Rumor: Kobe's wife, Vanessa, hurt Pau Gasol
The Artesticle replied to reno's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
The girlfriend was sitting next to Pau's mom in one of the Dallas games so this rumor is most likely false. John Ireland also sat behind the Lakers bench to observe interaction between Kobe/Pau and he said that everything was normal between the two. -
the reason why the Lakers have an advantage in a potential Dwight Howard trade (assuming there are even talks) is because we have the contracts to absorb Arenas or Hedo's contracts, something a lot of other teams do not have. but i dont know if that is even preferable for us. Dwight will probably sign an extension with Orlando when it's all said and done. speculated Laker deals never occur, so most likely if there are moves in the offseason it'll be something that comes from the blue. I trust Mitch and the Buss family to do what's best for the team, and I'm sure they will make the right moves this offseason to retool.

Is Pau Gasol time playing in LA over?
The Artesticle replied to magicbalala245's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
Pau has been atrocious the entire postseason. He hasn't really played well since the first half of the regular season. I've been reading around and a lot of people are saying he is dealing with personal issues outside of basketball. I think physically, Pau should be fine. He rested up this summer and didn't play for Spain, so I don't think fatigue is an excuse. However, watching him play, he clearly isn't the same player he was last year, or the year before. It doesn't seem like he's mentally checked into games at this point. He's making mistakes on routine plays offensively and defensively, and that just shouldn't happen for somebody with so much basketball IQ. It's not like he's being out muscled and beatened up in the paint like he was in 2008, he simply isn't focused. I'm personally a believer in the speculation that something bad has happened in his personal life, that he's suffering from depression, or something of that nature. You just don't go from being one of the best power forwards in the game to a borderline scrub. Well maybe that's a little harsh, but he's been that bad. As for Pau's standing on the team, I'm not going to be the one to trash him, although I know many Laker fans will. I do think he deserved the boos he got in Game 2 at Staples, because he's simply playing awful basketball. But I'm not willing to throw him under the bus just yet and trade him away in the offseason. Obviously if you have a deal for someone like Dwight Howard or somebody who can guarantee us improvements, trade him. But I'm willing to see the real reason behind this collapse and I'm willing to give Pau another shot. He's simply too good of a player to just throw away. Laker fans also need to realize that without Pau, there would be no back to back titles. He was a key part, and instrumental in our two championships. Very few could have replaced the production he gave us. That being said, I still respect Pau a ton. I still like the guy and I'll continue rooting for him, I'll cheer him on in game 4. In the years that he's been here he's been a true professional and one of the classiest guys on the team. Whatever happens, I'd gladly take these two championships he helped us win over any other alternatives. I have too much respect for him and he's done too much for us just to just kick him to the curb. I know that there is much more than what meets the eye, something we don't know is really effecting his play right now. I just hope he's feeling alright and everything gets back on track in his personal life. -
Liked the Eagles picking up Watkins, he should start immediately and provide much needed help on the line to protect Vick. Our 2nd rounder from Temple might start for us if Mikell leaves in free agency, and apparently Reid thinks he's a terrific tackler, so I'm sort of excited to see him play. Glad we picked up a cornerback in the 3rd round even though I don't know anything about him. We drafted a kicker in the 4th so that likely means a bittersweet goodbye for David Akers. All in all I think we had a decent draft, but just like every year you can't judge until these guys actually hit the field. I'll give us a B. I wish we traded up earlier to snatch a cornerback, but with free agency still looming anything can happen. I hope we can sign Aso

if its a major injury to his foot or ankle, as resilient as Kobe is, he's still a human being. There's no way he would be able to play through a game under those conditions at a high level. We'll find out tonight the real extent of his injury.

Nuggets were definitely impressive. I can't believe how well they've been playing since the Melo trade, and it's funny that New York is struggling. Denver seems to have gotten much better after losing Melo, which definitely surprises me.

Richard is a douchebag but how old is he? This will follow him for the rest of his life, people will be able to search this up ten years from now when he's applying for a job, and he may get shafted because of something he did as a kid. Sucks for him. But I lol

Brown: Kobe practices shooting through fouls
The Artesticle replied to Real Deal's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
last night was a big FU to the refs. It's amazing how much he's been disrespected this year. Kobe's a whole different animal, try to piss him off, try to hurt him try to break his ankle he'll come back and make a jumper in your face. He proved once again last night why he's the best closer in the game. The best player in the world. -
this is good news 2 less games we have to worry about him breaking his knee
