David Stern furious with Gregg Popovich
crabbylion replied to ChosenOne's topic in General NBA Discussion
C'mon!!! Is he the head coach, or what? So what if Popovich would've played his key guys and one of them comes down with a bad injury. What if the injury costs them in the post season. Then they'd be wanting Coach Pops head! -

Byron Scott - "Varejao best center in NBA"
crabbylion replied to Cleveland's Finest's topic in Cleveland Cavaliers Team Forum
He's always been a slept on big man. Unorthodox style of play at times, but I'm not surprised the guy is ballin at this point in his career. This comment is remarkable considering Scott has played with (and coached) some decent bigs. -
I don't think Eminem fell off, his content is just suspect. His delivery is still superb. This has a lot to do with the fact that he doesn't have to work as hard to get his craft across. As far as this single goes, it makes me think of a car commercial jingle....think Mazda or Kia or something. Would we listen to this song a second time? No.

Andrea Bargnani's Historic Game
crabbylion replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in Toronto Raptors Team Forum
How many of these attempts were inside the paint? If the majority were all high percentage shots then this is a major problem. If Bargnani was launching it all night long then he gets a minor pass (considering the opponent in that game). These frigid outputs happen often to primary options in offenses. The guy WAS hella amazing coming out of Europe, though. I guess Raptor country is ready to pull the plug on this. -
No way, man. They essentially already advertise like the boxers do with the tattoos. Keep the NBA jerseys looking classic and clean. Forget that nonsense! <_<

I know right! The third one should be "running his mouth". But since I must answer the question I'd say he's much better at turning mediocre players into good ones. He takes to many shots and requires too much limelight to turn ANY good player into a great one.

Snub Phil Jackson, Kobe Bryant again?
crabbylion replied to Real Deal's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
What's exactly the argument here? If it's the fact that Phil Jackson only won one Coach of the Year award, then maybe that was rightfully so. Don't you think that ANY coach could've won in L.A. with those rosters of the past ten years. Likewise, I also believe that the Lakers would still be a playoff team minus Kobe...in each of the past ten years. If we want to go with a technical definition of a Most Valuable Player, I think Dwight Howard should take it this year. Look at the teams of the top 5 MVP candidates; the only one in my opinion that would completely miss the post season minus it's star is the Orlando Magic. This means, yes, the Bulls would be a postseason team without Rose. -
As a complementary player I find Russell Westbrook to be much better. As a nucleus player, I think Monta Ellis is better. Ellis strikes me as a much more selfish player always concerned with lighting up the scoreboard. He's got the attitude as a go to guy anyway! Westbrook, however, is much more versatile, bigger, and unselfish. Ultimately it will depend on the system these guys are in. Straight up one on one, I think Westbrook will show he's better by winning 2 outta 3.

The most awkward moment in broadcasting
crabbylion replied to a topic in NBA and College Basketball Media
You sure about that? That's exactly what they would've wanted a black man to do. It's more than just being able to keep your cool. It's really about being sympathetic and understanding that some people lack IQ. -
Brooklyn Gaining Appeal for Dwight Howard
crabbylion replied to The Regime's topic in General NBA Discussion
Considering I really don't see NJ having any value to give up for Dwight Howard, he may complete the 2011-12 season and sign with them via FA. Although no Magic fan (including me) would want to see this, I feel it would be good for the league as a whole. Especially a tandem like that being in the north east. -
Of, course he will! Even in the slim chance that he doesn't grow, it'll take more than height to make it in the Association. We talk height, but ultimately it'll be his work ethic and committment to defense that will tell the story. The kid's got crazy handles, though.

I've been hearing a lot of talk regarding this Florida - BYU matchup in the Sweet 16. "Experts" are anticipating the Gators to avenge last year's loss to BYU. But they don't seem to be sure about Billy Donovan is going to prepare for them. Do the Gators try to lock down the rest of the Cougars and allow Jimmer Fredette get off? Or, do they try to make the rest of the team beat them while trying to harass Jimmer? Quite frankly, I think this will be the first time in a while that Fredette scores less than 20 points. I hope that I won't have to eat my words

NFL Considering Changing Kickoffs from 30 yard line to the 35
crabbylion replied to reno's topic in NFL Football
What are these guys bored or something? Not quite sure what the agenda is...making the kicking position more notorious? Are they sick of kick off returns for touchdowns? Do they want to see longer sustained drives? Because that's what will happen with increased touchbacks. I just don't see kickers not striving for kicking it out the stadium. -
Even though it wasn't a 30 for 30 it was arguably one of the best docs their production team has ever put on ESPN. I thought it was great, especially Jalen Rose. It was so great that I didn't even realize Chris Webber was absent until a good hour and ten minutes into the doc. The Fab Five really necessary for any sports fan to watch, because I didn't even remember the drug bust being in the news OR the fact that the starting lineup only feature four of them in the begining. I'm glad that they also uncovered the threats and racist letters sent to the coach and players. Once again, the media was able to paint whatever picture they wanted at the time. They made it seem like the Fab Five lived life on top with all the marketing and merchandise, when in actuality they fought extreme adversity. BTW...Did you realize that Taye Diggs narrated the doc? I dind't even know until the credits came across at the end.

I know! "I've seen my fair share of crack houses, and that was no crack house."

If most can remember back this far, I can recall David Robinson's 71 point effort back in 1994. I was a sophmore in high school and I remember being so amazed that I just had to cut out the article in the following day's sports page AND laminated it. I was a sports fanatic back then. ALSO... I was a huge Alonzo Mourning fan, even up to this day! Naturally, I followed the Charlotte Hornets back in his younger years and I was keeping a close eye on this playoff series. Remember the buzzer beater, yall?

Amare and Carmelo make fun of crying Heatles
crabbylion replied to The Artesticle's topic in Miami Heat Team Forum
Exactly! Besides, so what if they were crying? If the Heat's record was inverted (more losses than wins) the media and everyone else would be talking about how they can't win games. In the past years the Lakers seemed to have gotten free passes when the slumped in Jan-March, then come playoff time they were a different story. I think the world's beef here is with LeBron and not necessarily the Heat. They have more wins than 70% of the league, yet being crucified as if they're a lottery team this summer. No, I'm not a heat fan, just think that all this hype over non-sense is a waste of time. -
I'm with you. It's gonna take more than Kendrick Perkins to push them over the top. The Thunder may be missing one more key offensive player to go along with their defensive philosophy. Last seasons post season matchup with the Lakers was a Cinderella one. While the Lakers may be the weakest of the three you mentioned, I still don't think that OKC could beat them repeatedly (in a series). It's sad...because I admire the OKC franchise, but without that experience I don't see them making it to a game 6 in the second round. Timing sucks!

Rose Reveals Text Message Sent To Recruit LeBron
crabbylion replied to The Regime's topic in Chicago Bulls Team Forum
Nah, Lebron James had to get as far away from Cleveland as possible. A Chicago move was playing it too close. -

T-Wolves to offer 70 million extension to Love
crabbylion replied to The Regime's topic in Minnesota Timberwolves Team Forum
So what if he has more double-doubles than Blake Griffin? If you were the T'Wolves owner, would you extend him on account of just his solid game? In other words, why is Griffin used as a gauge? Minnesota's last solid big man was KG, and there's no telling when they'll see another. They gotta lock Love up regardless! -
Will McLobster make its way to more McDonald's?
crabbylion replied to htown11's topic in Off-Topic Discussion Forum
...and what's wrong with goat? -
MVP candidate? Good point. If Dwight Howard can be in MVP talks, then L.A. should be too. Take him away, and not even a Brandon Roy at 85% health could carry this team. L.A. really stepped up in the past six weeks.
