minutes)
  5. Flynn maybe since he has actually shown something at the NBA level. He had an alright rookie season and then his injury riddled sophomore season really sent his career on a downward spiral. I wouldn't count on it, though, since he really wasn't all that special anyways. Thabeet? Dude is a bust and the only reason he is still in the league is because of him being a 2nd overall pick.
  6. Yeah, I wasn't even refering to them being a top team in the East or defending Stanley Cup Champions. Obviously I would love to have those things as well, but I was simply speaknig in terms of the style of play from that team. Sure guys like Lucic and Marchand may cross the line here and there, but I'd take that over players who are too soft to even win a puck battle in the corner. As for Burke, I'd give him one more year. His contract is up at the end of next season so I'd let him ride that final season out before making a decision on him one way or the other. However, despite that, I'd need to see significant improvement for me to keep him around past next season.
  7. What I wouldn't give to have a team like the Bruins in Toronto.
  8. http://espn.go.com/new-york/story/_/id/7709890/moe-harkless-leaving-st-john-red-storm-early-nba-draft I honestly think he is going to be a gigantic steal if he falls to the late 1st round. If a team gets him with a pick in the 20's, they are going to be very, very happy. Love his game.
  9. And just like that, he is back to the bench and Calderon will be the starter tomorrow against New York. I swear Calderon will be the starting point guard on this team even when he is 80 years old and needs a motorized scooter to get up and down the court.
  10. Excellent use of a 1st round pick by the Kings. Just another example of how poorly that franchise has been run over the past 10 years.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZGQJV8iHjk&feature=player_embedded Great documentary for anybody who hasn't already seen it.
  12. Well, there is one dumb turnover, althought it it too late for FSU.
  13. Turnovers killing Florida St. I could say I'm surprised, but I'm really not. They have been a huge problem for this team all season long.
  14. He actually has mentioned the possibility of staying if the Heels don't win a National Championship. He REALLY wants to win a National Championship. http://www.foxsportsflorida.com/02/16/12/Barnes-aims-to-go-pro-if-Tar-Heels-win-i/landing.html?blockID=667046&feedID=3798 If they win it all (highly unlikely now with Marshall's injury), he is 100% gone, but if they don't I could see him staying.
  15. Ugh, what a horrible possession. Talk about overdribbling. Would be a hell of a story if Hummel hits a game winner here, though.
  16. Hummel really doesn't want his career to end. Dude is giving it his all out there, but will it be enough?
  17. I think it is more accepting than anything. We've come to the relization that it has become part of the game and is always going to be there as long as the refs continue to call it. If I had it my way no floppers would be rewarded but I also know that will never be the case in sports, whether it is hockey, soccer, basketball or whatever.
  18. Tar Heels are done. They might get by Ohio without Marshall, but no chance in hell they are going to get any further than that. Terrible timing. Anyways, this Lehigh/Xavier game has been pretty good. Lehigh had an early 15 point lead, Xavier came back to take a 7 point lead, Lehigh came back to tie it at 50 and now Xavier is back up by 6 with 4 minutes left.
  19. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2012/03/uncs-kendall-marshall-fractures-right-wrist/1 Video of the play: http://www.sbnation.com/2012-ncaa-tournament/2012/3/18/2883149/kendall-marshall-injury-video-broken-wrist Safe to say UNC's chances of winning a National Championship have pretty much evaporated. No Marshall ( No Strickland No McDonald Terrible news.
  20. So pretty much it is for $9.3M a season. Not a bad signing for the Nuggets given their roster. Much more than that report on deadline day, though. Still, it adds some nice depth for the playoff push. Anyways, it should be interesting to see how they handle the next two years. They have McGee as a free agent this season and Lawson next year. If they plan on keeping them both, and obviously they will keep Lawson, they will have to go into luxury tax and is that something that Kroneke will be willing to do?
  21. Barnes finally showing some life hitting back-to-back 3's from the top of the arc. He has still been bad today, and even I can't try and spin this on the system as part of the reason why. He has just played poorly on the offensive end (his defense has been solid, though). You can tell that UNC is trying to get him going for the next game, since this one is basically wrapped up already.
  22. Can cross off UConn and North Carolina as well. Down to Kentucky, Syracuse and Georgetown. http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-basketball/story/2012-03-18/mega-recruit-nerlens-noel-narrows-list-to-kentucky-syracuse-georgetown-drops-nor#ixzz1pVsUCoWG
  23. What a circus shot from Henson. Also, as much as I like Barnes, he is looking like shit this game. Does a simple crossover and nearly losses it out of bounds, can't absorb the contact to finish the layup, gets his own rebound and instead of going up strong he avoids contact and ends up with an air ball.
