  1. We used to do debate tournaments back on JBB and they would always have a good amount of success. One person would run it and give a topic that two posters would debate on within a 48 hour time span. Sometimes there would be either judges, everyone votes for who they think won, or the person that runs the tourny gives points for each post and the winner is decided then. These tournaments are always fun. We have a great amount of knowledgeable posters on here and there are tons of topics that can be debatable. Would you guys be interested in something like this?
  2. You can build a championship team around Dwight Howard. You can not do the same with Andrew Bynum as your cornerstone. I think he would be a good second or third best player on a championship team, but not the main piece.
  3. I remember the days of how Rivers would get so much hate for having the big 3. People would say stuff like, "anyone can coach those 3 superstars and win a championship".
  4. THIS. Durant is crazy overrated right now. He's not even that far above Carmelo, I don't even know if I would take him over Melo. Give me LeBron easily over Durant to build a team over, then Rose and Dwight.
  5. Philly can sneak up on the Celtics to win the division if the big 3 gives out sometime after the all-star break. The easy finals pick is still Miami, despite some weird losses.
  6. Smh at Warriors not getting a vote for the best home court advantage. As for best pure shooters, if you don't think Anthony Morrow is the best or second best, I don't even know what to say. Dude is a monster.
  7. I feel like Dwight's defense is starting to get overrated. He doesn't seem to have the same effect on his teammates like Garnett did back when he first joined Boston and made them a defensive powerhouse.
  8. Just like how Muslim extremists don't represent Islam.
  9. I wanted Monroe so bad in that draft and we ended up with Udoh. -_-
  10. I used to work at Taco Bell and this girl I worked with would get her phone number asked for almost all the time. She was a slut though. lol
  11. He's getting his shots, they're just not falling for him. His confidence has gone down because of that. Thought he would have it back after the Miami game, but I guess not. Defenses have also learned how to defend him. His pump fakes don't work as successful anymore, imo.
  12. http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/images/photos/001/529/519/136979593_crop_650x440.jpg?1326600082 It was clear from the start, having a one-hour nationally televised program dedicated for an NBA player to declare which team he will play for next season will be a bad idea. It will affect the millions of fans of the team, it will affect the league’s reputation, but you did not expect it to affect the other players in the league. Ever since LeBron James made his decision to join the Miami Heat, it seems more and more big-time players are attempting to perhaps choose where they want to play. After James, you might have seen several different star players ask to be traded and not just a normal trade, but to a specific destination. Whether it was using talking to sources close to the team, talking to their own team directly or just flat out making it public, the players are putting them in position to run the league. Carmelo Anthony saw the other three stars from the 2003 draft class got together, so you knew he had to do something drastic to be on a winning team. He got the Denver Nuggets front office to work on a deal to move to New York and play with the Knicks. Not only was he going to be playing in one of the biggest markets in all of sports, but he would be playing with a star big man in Amar’e Stoudemire. If you think that was an unclassy move, what about former Utah Jazz point guard Deron Williams? He was reportedly getting into big conflicts with the hall of fame coach Jerry Sloan. Disrespecting a coach in any way is not the type of move you want from your star player, especially if the coach has been coaching that team since you were just starting out as a player. With all the problems in the Jazz situation, Williams got traded to the New Jersey Nets, a team that will plan to move to Brooklyn soon and is expected to be another big-time media spot. Although that is the case, the Nets themselves currently do not have the pieces to be a championship contender. This brings up the big question, will Williams walk away after the season, ask for a trade prior to the deadline or tough it out and try to build a contender with the Nets? With the way the NBA is today do not be surprised to see him wearing a different team’s jersey by next season. That is however, only if the Nets do not get a star player, say, Dwight Howard. Howard has had tons of rumors speculating where he is going to be traded. Places like Los Angeles, New Jersey, Golden State and others have been named for a while. Dwight will basically pick where he wants to play, and that most likely looks like it will be alongside Kobe if the Magic like the pieces the Lakers offer. Speaking of the Lakers, they nearly got Chris Paul on account of Paul wanting to play for them. He hated his situation in New Orleans and wanted a change of scenery. What was the outcome? A trade veto from David Stern. If this hadn't occurred he would be playing for the “A” Los Angeles team right now. You can think all of these situations must be bad and a headache for fans of the teams and the front office. You can also think a player can do something like this if he has at least a good resume in the NBA, but you should not expect it from a player that has not even been in the league more than three seasons and just turned the legal age to drink. Sacramento Kings player DeMarcus Cousins has demanded a trade and the season is not even at its halfway point yet. You can slightly expect this from the star players. When a player of Cousins' stature does this you know the league is going to be in trouble. Having players dictate where they play and build “superstar” teams can be a big concern in the NBA in the near future if this continues. It can also bring you back to the whole LeBron “Decision” fiasco. Is the fact that James got media attention and formed a team led by three stars the reason for the league turning like this? The fact of the matter is, the Heat have yet to win a title with LeBron, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. If they win the title like they are expected to this year, you can expect the players to control where they play for a while to come. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1024889-result-of-the-decision-nba-players-running-the-league
  13. Start a thread and set it up, I'm sure we'll have people interested.
  14. We used to have rap battle threads where people would type their verses. We can start another tournament if a good amount of people are down.
  15. Rather have the Raiders in the post season, but a great game putting the Bay Area on the map!
  16. Pathetic game. The coaching staff should be ashamed of themselves. By doing the "hack a Dwight" strategy, they basically told their players that they have no chance of hell in stopping Dwight Howard so just foul him and hope he misses. SMH. You would never see a true winning team do something like that to a point where you put Howard in position to actually break the record for most free throws attempted in a game. I'm so fed up with the big men on this team. Lee is inconsistent and plays terrible defense. Jeremy Tyler should be in the d-league. Andris Biedrins should have been cut or traded a while ago. Biedrins is useless, and if you're not going to play him more than 15 minutes a game, why is he starting over Udoh who gets more time on the court? Some decisions by the team is starting to get frustrating, and the Warriors are just ten games into the season. A 3-7 start is not what I expected. Good game for Monta Ellis however, scoring 30 points and still getting 10 assists to go with it. His passing has become really fun to watch this year and just makes me want to deal Curry that much more. Clay Thompson is looking alot more comfortable out there, which is a great sign for the rookie. And Nate Robinson, once again proving to me that the signing was not as bad as I thought. I feel like he takes the ball away from Ellis a little too much at times, but that's what happens when you can't really move without the ball. It's good to see that Ellis and Lee have formed some time of relationship where Ellis drives and kicks it back to Lee for easy points. Saw that many times tonight. You already knew that Robinson and Lee were that good chemistry wise because of the days they played together with the Knicks. All said and done, embarrassing game to watch as a Warriors fan. Even more so because it was a game that was nationally televised.
  17. I still see Tim Duncan as the best power forward to ever play in the NBA. Like you guys mentioned, his IQ is very high which is what led to him being able to get this high in scoring. He is a great defender, and an underrated passer too. I agree with Brandon, he is not a better scorer than Larry Bird, but with the way that he has played in his career, it's believable that he passed Bird on the list.
  18. No other team this year will win a championship outside of the Bulls, Heat, Lakers or Thunder. I would put Dallas amongst them, but I feel like Lamar Odom and Vince Carter will cause the team to lose more games than expected. The loss of Tyson Chandler also kills them.
  19. Both of them are washed up, 34 years old, and had basketball careers after the NBA. But if your team was in need of a point guard, and Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis were your only two picks, who would you rather sign?
  20. He reminds me a lot of Nash and Stockton (passing wise). Call me stupid now, but if he stays healthy and gets consistent minutes, I can see him being up there in assists by the time he retires.
