Until we figure a workaround, you can set the board to watch every topic you reply in. That's a board setting that we have to see how we can change, if we can change it.

I'm seeing it Friday or Saturday...it looks schweet!

Devin. I have him with the bigger upside, with the more polished offensive game, and with the wherewithal to take a team on his shoulders, take the pressure of being dealt for Kidd to come back strong, and the passing will come. Besides the highlighted steals that Rondo gets, I have Harris with the better defense as well.
-
Gordon...more lethal scorer if he's the main option, pretty good 3-point shooter in his own right, and he has more time left.
-
Jason Kidd can pretty much fit in any situation, so you definitely take him over Iverson at this point. Iverson needs a system around him to work with him.

Roy, but his notoriety is steadily rising. A bunch of forwards are getting overlooked...Landry, Bass, Biendris, Lee. I think Ben Gordon is still looked at as a little guy but he can be the leading scorer for many teams.

Do you follow teams or individual players?
alcstarheel replied to Mike Hawk's topic in General NBA Discussion
I followed the Lakers before Kobe and I'll follow them after. But if he were to go elsewhere I would still follow him, but my hope for his success would come secondary to my hope for the Lakers' success. -
I have us in another Finals run with the biggest hope that we can repeat, against the Cavs this time

Which team is in the deepest hole?
alcstarheel replied to YugoRocketsFan's topic in General NBA Discussion
Pretty easy to thrown the Clippers into this ring. For the most part they are not about winning. They have Dunleavy as a coach which hasn't gone well. And they are constantly in the Lakers' shadow. Besides them and the Kings I can't think of any other teams that aren't trying to put a great product on the floor. Seems like every other team has something going for them. -
Definitely get the money when you can. Of course you don't want to leave a contender for the money, but you want to get the money and show that you're worth it. I think that's a pretty huge accomplishment. The mind set for these guys is to take the opportunities when they get them. Truthfully speaking, winning a championship doesn't guarantee you money to take care of your family and put the best life out there for your kids. When you do win that 'ship, and making 7+ mil a year doing it, that is showing that they team is paying you to give them a chance to keep winning that 'ship. Trevor Ariza is on that mindset right now. He wants to be shown that the team values his contribution to the title run. This is a business, and the teams' owners are about money just as the players are.

Wade of course. 'Melo has some things to work out as far as being a team leader, something Wade has moved into beautifully. He'll be in contention with Wade and LeBron for tops in the league in a couple years if he continues to work, on a consistent basis. And I changed the poll so it wasn't a multiple choice question.

Similar to the other thread, San Antonio's pickup I would take over the other two, and it's a pretty big difference. Cleveland isn't going to expect much from Shaq because they don't need much from him. Orlando still has things to work out themselves. San Antonio makes out pretty well because they were still able to be respectable with Manu gone the whole season, now RJ comes in and he can just go with the flow and bring them back to the WCF. Cleveland and Orlando are just trying to remain in the fold, and they have the pressure to get back, while they have Washington, Boston, Atlanta, and Miami (slightly) becoming bigger forces to knock them off.

Lakers Lakers Lakers Probably Blazers Slightly the Bulls

The youth infusion for San Antonio is going to be huge for them. RJ takes the pressure off Duncan, allowing him to go into his twilight years, and it takes the pressure off TP to have to carry the team from the perimeter. When you look at Orlando, Dwight still has pressure to be their offense in the middle. They don't have Courtney Lee anymore. They still have pressure to develop an actual offense instead of just shooting from downtown every other possession. Shaq's impact is going to be minimal. He brings them some interior scoring, but that's pretty much it. They were set on rebounding. Their offense did need some work but I don't think bringing in Shaq is going to increase their output on that end alone.

Three questions in the post but only one question in the poll? Prime: Pretty close, but Vince really took his teams deep and really stepped up in the 'offs when he had the chance. Tracy still has yet to do that. Now: Vince, he's putting together stronger seasons and looks like he can keep going longer. Career-wise: Also pretty close. Both have made their impacts. Neither have gotten to that mountaintop and both have had those times where their decision making could have derailed their careers completely. Each have had leadership lapses. Right now you could easily say that The Mac has the tools to be a better all around player...deadly as a scorer, can guard if he's up to it, great passer and rebounder. But Vince has lived up to that and done it on bigger stages. That can't be overlooked.

Shaq...if he would have made an effort to stay in shape and refine his game, he would have been top 3 best players ever, easily. His prime was pretty remarkable. Duncan's was steady, but matching up their primes, O'Neal's game was more impact-ful.

The word is that Yao may be out the whole season...that's not good for this comparison. Dwight's offense is going to come around. I don't think it'll get up to Yao's level, but it'll become good enough to be dominant. His defense is going to improve as well which is really scary. If Yao can get healthy he's still the better player, but it looks like Dwight's game will have the bigger impact this seasaon and for the future.

24 Wade - not a far off #2 Roy JJ Vince Ben Gordon (silent #5) Ben Gordon has been getting it done since he got in the league. I also see Iggy as more of a SF than someone like Vince.

Which free agent would you most like your team to sign?
alcstarheel replied to Cobb's topic in General NBA Discussion
Oooooooooooooh give me Ron Artest. Great defensive player. All-around tough guy. Knows his place on the court when he's got the right coach/player combo. Beat people up for Kobe...that would be a huge pickup for us -
If you were an NBA free agent, which would you prefer?
alcstarheel replied to Cobb's topic in General NBA Discussion
Great city with a great team right behind. Usually great cities will be able to put out great teams more often than not. And if I'm a good enough free agent then I should be able to bring that team in the great city back to notoriety. -
Kobe Bryant Derrick Rose Brandon Roy Dirk Nowitzki Tony Parker Dwyane Wade Amaré Stoudemire Carmelo Anthony LeBron James Jason Kidd Honorable Mention: Courtney Lee - kid is going to be pretty good Not a groundbreaking list. After the first guy it's a pretty big drop off.

Looks good to me...that's weird.
