  1. The difference between Dwight and Joel Anthony is bigger than the difference between LeBron and Metta. And if Pau's weakness is physicality...is that supposed to mean Chris Bosh has an advantage? Bosh is made of the same notebook paper that Pau is, but much less skilled. The only possible problem is LeBron going off. In that case, Metta could just kill him with a folding chair. He can't go an entire season without assaulting somebody anyway, so the Lakers just need to nudge his impulse in the right direction.
  2. Ironically, the tax exemption isn't Biblical at all. Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and all.
  3. The only insight I can offer: Most of the books I buy say US: $25 CA: $32 or something. If things are more expensive in Canada, it makes sense that Canadians have more money.
  4. 5 on 5 =/= 5 games of one-on-one. Mavericks are really deep, and I expect they'll do better.
  5. Jason Kidd regards Rondo as the point guard most similar to himself. Fixed. Really, could have guessed that.
  6. This entire thing is pure gold. Funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
  7. Nice. Every time Robin stepped on the floor, I regretted watching. I could live with Hak, but I'd call Wes an upgrade. I would do this without the 1st rounder, so life is good.
  8. I can't remember exactly, but didn't Tracy and Yao only play a handful of games together due to injuries? And if memory serves, they were obscenely good when they actually did play together. Plus, there was that streak when Houston won about 100 games in a row without Yao. I get the Wase choice, especially defensively, but I take T-Mac.
  9. Deep as 08 was, gotta go with the star power. 2003 takes it for me.
  10. Yeah, on a personal note, I do like shooting things. My Dad's a sheriff's deputy. He got me the .45 that the police use in our county, and has been training me to do police qualifying with it.
  11. Not to discredit anything you've said about Nash, but take a look at the hundreds of names in the Hall right now. I know you can find dozens of players less deserving. When I say Nash belongs in the Hall, I'm saying that he's one of the top, maybe, 400 basketball people of all time. You can make an excellent argument that the Hall isn't nearly exclusive enough, but that's neither here nor there.
  12. As soon as the Suns are strong again, I'd suspect the rivalry back on. At the very least, having two contenders in the same division is going to incite a rivalry.
  13. Things that come to mind: Joe Johnson, Gilbert Arenas, Rashard Lewis. I would not be shocked if he got his max deal.
  14. Didn't Boston take every series to 7 games when they won it all in 2008? They weren't struggling against Philadelphia, they just wanted to make it more fun. Miami won't be a problem. I really like wishful thinking.
  15. He's trying to break into the Lakers' starting five. A prerequisite is punching somebody.
  16. Wasn't it just a few years ago that Miles, Reuben Patterson, Zach Randolph, et al. got into a major fight? It was probably a mistake (if you wear a gun for a while, you can forget you have it), but his reputation does him no favors.
  17. Kobe has been playing for 15 years without suffering a devastating injury (as far as I know). It seems a bit unlikely that he'd get seriously hurt playing in a smaller, less athletic league. The only possible hiccup is that some Turkish league player might want to end Kobe's career out of spite. That would be a way to gain notoriety, after all. For Batum, I'm not worried. Getting sent away from Portland gives him +15 to Durability.
  18. Alonzo is one of the highest character players of all time. I remember one story about him holding up traffic to let some senior citizen cross the street. You'd think he could just buy that merit badge. I wonder if the accident was a paint-scratcher, so Mourning (and the other drivers) thought it was no big deal and he left. Later, one of the drivers realized that he had a case against a guy worth tens of millions of dollars. That article says the driver was seeking damages from Mourning, but it doesn't mention the second driver. You know, the one who hit him in the first place? Wouldn't he be the primary target of the lawsuit cannon if Mourning weren't rich?
  19. Also, Felton/Matthews are much less talented than most of the other duos mentioned. But, yeah, there's also the "6 years" thing.
  20. I'm very surprised you remember me, since I was mainly a lurker who was too lazy to contribute! Thanks.
  21. If Dwight joins the Heat, the team that beats them in the Finals should get two championships.
  22. It would be a bad idea to blow up the team. They would be well-served to hang on to the Big 3 for now. The Spurs have arguably been at this point for half a decade with their aging core, and they're managed to stay (roughly) on top by adding serviceable bench players through the draft. Kevin Garnett has always relied more on athleticism than Tim Duncan, so he hasn't aged as well. But you could argue for Rondo over Parker and Pierce over Manu, and that's before thinking about Ray. Even the best of the eastern teams (I'm looking at you, Miami) have struggled mightily with consistency, and Boston's vets have a solid chance of winning the east in a shortened season. Besides, David Kahn is crazy as ever. You could always try offering Minnesota some red stew for their birthright (or Kevin Love).
  23. That's brain dead. I guess I'm the crazy one, but I think the game would be better if referees always made the correct call.
