  1. You can't base all opinions off of numbers and I've never heard of Henry Abbott.
  2. Its goes division by division...and then post-season. Doing them all now means this lasts about what...2 or 3 days?
  3. You need to read the entire first post, not just glance and then form an assumption.
  4. Happened a couple days ago but I have yet to point out (at OTR) how nice of a fit this is for the Heat and Arroyo. Arroyo played ball in Europe last season, which sounds like a perfect fit for him, given his style of play. No secret that the Heat were strung out at the PG position coming into this season. Chalmers is still developing his game, had a pretty successful 2008-09 season but not a lot of depth behind him. Chris Quinn is capable, nice size but not a great finisher and certainly not a good defender. Quinn is suffering ankle issues which made Dwyane Wade our back-up at PG...certainly a job he shouldn't have to cover. Getting back to Arroyo... Arroyo's arrival adds much needed depth to Miami's bench. FIU alumni, Arroyo is familiar with the area and most likely happy to be in South Beach. Arroyo is competitive and he plays physical, both traits the Heat need in order to improve upon last season's playoff run. Arroyo should shine in a reserve role with the Heat and moving forward, my only question is how much of Chalmers' playing time does this move effect?
  5. Nowhere in my post did I suggest Artest was better or the Lakers were better with Artest.
  6. I'll start off the voting...show everyone what I am looking for... Boston Celtics Nothing I love more than the timeless classics and this look is a timeless classic. I also love how the Celtics have found ways to add to their classic look w/o going overboard. Final Grade: 8 New Jersey Nets I'd go as far as saying the Nets look of the Ed O'Bannon era is more favorable than this. Never been a fan of their lame logo, the lame attempt at incorporating silver into their design and I really despise the diamond cross-hatch going down the panels. I look forward to this team moving to Brooklyn as a new uniform design will most likely come with it. Final Grade: 3 New York Knicks Another one of those timeless classics I've already talked about. Blue and orange has to be one of favorite color combos and it looks great on the Knicks uni's...which is about the only thing that looks good coming out MSG these days. -1 for not doing anything other than doing the all-green thing for an alternate. Final Grade: 7 Philadelphia 76ers Just as the black uniforms grew on me, the Sixers attempt to turn back the clock...or not. I love the idea but hate the design. The 76ers did right by re-adopting their old school logo and color scheme but really dropped the ball in trying their hand at the whole old-but-new look. An outline around the "Sixers" and numbers would be a huge improvement. Final Grade: 4 Toronto Raptors Not a big fan of most of the newer age outfits but I don't mind the Raptors look as much. The Raptors have come a long way since those hideous rags they wore when they debuted their franchise but I will say shame on them for ditching the purple. Purple may not be the most masculine of colors but they should of stuck with what they invented themselves as back when. Those all black alts are pretty nasty. Final Grade: 7
  7. CONCEPT: Tournament style competition to determine the best NBA uniform set as voted on by the OTR Community. Upon grading each team, division by division, the Finals will take place in the form of a final bracket. Seeding for finals will be based off of overall grades. Finals match-ups will be in the form of a polls. Put it this way, if your lost...just watch how it works. RULES: Carefully study each team's uniform set. Grade each uniform set on a scale of 1 (low) - 10. Grades should be based on color scheme, creativity, relevance, originality, attractiveness and marketing. Scores from each member will be compiled, tallied and a final grade given to each team. Grade will determine division rankings and seeding for the finals bracket. DEADLINE: We'll say 48 hours from the time of first post. A new division will be posted a day. NOTE: Done this before with NFL teams and it was a success. The key to making this work is obviously the more involved the better but discussion, campaigning, debating is absolutely required. Lastly...if your a homer, fine, but lets maintain some integrity here. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ATLANTIC DIVISION UNIFORMS http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/4319/bos1.gif
  8. Pretty cool given what it is, a simple 76ers wall. I think it would look a little better if the logo had a slight dropshadow to it.
  9. I'll say it straight up: Trevor Ariza's agent f***ed him. To ignore the Lakers and then watch as they bring in Ron Ron for about the same amount of money as your client...not right at all. Ariza was the perfect fit for the Lakers, very versatile, no pressure, in a roleplayer positon. Now he's playing for an injury trodden Rockets' team that is looking at him to provide size and too much offense. You can argue that he will be better once McGrady is on the floor...but how much is McGrady is on the floor during a season?
  10. LOL, Agent Zero finally spoke to the media....briefly.... http://voices.washingtonpost.com/wizardsinsider/2009/10/arenas-speaks----finally-brief.html
  11. Jackson is a scumbag. I read his comments about giving up the team captain role yesterday, saying how he doesn't care and its overrated anyways. Jackson is terribly overvalued considering his minutes and possessions. I've said it somewhere else that he's a guy that would/should be coming off the bench on most other teams.
  12. SMH...what does it say about a team that has 2 former lottery picks that can play the position...and both are under-achievers? The Knicks would trade Curry for a bag of donuts right now, (if they can get even that kind of offer), and intrigue is about the only argument you can give towards giving Darko the starting gig. I would look towards Jeffries or even Lee to start at Center. Both players are long, can defend the position against most...but I am not Mike D'Antoni and I agree, D'Antoni doesn't play defense.
  13. Durant was one of the biggest All-Star snubs of last season...but yet he's somehow looked at (by any random yahoo) as the worst player on the Thunder!?! I think the Thunder's struggles had more to do with their coaching than anything. Once Scottie Brooks took over the team, the offense started to flow much better and the team played considerably better than they did under PJ. Brooks got more production out of Durant by moving him to SF and Westbrook excelled by being given the ability to dominate the ball more. My biggest problem with this team is their size in the post and obviously defense. Jeff Green plays hard but just isn't a PF and because of a lack of personnel, Green is forced to play the position at least half the time.
  14. The Hornets made out on this deal as they not only saved $2M for this season but they upgrade at the position. Both players have had their injury woes but Okafor is the better post scorer and slightly better shot blocker and rebounder. Chandler is the superior defender but his offensive game is really weak. Other than that lob dunk, Chandler features nagging ankle and toe injuries that make him a lock to sit at least 20 games a season.
  15. The 76ers are in a weird position. They have some bright, young players to look forward to but these players are surrounded by a lack-luster corps of veterans. Iguodala is good, consistent but won't get any better than he already is...Brand is a huge injury risk...and Dalembert, well, he's Samuel Dalembert. Lou Williams is a much better player coming off the bench than he will be as a starting PG. Lets hope Jrue Holiday is the real deal in a year or two.
  16. Not an original idea but one that I wish to share with OTR. I do find this an interesting little game. RULES: Build a team using only current NBA bench players. You cannot use more than 1 player from an NBA team. You must give your team a city and creative name...just because. My team follows... New Mexico Camanches Starting Lineup: C - Chris Anderson - DEN PF - Paul Millsap - UTA SF - Lamar Odom - LAL SG - Rudy Fernandez - POR PG - Kirk Hinrich - CHI Bench : C - Rasheed Wallace - BOS PF - Al Harrington - NYK SF - Joe Alexander - MIL SG - Michael Finley - SAN PG - Jose Juan Barea - DAL SG - Ben Gordon - DET
  17. Liking the Dodgers in this series myself. I still consider the Phillies offense the most dangerous but their bullpen is very uneasy and L.A. has a lot of momentum coming into this game. Lets hope for Phillies' sake Cole Hamels doesn't come out tonight throwing like he did last week.
  18. "Breakin' Ankles Radio" or "The Post Up"
  19. I read about this movie in the last issue of SLAM. The movie doesn't specifically focus on LeBron, it focuses on the relationship between LeBron...and those other 2 guys... I have also read some pretty good reviews about it. I am no fan of Bron but I will watch any good basketball documentary.
  20. I want to see Beas become a part of the offense this season. He was basically left out of plays last season and stuck out on the wing...when he would be a better presence inside. Beasley is a PF-in-waiting but a better fit for the heat in the 3-spot as long as Haslem is still around. Now that we've added some depth at point with Arroyo's signing, my biggest concern is at center. Jermaine looked like a shadow of his former self last season and put up some pathetic numbers after the trade from Toronto.
  21. Classic Marbury move here, further cementing his legacy of being the biggest douchebag in the history of the modern era. The fact that Marbury turned down a 1 year/$1.3M offer from the Celtics, because he thinks he actually has more value that that, is laughable. Not even Europe wants this clown spreading poor attitude and selfishness through its teams like cancer.
  22. Too many rumors surrounding the Warriors right now, to include the potential trades of Biedrins. Biedrins would be a welcomed addition to Toronto and would be a good move of the Raptors in getting something out of Bosh before he walks. I wouldn't even come close to thinking that Bosh completes the Warriors though. Golden State has a ton of problems...the biggest one being that their offense totally revolves around a guy who would be coming off the bench on most other teams.
  23. One of the few but proud Heat fans residing in New Jersey Nets territory. Became a Heat fun during the classic Knicks-Heat postseason brawls we used to know and love....haven't turned back since. Recently ditched the all-around sports forums I membered at, to include a pretty high up position at a place I was a member of for a few years. Basically tired of the same old thing and tired of ending up doing more at forums than just shooting the shizz. Looking forward to talking basketball with people who actually know basketball once again. Big into the NBA (obviously), big into fantasy sports and I loooove NBA Sim Leagues. Also game it up here and there.
