Kobe is 30, could play at a very elite level until his mid 30s easily. Pau is 28, in his prime and could play at a all star level until about 32, considering hes a 7 footer logging heavy minutes. Bynum is 21, hasnt even had a full season yet, shown he can be scary good when healthy, not even close to his prime. Still have Farmar and Brown who are young, but more then capable of filling in for Fisher when hes gone. Artest is only 29. Odom is 29. I think theres at least 5 more years of championship contention, barring injuries.

Spurs Blazers Nuggets Lakers are not good because Artest will refuse to adjust to the triangle offense and chuck shots and do whatever he wants on the Lakers.

I might be gettin him in a trade for fantasy but what the heck is wrong with him. Hes been terrible this year. Will he turn it around?

Will Artest guard the other teams best player? Will Kobe still be a roamer? Against the Celtics I could see us putting Artest on Pierce to stop him, and Kobe on Allen to stop him. Im not sure what Kobe is going to do on defense but im sure we will use Artest to shut down dominant perimeter players. Kobe used to guard them at certain parts of the game but now he doesnt have to at all to save his energy for offense.

If you think hes going to jack up shots despite what the coach tells him then thats fine. You cant argue that Artest will be a shut down defender and he will take a load of pressure off Kobe to guard the other teams best player, now we have 2 shut down defenders.

If Artest would have gone to any other team like Boston or Cleveland it would have been a great pickup and would make any team better. Instead he goes to the Lakers, playing for a coach he admires, a teammate he admires, and alongside a childhood friend, but hes still going to cause trouble. And hes still not going to listen to anyone and going to jack up shots regardless of what we tell him to do.

You guys overpaid for Ariza. Unless hes getting wide open shots and dunks hes worthless. Hel get a couple steals but hel also give up a lot of points of the guy he is defending as well. Yeah hes young and could get better but there is no reason to suggest he can be a slasher/scorer he cant create his own shot and career high is like 8 ppg.

We dont need anyone to have a breakout season, cause we have Artest now. There is enough proven veterans that can get the job done. The only thing that will help us is Bynum staying healthy and playing at 100 %.

Lol Artest wont even be shooting 16 times in the playoffs. He knows his role, hes not going to force shots. In Houston he had to force shots sometimes. You keep thinking that Artest is going to come in here and destroy the team, ruin chemistry, take bad shots, and disrupt everything. Thats not going to happen, him and Kobe get along just fine, in fact Artest ADMIRES Kobe. Artest and Odom are friends since childhood, and Artest admires Phil as well. Ron said he already spoke to Phil before agreeing to a contract, without a doubt he understands his role. Artest its not close. Ariza was just good cause teams would leave him wide open to focus on Kobe/Odom/Gasol. Artest can create his own shot and make any shot, not to mention how he will be open a lot more and will be able to score a lot easier. And defensively Ariza is nowhere near as good. He could get steals and read passing lanes well, but Artest does that just as well as Trevor considering that Artest averaged about 2 steals per game as well. You put Ariza on a scorer like Pierce, Melo, and he will get lit up. Artest can shut down any perimeter player in the league. On both sides of the ball Artest is better. Kobe is not the only perimeter player that can create his own shot and post up, Artest will make Kobe's job a lot easier now.
