  3. Brandon Knight adds to the logjam in the backcourt with Richard Hamilton, Ben Gordon, Rodney Stuckey and Will Bynum. At times it seemed none was happy with his role or minutes, and the addition of Knight would only seem to complicate matters. However, it gives the Pistons some flexibility to decide what to do with those players, and Dumars made a point to say he'll continue to add young talent. It wasn't a shot at Hamilton per se, but it's no secret Dumars would love to move the Pistons' all-time leading playoff scorer, who's on the downside of his career. The Pistons won't give him away, but they are shopping him. Source: Real GM

  15. John Calipari has already extended an invitation for John Wall to work out in Lexington if the league, as expected, has a lockout.“I told him, if there is a lockout. You come back with us,” Calipari said on Wednesday in Chicago, where he watched another former pupil, Derrick Rose, accepted the Maurice Podoloff trophy as the league’s most valuable player at age 22. “I said, ‘Use our building. We’ve got facilities here. Whatever you want, if you need to, if there is a lockout, stay here. Be here in the mornings.’ ”Wall finished out his studies after his only season at Kentucky and was a member of the Southeastern Conference freshman academic honor roll. Calipari added that if Wall were to re-enroll at Kentucky — which one of Wall’s representatives, Dwon Clifton, said on Thursday was unlikely but “still a possibility” — he could practice with the Wildcats as well to stay in basketball shape.“He can be on the court with us. He can be a student assistant going back to school, you can put him on the court. I’m going to invite all of our guys, John, [bulls guard and District native Keith] Bogans,” he said after watching Rose score 25 points and dish out 10 assists to lead the Bulls to an 86-73 win over the Atlanta Hawks in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinal. “I even said to Derrick, you didn’t go there, but if you want, you can come down. But hopefully, there isn’t a long stoppage, but if there is, I want to make sure our guys know they can come back with us.” Source: RealGM

  17. Shortly after being named the NBA’s 2010-11 Rookie of the Year, Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin donated the autographed 2011 Kia Optima midsize sedan used in his final attempt to win the Slam Dunk at NBA All-Star 2011 for an upcoming public charity auction on AutoTrader.com to benefit Stand Up To Cancer. Proceeds from the auction of the automobile will go directly to cancer research funded by Stand Up To Cancer in tribute to Griffin’s friend and former high school teammate, Wilson Holloway. A Tulsa native, Wilson passed away on February 16 after a three-year battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Griffin will work with Stand Up to Cancer to identify the best way to utilize the funds to target research done specifically for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.“I am honored to memorialize Wilson’s legacy by helping to raise funds for cancer research,” said Blake Griffin. “Wilson was an inspiration to everybody who knew him, and a very dear friend and teammate. I dedicated my All-Star weekend to him.” Source: RealGM
  18. Kenneth Faried, the rugged 6-foot-8 power-forward rebounding machine, has fascinated Knicks scouts, according to people in the know. The Morehead State bruiser, who ignited the small-school's first-round upset of Louisville, has seen his stock soar since the NCAA Tournament, when the Eagles got to the Round of 32. Likened to Dennis Rodman, Faried set an NCAA modern-day record of 1,673 career rebounds and averaged 13.4 this season. One scout said he is "probably the best rebounder in the draft."Some NBA scouts even wonder if he'll be available when the Knicks select at No. 17. 19. Nene said Monday he is strongly considering opting out of the final season of his six-year, $60 million contract, which would pay him $12 million, and testing the free-agent market. After nine seasons in the NBA, Nene has full control of his future and it could take hard work for the Nuggets to make him happy enough to return."I've been here for nine years," said Nene, 28. "If that doesn't work how you want it, you need to sit down and evaluate everything and see what you can do."The overarching issues in this situation are his level of happiness with the Nuggets and, ultimately, his value on the open market.Players similar to him — Utah's Al Jefferson, Chicago's Carlos Boozer and Portland's LaMarcus Aldridge — will make $11 million to $14 million next season. 20. The Celtics have never been down 2-0 in a playoff series in the Kevin Garnett era, and they are well aware of the situation.“The urgency is there,” Garnett said on Friday before the team took the practice floor. “This is it. We’ve used all of our lifelines. This is it. I hate to say it like that, but it’s true. There’s not a: Cool, keep your composure. Nah, this is: You’ve got to get the next game.”He continued, “We’re taking their best shot. I still don’t think we’ve played our best basketball, and we’ve got to do that. We can’t just come out here and talk about it. We’re not on the white sands of the beach [any] more. We’re back in the jungle. Hopefully that’ll do some good for us. We’ll figure it out. I told you man, we’re all in. I’ve got two pocket kings and I’m all in. Let’s do it.” Source: RealGM
