Charges are a huge part of the game as they keep control of reckless drives and over aggressive play. If you get beat to the spot you cant just go through the person, it makes you make a move. And taking a charge is a better play than any block ever could be, as it not only gives you the ball but it also gives the opposing player/team a foul.

Why should the other team play defense though if they know you can't shoot free throws? Its like leaving a player who can't shoot threes open at the arc. Why guard him close and risk the chance of being blown by for a basket. The goal is to take advantage of the opposing teams weakness's, whether that is one players free throw shooting or another teams lack or size. I agree it should have light restrictions (like the two minute rule) but in no way should it be restricted to the point where it's a complete disadvantage to one side.

I agree 100%. He has been just as important as anyone else for them. Having him come off the bench and literally control the game night in and night out has been huge. Not to mention that he is always on the floor controlling the ball in crunch time.
