Kareem Abdul-Jabbar told NBA TV he would probably continue in his role with the Lakers as a special assistant to Phil Jackson.The Memphis Grizzlies received permission recently to interview Abdul-Jabbar and reportedly were quite serious about having him join their coaching staff."I'm not really going to try and change my situation at this point," Abdul-Jabbar said. "I'm still with the Lakers and I'm probably going to stay there because that's the best situation for me. Lakers coach Phil Jackson says he was kidding when he said that forward Pau Gasol could be out until Christmas.Gasol hasn't played yet this season because of a sore hamstring.Jackson said Wednesday night that Gasol is day to day with the injury and that the Christmas comment, which was made to the Los Angeles Daily News, was a big joke.   12. Signs continue to point to New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning making his 83rd consecutive start, including the postseason, on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. Manning participated in the team's walkthrough this morning at Giants Stadium, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, a day after he practiced on his injured right foot. Manning is listed as questionable for the game, but there has been no word to this point that Rhett Bomar has been promoted from the practice squad to serve as a backup to David Carr.
