  3. On a drab, lifeless Tuesday night at American Airlines Center, everybody found out how quickly a dud can turn into a stud. It happened with Dirk Nowitzki. And it happened with a dull game that turned absolutely mesmerizing, thrilling and historic in the fourth quarter. The Mavericks looked dead for three quarters, and Nowitzki was searching for a pulse, too. Then, as if the paddles had jolted him back to life, Nowitzki dominated the fourth quarter, and the Mavericks pulled off a 27-point turnaround for a determined 96-85 victory over the Utah Jazz. Nowitzki had 29 points in the fourth quarter, smashing the Mavericks record for points in a quarter set by Mark Aguirre in the first period against Denver on March 24, 1984. 6. It looks like the wheels may be turning in favor of the Broad Street Bully. According to the latest industry buzz, during a joint interview on Philadelphia's Power 99 radio station, 50 Cent announced that Sigel will soon be signing with his G-Unit Record label. This comes on the heel of a diss record Sigel released aimed at Jay-Z. (Listen Here) In an interview with Charlamagne Tha God, Sigel continued to air out his grievance with Jay, stating how he [Jay] wouldn't let Sigel off the label so that he can join G-Unit a few years back. Earlier today, 50 confirmed Sigels statements saying, "Beans was the better artist out of the actual crew, the stronger artist. That’s why when he did the year and a day, I was like “as soon as he comes home, I’m bringing that project over here.” He would of got at least $800,000. Jay was telling him he didn’t want to lose him." We will post audio of the announcement as it becomes available. http://www.defsounds.com/articles/Breaking_50_cent_signs_beanie_sigel_to_g_unit_records

  8. According to the Web site Outsports.com, Drew Gooden yelled a homophobic slur at a pair of fans seated near the Mavericks bench during Saturday's game against at Staples Center against the Clippers. The Web site said Gooden yelled the slur at actor Chris Wylde, who is married and is not gay and was attending the game with a friend. Owner Mark Cuban would not comment, but e-mailed Wylde, according to the Web site, and said the team would deal with Gooden internally. http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/62543/20091103/gooden_allegedly_yells_homophobic_slur_at_heckler/
  9. Lakers forward Pau Gasol's hamstring injury may be more serious than initially believed. He underwent a sonogram that revealed he may have a slight tear in his right hamstring. Gasol underwent a more detailed MRI on Monday, but the results aren't yet known. "It's not as sophisticated a test," Lakers spokesman John Black told the Los Angeles Times about the sonogram. "That's why we are doing the MRI. It's much more sophisticated." Gasol has been shut down for three weeks now. http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/62541/20091103/gasol_may_have_tear_in_hamstring/
  10. Memphis teammates O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay got into a shouting match near the end of the team's loss to Denver on Sunday night. Mayo scored a career-high 40 points, but the Grizzlies lost 133-123. The incident took place during a timeout late in the fourth quarter. Gay took exception when Mayo made a strong comment about his teammates not getting back on defense, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal. Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins and a number of players stepped in to separate the two players. "I told them to shut up so we can get on with the rest of the game," Hollins said. "It's not about you. It's about us trying to win a game. We can't stand here with you guys going back and forth. It was a heat-of-the-moment incident. They get along. They're just competitors. They both want to succeed." After the game both Mayo and Gay said that the incident was "nothing." http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/62519/20091102/mayo_rudy_gay_have_to_be_separated/ i knew it would happen eventually.

  12. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban reiterated on Friday night that he's glad to see Ron Artest with the Lakers. Cuban generated some headlines this summer when he told the media he was happy to see the combustible forward in Los Angeles. "History repeats itself," Cuban told the Orange County Register. "I'm not saying something you guys haven't considered, right? That's just the risk. Every team has to deal with chemistry and the impact of the chemistry on the team. Normally, you try to minimize that. "Ron is an amazing talent, he's a great guy. I don't really know him, but the way he's handled this is phenomenal. I give him a ton of credit. But it is what it is." http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/62488/20091031/cuban_reiterates_stance_on_artest_in_la/
